An Angel for
Denise

This summer I received a
phone call from Denise
Boarts, my retired secretary
and friend. Denise said that
her dog, Bergey, died. He
was an Australian shepherd
mix. In honor of the Bergie,
Denise and her husband
Dave wanted to adopt a
shelter dog.

Denise was my secretary for
many years and she jokingly
called me her guardian
Angel. Denise has had a
rough road for the past 15 years
fighting Crohn’s disease and recently cancer. She is a survivor and has the most
positive attitude of anyone I have ever met.
At Four Footed Friends
we believe:
Denise called because she wanted to know if Four Footed Friends had a
shepherd mix dog between 40-50 pounds, 1 to 3 years old and house trained. I
told her that was a big order to fill but I would check. I called Mary Ann
Dodson and she said, “You are not going to believe this but we have a very
sweet one year old female Australian Shepherd mix. She is 45 pounds and her
name is Angel”

When she told me this I nearly dropped the phone, I excitedly called Denise and
she said, “How soon can we meet her?” Denise and her husband Dave went to
the shelter that day and it was love at first sight for all of them, a true match
made in heaven! They filled out the paper work and were able to adopt Angel
quickly.
They have had Angel for months now and I continue to get pictures of Angel in
her bed, in the car, with grandma, with her toys. I get lots of pictures! Now
many people would think this was just a coincidence but I happen to believe that
Angel was sent as a guardian angel for Denise.

Goodbye to a Good Friend
Four Footed Friends lost a good friend and
supporter. Longtime member and volunteer,
Merle Rife recently passed away. He was a
board member for several years and past
Board President. Our deepest sympathy to the
Rife family. We will miss him and his care and
love for our rescued animals.
A Memorial to Patty
Our Deepest sympathy to Jim Blizzard
of Greensburg, PA. Jim’s wife, Patty,
passed away this past Christmas and
will be missed by all who knew her.
Both Patty and Jim
have been great supporters of
Four Footed Friends
for "many, many years."
They both cared deeply for
our rescued animals.

Meet Derek…...
Derek is a handsome tan and white short hair
with a full coat and nice markings .
He is about 3 years old.
Derek is friendly and gets along with other
cats. He is neutered and up to date with his
shots. He will make someone a great
companion!
Meet Frankie…..
He is a great looking black and white long
hair. Frankie is very friendly and loves
attention! He is neutered and is up to
date on all his shots. Frankie was born on
5-14-14, so he will be two years old soon.
A forever home would be the best
Birthday present ever for Frankie!
This is Carter
Carter is an adult Redbone Coonhound. He came to
FFF as an owner surrender.
Carter is housebroken and friendly.
He walks well on a leash, likes to chase tennis balls, and he will
even bring them back to you so you can keep playing with him.
Carter seems to be interested in meeting quiet dogs. He seems to
be fearful of exuberant, in-your-face dogs who want to play.
He has not been officially "cat-tested" yet, but he does not react
negatively to the cats when he walks by the cat rooms or sees
them when he is in the yard.
Carter would be a great companion for someone who will take
him on walks and enjoy his company

Above - Cinnamon is an nine-year-old Calico tiger.
She is a calm laid back lady who enjoys watching
visitors watch her. Her little crossed eye make her even
more adorable. She wants a forever home and she is
ready to go live with you!
Below - Chester is a 1 year-old handsome boy with
beautiful swirl markings. He loves to sneak out of the
Harmony room and roam the hallways at our shelter.
He is a "social butterfly"who is very friendly and
follows people around like a dog...he loves dogs
too! He is neutered and waiting for the perfect family.

Four Footed Friends First Luxury Purse and Jewelry Bash
We wish to thank all who attended our Luxury Purse and Jewelry Bash on December 5th at Indiana Elks. We hope
you had a great time and will pass the word to your friends and co-workers that another one is in the works. We are putting our heads together to make the next one even better!
Our guests were treated to delicious, freshly made spiral sandwiches, meatballs and various cheese balls and crackers,
not to mention all of the great Christmas cookies!!! One could enjoy a glass of wine, soda or a cup of coffee while
waiting for the fun to begin. Either a Luxury Purse or a piece of jewelry was given away every 10 minutes for 3 hours.
In addition, those in attendance had the opportunity to buy a separate $1.00 ticket to win either a purse or a piece of
jewelry. Imagine being the winner of a Michael Kors handbag for just $1.00 or a Pandora Bracelet for $1.00! In addition, strip tickets were sold and a 50/50 drawing was held. All proceeds benefited Four Footed Friends. All of the purses
were purchased at Macy’s and came with a gift receipt and the jewelry was purchased locally at Lorelli’s and could be
exchanged if not worn.
Save the date—September 24th for our next purse and jewelry bash and check our Facebook page or web site for the
details. We would not have been able to hold this event without help. We wish like to thank The Young Professionals of
Indiana, the Student Marketing Association of IUP, Phi Beta Lambda , Circle K of IUP and many of our supporters
who baked cookies for the event.
