Types of collectable pins
Cloisonné - Cloisonné or hard enamel is embossed on a copper sheet. The enamel powder is
heated at a range of 800 – 900 degrees. After cooling, the surface of the pin is given a smooth
polish before the pin is plated.
Soft enamel - The top of the pin is shielded with a protective coating of epoxy so that the
piece looks smooth.
Photo-etched - The design on the surface of the pin is etched chemically on the base metal.
It is followed by a filling with colour manually and baked. Finally, a thin coating of epoxy is
applied to the surface after being polished.
Photo Dome - The design is printed on paper or vinyl before being applied to a metallic pin
base. To protect the pin from wear or damage, the vinyl is veneered with epoxy.
Screen printed - Screen printing involves the process of applying color to the base of the
metal with an additional coating of epoxy to protect it from damage.
