The grounds of the historic
Brawley mansion, a centuryold home north of downtown
Mooresville off Broad Street,
will be the site a “Walk Thru
Bethlehem” holiday event
tonight and Saturday from 6-9
p.m. It’s free. It will include an
outdoor marketplace complete with Biblical-era vendors, musicians and Roman
soldiers. The pageant is presented by several churches,
including Broad Street United
Methodist, Faith United
Methodist, Redeemer’s Light
United Methodist, Central
United Methodist, Freedom
Christian Center and Lake
Norman Fellowship.
Holiday concert
The Lake Norman Orchestra will perform its 3rd Annual Holiday Concert at the
Charles Mack Citizen Center
in Mooresville on Saturday,
Dec. 10. There will be performances at 2 and 7 p.m.
This year’s program will feature the Williamson’s Chapel
Choir, along with the LKNO’s
stage band The NormanAirs.
Tickets are $10 in advance
and $12 at the door. Children
under age 10 are free for the 2
p.m. matinee. For tickets or

Santa’s Helpers
… That’s the name of a
Mooresville Recreation Department program for grades
K-6 that will meet for crafts,
movies and popcorn on the

Morganton artist Mark
Poteat is exhibiting his works
at Mitchell Community College through Dec. 20 at the
Louise Gilbert Gallery in the
Guild’s feature artist
UNC-Charlotte art professor Jamie Franki is the
Mooresville Artist Guild’s featured artist during December
and January. Franki is the
designer of the 2006 “Return
to Monticello” nickel featuring a forward looking Thomas
Jefferson, which was chosen
from 147 designs submitted
by artist from throughout the
country. He also designed the
2005 “American Bison” reverse image, which was chosen from 144 designs submitted.

Visitors will step back in time
and experience Christmas
celebrations in the plantation house, kitchen, barn,
slave cabin, and among Civil
War-era soldiers in the
field. There will be a bonfire

School 2006, including 21

The Governor’s School of
North Carolina is the oldest
statewide summer residential
program for academically or

school students in the nation.
