Cro - Cro FROG’S STICKY TRICK © 8/2000 Judy Woodworth I am a bullfrog, an amphibian; I like the water and I like the land. I’m cold-blooded, my temperature can vary; Hibernating in winter is quite necessary, Which means I become completely still Which helps me stay warm just until Springtime comes and I start to sing, As I call for a mate wanting offspring. In a jelly like substance she lays our egg; And when they hatch they have no legs, Instead they have tails and gills like fish. But soon begins a metamorphosis....... Legs appear and lungs form And soon the tadpoles do transform Into froggies for all their life long. Ribbit, ribbit, we sing our frog song! Our hind legs are large and incredibly strong, Helping us to leap high and jump long. Our toes are webbed and perfectly slim, Giving us the ability to dive and swim. We have bulgy eyes and smooth moist skin, Our big, wide mouths are in a permanent grin. We love to snatch the yummy insects With our very long tongue that ejects, We nab our prey when they least expect, And if they think they can escape for a sec, Well, they’re mistaken because we are tricky, Our tongues are quick, but better yet, THEY’RE STICKY! I’m a L ittle F r o g g y (To the tune of I’m a Little Teapot) I’m a lit t le f r o g g y s w im m in g in t h e p o o l . T h e w a t e r ’s g r e a t , it ’s n ic e a n d c o o l.
