We would like to extend a special thank you to Lance Crowl for taking time from his busy schedule and offering to be our choral director. From the Board……. Mark your calendars and save the date for our Annual Dinner and Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 12th. Dinner will be served at 6 PM with the business meeting to follow immediately. Tickets are available for $5 each. The dinner is being catered and will include Kunzler baked ham, baked potato with butter & sour cream, green beans, tossed salad with croutons & dressing and dessert. If you are new to the senior center, this dinner and meeting is our mandatory annual meeting where we conduct the business of the senior center, review the happenings of the past year, and vote on the board members. This is your opportunity to meet the board members that you may not see on a regular basis during the center’s normal operating hours. We are also scheduled to have a representative of the York County Agency on Aging update us on the changes within the agency. Please see Trena or Tracy to purchase your ticket for this annual event. It is also possible to attend the meeting without having the dinner. If you would like to ONLY attend the meeting, please let Trena or Tracy know so that seating will be available for you after 6:30 PM. NAME YOUR GAME…… DROP ONE - May 4 JEOPARDY - May 11 PIG RACING - May 7 NYHINHD - May 18 May 28 - Dollar Ante Hey You, special volunteers, for all that you do for us…….Thank You - Thank You - Thank You!!!!!! Sharon Flickinger - Lester and Candi Ramer These center members, family members, and community friends, in one way or another, help us at the center to maintain a place that is clean, fun and beneficial to the senior members of our community. We appreciate any and all volunteers, so, on behalf of the staff, thank you all so much for all that you do. These volunteers help us by cleaning in the center, helping in the kitchen, delivering meals on wheels, preparing tax returns, directing our chorus, Bible study, and fitness classes, preparing breakfasts, helping at fundraisers and various other jobs. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, but we appreciate each and every one of you all every day of the year. The book club will meet on Thursday, May 21 at 12:30 to discuss “Haven” by Kay Hooper. The club rated “Dirty Blonde” by Lisa Scottoline 4 stars. The winner of the volunteer drawing in March was George Holtzinger. He won a $10.00 gift card to Rutters. Covered Dish Guidelines 1. Please bring all foods, prepared, ready to eat. We will keep foods warmed, or cooled, but we will not be responsible for cooking the items. 2. If you are unable to cook or purchase a contribution, please see a staff member for pre-approved alternate choices. 3. Please bring your covered dish item in a container, clearly marked with your name on it (lids and bases). 4. Please refrain from bringing serving utensils. We have sufficient amounts of utensils to supply you, and there will be no chance of misplacing your personal items. 5. The kitchen staff and volunteers will not be responsible for washing your personal containers, so please take your dish home and wash it. 6. Members that are physically disabled, or need assistance, will be offered first chance at being served. Following these individuals, tables will be excused by staff. If there is a valid need for any member to be served early, please discuss this with the director, beforehand. This is unfair to other members that must wait their turn. 7. This is not a carry-out event, so there will not be any take home containers. If a member signed up ahead of time and is unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, please talk to Trena about a take home lunch for that person. Meals are meant to be eaten at the center only. 8. All covered dish events are organized off of a signup sheet that is located in the center with plenty of notice. Please sign up for these events beforehand so that we know how many meals to order.
