An Exciting Announcement: Introducing the H.E.R.O. Program
After much planning, Responder
Rescue is proud to announce a new
program which we will be launching
in the next few months. The new
program, Helping Emergency Responders Overcome, or H.E.R.O.,
will be an extension of Responder
Rescue’s current mission, vision,
and goals. The new program will
help Responder Rescue’s beneficiaries overcome the challenges of
injuries and illnesses through the
use of peer support, mentoring,
and through additional resources
needed in overcoming their injury
or illness. As Responder Rescue
and members of the new H.E.R.O.
program continue to plan and implement the new program, we are
continually seeking resources and
recommendations of companies,
businesses, and individuals that are
willing to provide assistance with

Bachelor Auction. The

housing modifications, “injuryfriendly” restaurants and stores,
temporary housing agencies, legal
referrals, accounting/tax advice,
medical referrals including physical
therapies, psychological assistance,
specifically PTSD therapy, wheelchair and other assistive equipment
recommendations, disability application assistance, transportation
services, and pet sitting services. If
you or anyone you know has a recommendation for any of these services, please contact us at 314-6270700 or email Katie at
KatieResponderRescue@gmail.com
to let us know. The more resources
we can collect, the more enhanced
our new program can become. Ideally, this program will assign a mentor that has undergone a similar
injury or illness to a recently injured
or ill first responder to allow for
someone who has “been in their
shoes” to assist with the major
life change that has occurred.
Once the H.E.R.O. program is
officially launched, there will be
monthly gatherings for H.E.R.O.
members and their families to
come together to socialize with
one another and lean on each
other for support. As we move
forward with our new program,
we hope to rely heavily on grant
funding; a process which we have
already started. Please look for
more information in the next few
months as we roll out our new
program. Thank you all for your
continued support. Please contact us if you know of any resources or assistance that might
be beneficial to the program.

Golf Tournament Benefitting the Children of
Gina Stallis Whitrock and Responder Rescue
In 2009, Gina Whitrock Stallis was tragically taken from her family in a home invasion. Due to the
heroism of an off-duty police officer, and Gina's cousin, a former firefighter, the lives of others in the
home, including Gina's grandmother, mother, two sons, and her aunt were saved. Because of their
injuries, neither the police officer or the firefighter will ever return to active duty. Gina touched so
many lives and her family and friends now return her kindness by hosting this golf tournament and
splitting the proceeds between her two sons, Ben and Sam, and Responder Rescue.
Please join us on Saturday, July 28th 2012 at Stonewolf Golf Club for a Golf Tournament in her honor. Registration begins at 12pm
with lunch provided, and a 1pm shotgun start. The tournament is an 18 hole, 4 person "scramble." It is $125 per person or $500
per team. Tournament includes: skins game, closest to the pin, 50/50 raffles, and a silent auction. All golfers receive: lunch, golf,
dinner, drinks on the course, and attendance prizes. Visit www.responderrescue.org to register.

Helping police officers, firefighters,
and EMS workers who are sick or
injured.
Visit our website:
www.responderrescue.org
Each day, thousands of police officers, firefighters, and EMS workers strive to keep each
and every one of us safe. While we often see
these men and women as daily heroes, they
still face injury, illness and traumatic events;
on and off duty. Unfortunately, there is only
so much their insurance companies and the
departments they work for can do to help.
Responder Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization,
was established in 2009 by a St. Louis area fire
captain who saw this unmet need. As a result,
Responder Rescue’s mission is to provide
emotional, tangible, or monetary assistance
to any area first responders who have been
injured, become ill or suffered a traumatic
situation, after all other resources have been
exhausted.
