Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America
On behalf of the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America, I want to extend a personal invitation to
attend one of our great camps. We promise to provide you a great outdoor experience whether you're going on a
day trip, weekend outing, or staying for a week. At our camps you will make new friends, learn new skills, and
experience activities that will be fun, providing a lifetime of memories.
Ten Mile River Scout Camps
Located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, Ten Mile River encompasses nearly 14,000 acres of woods and
streams. Boarding the Delaware River, TMR can offer you many unique features for both weekend and week
long camping experiences. Here, a unit or family could go hiking, canoeing or rafting down the Delaware River,
fishing, skiing or just sit back and taking in the fall colors. All this and much more only 2 hours northwest of
New York City.
TMR offers four different camps offering weeklong summer camp experiences. Each with their own unique
facilities and program. The camps are Aquehonga, Keowa, Kunatah and Kernochan.
Camp Aquehonga | Camp Keowa | Camp Kunatah | Specialty Camp Programs | Directions to TMR
Camp Aquehonga
Aquehonga will continue to provide for seven weeks of Boy Scout camping featuring Heater Stack and Patrol
Cooking. There will be some minor improvements to program areas and existing sites, as well as the
development of several new sites. The COPE Course continues to be one of the feature program areas at
Aquehonga, offering experiences in both a lower and upper course.
Camp Keowa
Keowa will introduce to troops this year, open block program periods. This will better allow experienced troops
to control their own program time while at the same time providing for more flexibility for first time campers to
experience nature, sports, aquatics and handicraft areas. Leaders will see program areas open for younger Scouts
while the older boys are working on merit badges.
Camp Kunatah
1
Camp Kunatah continues to be one of the only Scout camps in the nation providing for kosher meals. During the
first three weeks of camp, ALL meals served at Kunatah will be Kosher. During the last three weeks of the
season, non-Kosher meals will be served. This year, Kunatah's program of emphasis will be on providing for six
weeks of quality troop camping and high adventure type programs. However, Cub Scout Packs and Webelos
Dens requiring kosher food will be welcome to attend Camp Kunatah during the first three weeks of camp only.
Kunatah remains as our base camp for such activities and programs as Mountain Biking, Rappelling and Rock
Climbing at Indian Cliffs.

Camp Tuckahoe
Camp Tuckahoe is located near Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and has served as the council's summer camp home
since 1948. With 1,300 acres of lush wooded hills, Tuckahoe is a Scout camp rich in the purest traditions of
Scout camping while offering campers of all ages outstanding challenges and adventures. Tuckahoe is also
available for year-round tent camping, along with a limited number of cabins.
Join the Camp Tuckahoe Staff
At the heart of every Scout summer camp is an outstanding camp staff and Camp Tuckahoe is no exception. For
a truly mountaintop Scouting experience, older Scouts and adult Scouters are needed to serve as members of the
Tuckahoe summer camp staff and experience the satisfaction and opportunities found in bringing the Scouting
experience to life for more than a thousand Scout campers who will past through Tuckahoe's gateway this
summer. A camp staff application is available to be downloaded and then printed by interested applicants.
Project COPE
COPE is an acronym for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience. It comprises a series of
outdoor challenges, beginning with basic group initiative games, and progressing to more
complicated low-course and high-course activities. Some of these events involve a group effort,
while others test individual skills and agility. Participants climb, swing, balance, jump, rappel
and think through solutions to a variety of challenges.
The course provides an opportunity for each participant to achieve success as an individual and
as a member of a group. The objectives of Project COPE. include building confidence,
developing leadership skills, and attaining a sense of common cooperation among group
members. The course is designed to build more self-confidence in a shorter length of time than anything most
people have experienced.
Cub Scout Camping Programs
If you're a Cub Scout or Webelos Scout, you don't have to wait until you join a Boy Scout troop before you can
enjoy the fun, excitement and adventure of a BSA camping experience. Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts can
participate in day camp and resident camp programs.
The resident camps are held at Camp Tuckahoe and day camps are at five different locations throughout the
council. For a fun, action-packed program, attend one or more of these sure-to-please programs.
York-Adams Area Council is also pleased to present other outstanding Cub Scout outdoor programs, such as
Tiger Cub Day each spring, and the nationally-recognized Halloween Days each fall.
Wizard Ranch

County and is available for year-round short-term camping.

Camp Bucoco
There's always something going on at Camp Bucoco. No matter what your interest is, Bucoco has an
activity that is just right for your troop, pack, or crew. Camp Bucoco is open year round. Although it
is well known as one the finest council camps in the area, Bucoco is much more than just a nice place
to spend a week in mid-summer.
Activities such as Boy Scout resident camp, Cub Scout resident camp, camporee weekends, OA
weekends and service days, and winter camping are just some of the reasons why Bucoco is the
center of outdoor activity for the Moraine Trails Council.
Camp Bucoco serves as a vehicle in an ideal, natural setting for programs which help build the
character of the council's youth while seeing that they have a lot of fun and opportunities for personal
growth in the process.
Camp Agawam
Camp Agawam is home of the council's Cub Scout camping program. The camp also serves as the
primary training facility for the variety of training courses offered by the council to Scout leaders,
parents, and Scouts.
In the winter and spring, Camp Agawam makes a great place for a weekend outing. There are
several buildings at the camp that are available for rental, as well plenty of room for tent camping.
The camp's natural beauty makes it an ideal location for about any activity.

Weather & Climate
The Cape's weather changes significantly with the seasons. Spring can often be cool and damp with
temperatures ranging in the mid-40s. Summer usually provides warm days, ranging between 70 and 80 degrees,
and cool nights. Winter on Cape Cod is milder than inland, but dampness and wind chill can make winter days
bitter cold. Temperatures range between 30 and 40 degrees in mid-winter, but intervals of below zero as well as
milder temperatures can also occur. It is important to dress properly for the weather, regardless of the season. In
the warmer months, visitors need to take precautions to avoid overexposure to sun, wind and biting insects. It is
advisable to wear a hat as needed, as well as long sleeve and long pants when conditions warrant. In winter, it is
important to dress in layers and keep one's head covered, to avoid exposure, and potentially, hypothermia.

Accessible facilities and services are located throughout the park. The Salt Pond Visitor Center is accessible to
people using wheelchairs. The Province Lands Visitor Center is accessible via a moderately steep ramp way. A
