Vehicle Disassembly 10mm Soc k et 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (Fig. A1) i. Negative batter y Cabl e Batter y Cover the fender before starting. ii. Prepare a protective sheet, then place protective sheet over the front edge of the center console. Loosen the bracket cover, but do not remove the cover. (Fig. A8) i. Cl ip Remove the two clips securing the bracket cover. ii. Do not scratch the cover. Cl ip iii. Do not bend the cover. R/ B No. 2 Vehicl e Har nessÕ 2P ( Gr ay) Pr otective Cap Locate the 2P connector between R/B No. 2 and the body. ii. Pull the connector toward the battery to remove the cap and make the connection. Connect the Piezo BuzzerÕ s gray 2P connector to the vehicle harnessÕ 2Pgray connector. (Fig. B3) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. Side Cutter s Piezo Buz zer Lar ge Wir e Tie ( x2) Vehicl e Har nessÕ 2P 4. Using a large strip of foam tape, wrap the Piezo Buzzer. (Fig. B3) 5. Secure the Buzzer to the vehicleÕ s harness with two large wire ties. (Fig. B3) i. Secure the Buzzer so its hole is angled down. Piezo Buzzer Õs 2P Fo am Tape ii. Do not secure the piezo buzzer to the hood release cable. Fig. B3 Side Cutter iii. Clip the wire ties. Medium Wir e Tie C. V3 Harness and V3 ECU Installation 1. Locate the vehicle harnessÕwhite 6P connector from the Driver Side cowl area. (Fig. C1) 2. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ6P connector into the vehicle harnessÕ6P connector. (Fig. C1) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. V3 Har ness V3 Har nessÕ 6P Vehicl e Har nessÕ 6P ( White) Fig. C1 3. Secure the V3 harness to the vehicle harness with one medium wire tie. (Fig. C1) Butyl Tape i. Clip the wire tie. 4. Remove the backing sheet from the butyl tape, then apply to the top of the V3 ECU as shown. (Fig. C2) i. V3 ECU Remove only one backing sheet from the butyl tape. ii. Press the butyl tape firmly onto the ECU, making sure they make complete contact. Using 3M Prep Solvent 70, clean the surface of the Driver Side cowl area as shown. (Fig. C4) i. Remove and save the foam block from the driverÕ s side lower cowl hole. V3 Har ness 7. Remove the backing sheet from the butyl tape, then attach the V3 ECU to the shaded area of the Driver Side cowl area as shown. (Fig. C4) i. Press the V3 ECU firmly to the Driver Side cowl area. Butyl Tape Foam Bl ock V3 ECU Fig. C4 8. Using the extra large wire tie, secure the V3 ECU to the Driver Side cowl area as shown. (Fig. C5) i. Reinsert the foam block in the driverÕ s side lower cowl hole. Side Cutter V3 Har ness Medium Wir e Tie V3 ECU ii. Clip the wire tie. 9. Secure the V3 harness to the V3 ECU with one medium wire tie. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ14P connectors between the DriverÕ s Side J/B and vehicle harnessÕ white14P connector. (Fig. C8) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 13. (Fig. D3) i. i. Side Cutter Medium wir e ties ( x2) Verify the connector is plugged in securely. 5. Secure the GBS ECU to the vehicle harness near Driver Side J/B as shown. Locate and disconnect the 8P connector from the ignition switch. (Fig.E1) i. I gnition Switch Do not pull on the wires; pull on the connector. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ8P connectors between the vehicle harnessÕ8P connector and the ignition switch. (Fig. E2) i. Existing Cl ip Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 3. Secure the V3 harness with the existing clip. (Fig. E2) V3 Har nessÕ 8P V3 Har ness Vehicl e Har nessÕ 8P ( White) 4. Using one medium wire tie, secure the V3 harnessÕ8P connectors to the existing wire tie around the ignition switch cylinder. (Fig. E3) i. Route the GRAY Antenna wire up the ignition switch cylinder, then secure it to the cylinder with a large wire tie. (Fig. F1) i. Fig. E3 G RA Y Antenna Wir e I gnition Switch Cyl inder CUT ! Lar ge Wir e Tie Pull the wire tie very tight. ii. Clip the wire tie. 2. Cut off the excess Antenna wire as show. (Fig. F1) i. Do not cut any other wires. Route the V3 harness toward the center console area , then secure it to the vehicle harness with one medium wire tie. (Fig. F2) i. Side Cutter Par king Br ake Lever Clip the wire tie. With the bracket cover loosened, reach behind and remove the middle knockout cover from the bracket cover. (Fig. G1) i. Do not scratch the cover. Status Monitor ii. Do not bent the cover. 2. Install Status monitor to the bracket cover. Br acket Cover Fig. G1 3. Connect the V3 harnessÕclear and blue 2P connectors to the Status MonitorÕ s clear and blue 2P connectors, then wrap them with a large strip of foam tape. (Fig. G2) i. Warning Label Installation 1. Clean the inside surface of the front doorÕ s windows. (Fig. H1) 1 0 mm 2. Place the warning label on the inside surface of the front doorÕ s windows as shown. (Fig. H1) i. War ning Label Use a piece of clear adhesive tape to lift the labels off of their protective backing sheet. ii. Do not touch the adhesive surface of the warning labels. Fig. H1 I. Completing the Installation 10mm Soc k et 45û 1. Complete the reassembly of the vehicle. i. Reconnect any disconnected connectors. Negative Batter y Cabl e ii. Verify the panels fit together properly with no uneven gaps between them. Battery 2. Clean up and remove any trash. 3. Reconnect the vehicleÕ s negative battery cable. (Fig. I1) i. Attach the battery cable at a 45 degree angle as shown. ii. Tighten the nut with 3 ft¥lbs of torque. iii. Be careful to not touch the positive battery terminal. 4. Place the remote controls, ownerÕ s guide and insurance card, left in their protective bags, into the glove box. The tail and marker lights flash once. The Piezo chirps once. The interior lights turn on for three seconds. Both doors lock. The Status MonitorÕ s LED starts flashing. Press and release the remoteÕ s top button again to disarm the system. The tail and marker lights flash twice. The Piezo chirps twice. The interior lights turn on for thirty seconds. Both doors unlock. The Status MonitorÕ s LED stops flashing. Open and close the driverÕ s door. Arm and disarm the system with the remote again, then wait thirty seconds. The tail and marker lights flash once. The Piezo chirps once. The interior lights turn on for three seconds. Both doors lock. The Status MonitorÕ s LED starts flashing. Press and release the remoteÕ s top button again to disarm the system. The tail and marker lights flash twice. The Piezo chirps twice. The interior lights turn on for thirty seconds. Both doors unlock. The Status MonitorÕ s LED stops flashing. Open the driverÕ s door, then press and release the remoteÕ s top button. The Piezo sounds continuously. Close the driverÕ s door. The Piezo stops sounding. Pressand hold the remoteÕ s top button for more than two seconds. The doors lock, then unlock. The Piezo chirps once (when the doors lock), then twice (when the doors unlock.) The horn sounds in a unique pattern. The interior lights flash in the same pattern. The tail and marker lights flash in the same pattern. The Status MonitorÕ s LED flashes in the same pattern. The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing. The Piezo chirps twice. Sit in the driverÕ s seat and make sure both doors are closed. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to ÒONÓ. Both doors lock. Turn the key back to ÒACCÓ. Both doors unlock. Turn the key to ÒONÓ,roll down both windows, turn the key back to ÒLOCKÓ, then remove it and exit the vehicle. Press and release the remoteÕ s top button to arm the system. The tail and marker lights flash once. The Piezo chirps once. The interior lights turn on for three seconds. Both doors lock. The Status MonitorÕ s LED starts flashing. Reach inside, unlock and open driverÕ s door, then sit in the driverÕ s seat. The horn sounds in a unique pattern. The interior lights flash in the same pattern. The tail and marker lights flash in the same pattern. The Status MonitorÕ s LED flashes in the same pattern. (If checking a M/T vehicle, fully depress the clutch pedal for the next step.) Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to ÒSTARTÓ. The engine does not start (no cranking). Turn the key back to ÒACCÓ,then to ÒSTARTÓ again. The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing. The Status MonitorÕ s LED stops flashing. The starter cranks and the engine starts. Turn the key back to ÒLOCKÓ,remove it, exit the vehicle, then check the front pas− senger door without performing the starter cut check. Same as before. Press and release the remoteÕ s top button to arm the system. The tail and marker lights flash once. The Piezo chirps once. The interior lights turn on for three seconds. Both doors lock. The Status MonitorÕ s LED starts flashing. Pull the plunger on the striker tool 1/3 to 1/2 way out, then release it to strike the center of the driverÕ s door window. The alarm should no t betriggered. Pull the plunger all the way out to tap the center of the driverÕ s door window again. The horn starts sounding. The tail and marker lights starts flashing. Note: If you do not disarm the system with the remote control, the horn will sound and the lights will flash for 20 seconds. It is not necessar y to checkthe alarm duration. Disarm the system with the remote. Rev.: C: 10/02/00 The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing. The Status MonitorÕ s LED stops flashing. Do not scratch the cove 6. Loosen the vehicleÕ s wire harness if so equipped. (Fig. A5) i. Unfasten the clips securing the harness. 7. Remove the middle heater duct. (Fig. A6) i. Remove the screw securing the heater ductÕ s bracket to the vehicle. 8. Prepare a protective sheet, then place protective sheet over the front edge of the center console. Loosen the bracket cover, but do not remove the cover. (Fig. A8) i. Remove the two clips securing the bracket cover. ii. Do not scratch the cover. iii. Do not bend the cover. B. Piezo Buzzer Installation 1. Remove and save the three bolts securing R/B No. 2 to the body in the engine room. (Fig B1) 2. Locate the vehicle harnessÕgray 2P connector, then remove and discard the black cap. (Fig. B2) ii. Pull the connector toward the battery to remove the cap and make the connection. 3. Connect the Piezo BuzzerÕ s gray 2P connector to the vehicle harnessÕ 2P gray conne ctor. (Fig. B3) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 4. Using a large strip of foam tape, wrap the Piezo Buzzer. (Fig. B3) 5. Secure the Buzzer to the vehicleÕ s harness with two large wire ties. (Fig. B3) i. Secure the Buzzer so its hole is angled down. ii. Do not secure the piezo buzzer to the hood release cable. iii. Clip the wire ties. V3 Harness and V3 ECU Installation 2. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ 6P conne ctor into the vehicle harnessÕ 6P connec tor. (Fig. C1) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 3. Secure the V3 harness to the vehicle harness with one medium wire tie. (Fig. C1) i. Clip the wire tie. 4. Remove the backing sheet from the butyl tape, then apply to the top of the V3 ECU as shown. (Fig. C2) i. Remove only one backing sheet from the butyl tape. ii. Press the butyl tape firmly onto the ECU, making sure they make complete contact. 5. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ tw o 10P connectors and 4P connector to the V3 ECU as shown. (Fig. C3) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 6. Using 3M Prep Solvent 70, clean the surface of the Driver Side cowl area as shown. (Fig. C4) i. Remove and save the foam block from the driverÕ s side lower cowl hole. 7. Remove the backing sheet from the butyl tape, then attach the V3 ECU to the shaded area of the Driver Side cowl area as shown. (Fig. C4) i. Press the V3 ECU firmly to the Driver Side cowl area. Secure the V3 harness to the V3 ECU with one medium wire tie. (Fig. C5) i. Clip the wire tie. 11. Remove the white 14P connector from the Driver Side J/B. (Fig. C7) i. Do not pull on the wires; pull on the connector. 12. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ14P connectors between the DriverÕ s Side J/B and vehicle harnessÕ wh ite 14P connector. (Fig. C8) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 13. Secure the V3 harness to the Driver Side J/B with one large wire tie as shown. (Fig. C8) i. Clip the wire tie. 15. Secure the V3 harness to the vehicleÕ s harness with one medium wire ties. (Fig. C10) i. Clip the wire tie. GBS ECU Installation and Connection 1. Attach the small foam tape to the edge of the GBS ECU. (Fig. D1) 2. Turn the adjustment screw on the GBS ECU to the "5" position. (Fig. D2) i. Adjust as necessary during the functional verifications. 3. Insert two medium wire ties through the slits in the back of the GBS ECU. (Fig. D2) 4. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ clea r 6P connector into the GBS ECU. (Fig. D3) i. Verify the connector is plugged in securely. 5. Secure the GBS ECU to the vehicle harness near Driver Side J/B as shown. (Fig. D3) i. E. Clip the wire ties. V3 Harness Installation(Continued) 1. Locate and disconnect the 8P connector from the ignition switch. (Fig.E1) i. Do not pull on the wires; pull on the connector. 2. Plug in the V3 harnessÕ 8P conne ctors between the vehicle harnessÕ 8Pconnector and the ignition switch. (Fig. E2) i. Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 3. Secure the V3 harness with the existing clip. Using one medium wire tie, secure the V3 harnessÕ 8P conne ctors to the existing wire tie around the ignition switch cylinder. (Fig. E3) i. F. Clip the medium wire tie. Antenna Wire Installation 1. Route the GRAY Antenna wire up the ignition switch cylinder, then secure it to the cylinder with a large wire tie. (Fig. F1) i. Pull the wire tie very tight. ii. Clip the wire tie. 2. Cut off the excess Antenna wire as show. (Fig. F1) i. Do not cut any other wires 3. Route the V3 harness toward the center console area , then secure it to the vehicle harness with one medium wire tie. (Fig. F2) i. Clip the wire tie. G. Status Monitor Installation and Connection 1. With the bracket cover loosened, reach behind and remove the middle knockout cover from the bracket cover. (Fig. G1) i. Do not scratch the cover. ii. Do not bend the cover. 2. Install Status monitor to the bracket cover. 3. Connect the V3 harnessÕ clearand blue 2P connectors to the Status MonitorÕ s clear and blue 2P connectors, then wrap them with a large strip of foam tape. (Fig. G2) i. Verify the connector are plugged in securely. Warning Label Installation 1. Clean the inside surface of the front doorÕ s windows. (Fig. H1) 2. Place the warning label on the inside surface of the front doorÕ s windows as shown. (Fig. H1) I. i. Use a piece of clear adhesive tape to lift the labels off of their protective backing sheet. ii. Do not touch the adhesive surface of the warning labels. Completing the Installation 1. Complete the reassembly of the vehicle. i. Reconnect any disconnected connectors. ii. Verify the panels fit together properly with no uneven gaps between them. 3. Reconnect the vehicleÕ s negative battery cable. (Fig. I1) ii. Be careful to not touch the positive battery terminal. 4.
