Making Your Way Around Toronto
Avoid driving whenever
possible.
The festival brings about traffic restrictions
that can cause delays. Festival venues
are located near one another, so driving
between them is not necessary. If you do
plan on driving, try to park in a festivaldesignated lot, as parking can be difficult
to find during the festival.
There are some great alternatives to
driving, including:
Taking a Taxi
Taxis are a convenient way to get around
the city and fares are reasonable.
Depending on traffic, expect a fare of $27+
to get across town.
Take the TTC
(Toronto Transit Commission)
Buses, trains and streetcars
An adult fare on the TTC is only $3.00 (one
way). Be sure to obtain a transfer (if you
plan on changing your route) after paying
your fare. If you intend on attending
several events, buy a day pass for only
$11.00 and enjoy unlimited travel for an
entire day.
For information on accessibility for
persons with disabilities, visit the
Accessibility Directorate of Ontario.

ABOUT
THE CAMPs
The D’Regulars Arts and
Cultural Club
The D’Regulars began their carnival
career as a “Sweeper” band – a
t-shirt band that ended the parade.
After viewing the other Mas bands,
spectators would circle back to
complete their parade experience with
D’Regulars. Under Michael Williams’
leadership, the band proved to be
extremely popular and was celebrated
for its unique steel drum sound. After
27 years of supporting other Mas band
groups, D’Regulars decided to branch
out on their own. In 2010, they were
officially competing as a fully costumed
Mas Band.
Tribal Knights
Dexter Seusahai, although from Trinidad
and Tobago, which is known as one
of the Mas capitals of the world, did
not discover his passion and talent for
designing and building Mas costumes
until 1996, when he assisted the
legendary Louis Saldenah. TRIBAL
KNIGHTS was founded on Seusahai’s
ability to translate ideas and images into
majestic works of art, using the finest
materials, sound structural design, and
an incomparable attention to detail.
Mas K
Louis Saldenah migrated to Canada
from Trinidad & Tobago in 1970.
Following in his father’s (one of Trinidad
& Tobago’s most renowned Carnival
bandleaders) footsteps, Louis produced
his first Mas band ‘Shangri-la’ in 1977,
which went on to win the coveted
Band Of The Year Honours. Louis’
artistic vision and creativity has created
excitement, inspiration and joy in tens
of thousands of Canadians, foreign
spectators, and masqueraders alike.
Carnival Revolution
Carnival Revolution was created by Osei
& Joan Brand to represent the voice of
the younger generation and show their
parents what they learned from growing
up in Toronto and playing Mas. Carnival
Revolution is dedicated to encouraging
and developing creative talent amongst
at-risk youth.
Toronto Revellers
The Toronto Revellers Cultural Association
is a non-profit organization that aims to
contribute to the multicultural landscape
T Oro n to carn ival gu ide 2015
of Canada by promoting, celebrating
and exploring the rich, diverse culture
and traditions of the Caribbean. Toronto
Revellers was founded by bandleader
Jamaal Magloire in 2006, and is made
up of 2000 masqueraders, volunteers,
and designers.
Carnival Nationz Inc.
Carnival Nationz is a nine-year-old
organization that produced its first band
of 600 masqueraders entitled “Dis is
Paradise” in 2005. They made history
by being the only band ever to receive
the most coveted festival award, “Band
of the Year” in their inaugural year. CNz
is comprised of bandleaders, Marcus
Eustace, world-renowned designer, and
Bryce Aguiton (aka “Island Boyz”), who
promoted events in Toronto.
Connections
The Mas band CONNECTIONS was
inherited from a former bandleader.
In pursuit of a new identity for the
band, the old name was dropped and
the band presently campaigns as an
Ontario Non-Profit Corporation known as
“CONNECTIONS MASTUMES BAND.”
The name MASTUMES was derived from
a combination of the words MASquerade
and cosTUMES.
Fantazia International
Will Morton always had a passion for
designing and creating art. He started
his journey by volunteering his time
at the Louis Saldenah Mas K Club
before bringing out his first section in
1987. With all his years of experience
working with the best designers and
Mas builders, Will decided to forge
ahead and branch off on his own with
wife Annalisa by his side. Will became a
bandleader in 2009, and looks forward
to nothing but success in the future.
Durham Mas &
Recreational Club
Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival
welcomes Durham Mas (under the
leadership of Jerrol Augustine) to be a
part of the grand parade. The band is
passionate about Mas and is confident
that they will give their masqueraders a
fabulous new experience that they will
never forget.

BIOGRAPHY
Tiffany Phillips
I am of Jamaican and Scottish descent. I have lived in
Toronto for the past 7 years, but am originally from the
small town of Petrolia, which is not too far from Sarnia,
Ontario. When I was younger, my mother would take
my brother and I to Caribana every single year. We
would drive 3 hours to watch the magnificent parade
and revel in all the excitement it brought; this marked
the beginning of my carnival love affair.
After graduating with a degree in biology, a subject
I have always been passionate about, I moved to
Toronto in hopes of finding a career. I dabbled in
modeling for a while, but ended up taking a job as
an Operating Room Technician in a prominent laser
vision correction company and discovered within
myself a passion for nursing. This newfound passion
led me back to school to acquire another degree,
this time in nursing. Now, I work as an RN and
absolutely love my job.
Ever since I can remember, I have been dancing.
I began my training in tap dancing as a child, and
shifted to hip-hop when I got older. Currently, I am a
member of ‘Nexx Level,’ a dance & theatre company
in Toronto, and I have been performing with them for
4 years.
I knew I was hooked on Caribana the very first time
I played mas. From the adrenaline, excitement, energy,
food, vibrant colours and music to the great joy the
festival brings - I love it all! For me, it brings back fond
memories of my childhood and the joyous celebrations
I shared with my family. I have played mas for the
past 4 years and each time I do, I cannot help but be
excited about the following year’s celebrations. Being
able to represent my culture freely in the streets of
Toronto fills me with a great sense of pride. I cannot
wait for Carnival in Trinidad next year!
Here’s a random fact about me: I have an exotic pet
named Zoe; she is my beloved Pygmy hedgehog. If
you’re wondering why I decided to become the owner
of a hedgehog, your guess is as good as mine. What I
do know for certain is that Zoe and I are similar in many
ways - we are both low maintenance, easy to get along
with, and have hair with dark roots and blonde tips!
