When we ask the question what is the fastest developing branch in the bank industry, the answer
is cashless payment solutions. In addition to payment card with magnetic stripe or the chip, which
is a common occurrence, there are also contactless payment cards and – as a new medium – mobile
phones with contactless payment support (NFC technology). These payment tools emerge at new
and new sites where they successfully replace cash payment. Principal focus of company SONET
is to support deploying electronic payment everywhere it make sense and brings benefits.

We are a Czech company based in Brno having been
on the market since year 1991. We provide banks,
payment service providers and other businesses with
comprehensive services in the area of the payment
technologies.
Our main scope is software development for payment terminals (POS). As a result of constantly
growing needs of our customers we have developed
a universal software platform independent on particular hardware which enables us to react to your
requirements promptly and flexibly.
In addition to common payment applications we

Company’s milestones
Our company was founded in 1991 with the aim to provide highly qualified services in IT area. In 1995 our company
became a member of Tandem Computers Partners’ Alliance, that time a world leader on the transaction market,
which gave us access to the latest technologies, and paved the way to a world of great solutions and brought us
the know-how so much missing in our market.
Thanks to our achievements reached by cooperation with Tandem Computers, which is now a part of HP empire,
we were approached by American payment terminal manufacturer Hypercom in 1999 and became their Master
Distributor in the region. It was only a short step from this to payment terminal software development. Thus
we began to write the longest and the most important chapter in the history of the company.
In 2012 Hypercom corporation was acquired by VeriFone corporation and thus we become its partner as well.
Referring to the market needs we have established cooperation with company Ingenico; and in 2013 with
company Spire Payments. Thanks to our own software architecture for POS terminals we are able to support
these platforms.
Our commitment to growth demonstrates opening a branch in Budapest, Hungary in 2013, where we offer
the same services as in the Czech and Slovak Republics, i.e., in addition to payment terminals we provide service
support, call center service, and comprehensive communication infrastructure.

processes for acquiring, terminal management and Incident Management System. Monitoring system,

Software development
We deliver standard payment and non-payment applications, but also custom applications
made by individual requirements of our customers. It is a very comprehensive and
professionally managed process consisting of many important steps – from the initial analysis
of the customer requirement over to supply of the final product. We pay maximum attention
to every step to develop outstanding and useful product. Thanks to close cooperation with
the customer we can thus find optimal solution according to the specific customer’s needs.
Apart from specific know-how of payment terminal software development, HW platforms
and different authorization centers require also highly qualified and flexible internal organization of SW development teams. We start from our own SW architecture and object programming. Then a choice of appropriate advanced tools for so called release management
and testing along with test scenarios designed for individual types of applications come into
play. These are key factors of the efficiency of the whole development project. This is exactly
what our customers expect – a shortened development cycle and reduced costs of the final
product in comparison with our competitors.
POSMan information system for acquiring is an important part of our service
portfolio. Its functionality significantly exceeds the needs of the common
terminal management (TMS) and Incident Management System.
It is a comprehensive information system that automates all the business

Management information module POSMan Plus provides tools for analyses,
reports and modelling based on the data collected from POSMan system and
hPOS application.
The customer thus collects information on the merchant, card brands, POS
terminal parameters (data from TMS), financial data (turnabouts per individual
card brands), information about all performed service activities, in addition
to all these functionalities, the customer is also able to model the profitability
of the merchant, information on the duration of the transactions or error
occurrence on all POS terminals.
Using POSMan and POSMan Plus reduce internal acquiring costs by 40–50 %.
These systems are absolutely independent on HW platform and allow very
effective management and heterogeneous POS networks administration.
hPOS is set of services integrated in POS terminal application allowing service technicians to send update
information on just performed service operation such as installation or intervention to POSMan (hService). This
application also enables regular data collection on POS terminal behavior and remote setup (hMonitor). Upon
settlement more than 100 pieces of data are transferred to the data warehouse. By interconnection of hPOS data
and POSMan data the customer receives a unique set of data which gives the staff new options how to manage
and optimize the POS and merchants’ networks (please see POSMan Plus section).
hPOS system comprises three main functionalities:
1)hServis
– sends data on service events in the terminal to
POSMan application (update/closing service protocol,
setup check)
2)hMonitor
– collects data on terminal behavior and its setting
(global statistics on POS network monitoring, individual POS status monitoring, non-standard behavior
detection, monitoring error conditions, error prevention, transaction statistics)
3)
Remote management
– ensures remote management of POS terminals
according to various scenarios and requirements
(application download, setup initialization)

SERVICE TECHNICIANS’
NETWORK
High level of provided services is
a top priority for us. For this reason
we have a strategic network of service technicians with a long-term
experience with servicing all types
of POS terminals in our portfolio.
Their qualification is regularly
extended by trainings reflecting
our customer’s requirements, new
technologies and card brands,
internal processes adjustments,
and also new HW technologies.
In addition to regular service
operations and HW repairs we
also provide training on operating
the POS terminal for the customer’s
staff. An important role in service
technicians’ network management
is played by our information system
POSMan which provides a perfect
overview of both open and closed
service operations.
CALL CENTER
Our service facilities are supported
by the call center whose staff record
all calls in POSMan system and solve
the issues by the nature of the problem. According to our long-term
statistics we can boast with 60 %
success rate in resolving defects
directly over the phone without
the necessity of a intervention by
a field technician. In opposite case
a field technician is assigned for
clearance of the issue. POSMan
system monitors all operations up
to closing the service request.
STOCK MANAGEMENT
AND LOGISTICS
Logistics plays an important part
in our service delivery. The core
is our central warehouse extended
by the certified Security Room (for
key loading procedure pursuant
to VISA association requirements).
The terminals are distributed from
the central warehouse to regional
service
centers
throughout
the territory. The whole process is
performed overnight. For transportations of payment terminals
and other accessories we use
eco-friendly freight forwarding
company DPD. Stock supplies and
all the transfers are registered by
the unit serial numbers in POSMan
system – in every minute you know
where your device is located.
