DON’T MISS OUR FEATURED GUEST SPEAKER
Satiric Comedian, & Political Commentator-EVAN SAYET
Topic: HOW LIBERALS THINK!!!
Our featured speaker will powerfully articulate the mindset of the modern liberal-his
message must be heard! Starting out as a standup comedian, Evan Sayet was spotted by
David Letterman and offered a spot on a special episode featuring young talent.
Segueing into writing, he was an integral part of “The Arsenio Hall Show,” and then the
very first Creative Consultant on the highly respected “Politically Incorrect with Bill
Maher” (back when Maher was funny). After that Evan wrote and produced the highlyrated special for Discovery’s The Learning Channel called “The 70’s: From Bellbottoms
to Boogie Shoes,” which he perfected into a book for a musical comedy. Evan has even
tried his hand at game shows – as the original writer of the cult classic “Win Ben Stein’s
Money.”
The latest twist in Evan’s career came during the recent Presidential elections when Evan was made
Communications Director in Los Angeles for President Bush. He wrote a number of articles for major
conservative outlets, was asked to offer weekly commentary on KMJ radio and began to deliver his lecture
“Regurgitating the Apple: How Modern Liberals ‘Think’” to an ever-growing audience.
Evan is now one of the Los Angeles area’s most in-demand speakers -- a political pundit recognized as
“brilliant” by Dennis Prager for his take on the unique power of the Judeo-Christian culture, and singled out by
Rush Limbaugh for his explanation of why Liberals lie.
“Evan Sayet is simply the best political comedian working in America today"
-- David Horowitz
“At last I can delight in a show that is genuinely funny." – Larry Elder
Please Come and Invite Guests!
We have a great jewelry vendor, Ronelle Jewelry, who will be attending. Ronelle designs her own

MESSAGE
from the
PRESIDENT
Dear MRWF Members,
Happy New Year! I am humbled and honored to
serve as your newly elected president of MRWF.
2008 is a critical year for our club to accomplish
three pivotal goals: increase membership, register
new voters and get out the vote. I am counting on all
of you to rally and give of your time, donations and
vital assistance.
Please join me in expressing heartfelt gratitude to
Sandra McFadden for her two years of exemplary
service as president of MRWF. Her enthusiasm,
dedication and commitment to strengthening our club
are greatly appreciated. I am thankful that Sandra is
remaining on the board as are many other key board
members. Several new executive board members
will be serving in important roles, including
Stephanie Buckley as treasurer, Noel Paasch as cochair of membership, Carol Wallace as co-chair for
programs and Julea Douglass as parliamentarian.
What a team!
I would like to invite all members and guests to
attend our first meeting of the year on Thursday,
January 24. This will be the kick-off of the exciting
campaign season. To get us in the spirit, renowned
satirist and comedian Evan Sayet will talk about
"How Liberals Think." We will also discuss
MRWF's participation in the political process this
election year. Please do not miss this important
meeting at Gladstone's Malibu.
Enclosed is a form to renew your membership. We
also invite you to participate as a sponsor to help
fund a Republican Headquarters in Malibu and pay
for mailings to get out the vote. For those renewing
by January 24, you will be eligible to win a drawing
for a special prize. I encourage you to renew today
and bring a guest to the meeting. All new members
will also be eligible to win a fabulous prize.
Please make one of your New Year’s resolutions to
get more involved in the Malibu Republican Women
Federated. We need you more than ever. Feel free to
call or email me directly with any suggestions for
speakers or programs that you might have. I very
much look forward to working with you.
Warm regards,
Alice

A Retrospective by Lorraine Stalberg
Christmas 2007
Our 2007 Christmas party was a wonderful
afternoon of Pearl Harbor remembrance, veteran-honoring,
and eulogizing Sgt. Bobby Ayres. There was also a feast to
remember, cooked with love by our wonderful members.
There was not a dry eye or an empty stomach in Alice
Scholefield’s beautiful home!
Judge Bruce Einhorn swore in the 2008 Board, and
was then rewarded with a surprise birthday cake for his
December 7th birthday.
Brig. Gen. Michael Teilmann, of military bearing
and orator’s voice, told us about the USO, which he runs at
LAX, right under the “Theme Restaurant” landmark. This
provides a warm, restful shelter, food and goodies for
soldiers between flights. We presented him with a check for
$100 toward his cause. Just back from Guantanamo, he told
Continued from previous column………….
The Army Jr. ROTC from Verdugo Hills HS, under the
direction of Sgt. Rodney Scott, did a beautiful job with the flag
ceremonies. It was touching to see them, on the edge of the Pacific,
looking out toward Pearl Harbor across the water. It made us all
proud to see these stalwart young men do the honors so beautifully.
Harpist Melani Mitton played beautifully, the National
Anthem, then Christmas music; she also sang and played “Memorial,”
which she wrote especially in honor of Sgt. Bobby Ayres. His
“second mother,” Nancy Schellkopf, and his lovely fiancée spoke
about Sgt. Ayres, a Malibu H.S. graduate who was killed by a sniper
in Iraq in September. Then Taps was played by Melani and trumpeter
Ryan Swenson.
Thank you to all the lovely cooks and hard workers who
made this all happen. And a special thank you to those who brought
stuffed animals for the My Stuff Bag Foundation.
us about the soldiers he met who were stationed there.
Chief John McCallum, of the Navy Seabees at Port
Hueneme, told us about the good works he’s coordinating
up there, helping service families who can’t afford
Christmas. We donated $100 to him for that good cause.
We also had Frank LaRosa, president of local Ch. 355
(“The Lost Patrol”), Vietnam Vets of America, who
brought along another Vietnam Vet, Sgt. Hogan, with his
beautiful seeing-eye dog.
