Have you ever wanted to make your own Homecoming Mum? With the help from this manual
you can learn how to make a quick, easy, and medium sized Homecoming Mum. This is for any
high school student who wants to carry on the tradition of making their own Homecoming
Mum each year.

The price for the items you will need can vary depending on what you want to add on
to it.
I will only show you how to create and decorate the mum.
This manual does not include instructions on how to operate glue gun.
Homecoming Items are seasonal. This means not all the items you need for a
Homecoming Mum will be available year round in arts and crafts stores.
You can find most of these items in a arts and crafts store such as Michaels

Chapter 2: Preparations for mum
In this chapter I will explain how to prepare the materials listed in the previous chapter.

Preparations
How to prepare items for the mum:
1. Using the scissors cut the braid loop chain in half *
*In case one of the loops in the chain comes undone, simply staple it back together.
2. Use the braid loop chain as a guide to measure how long to cut the football garland and
ribbons *
*There should be five strips of each type of ribbon including the foot ball garland. Each
strip should be approximately 2 feet.
3. Using the left over green and white ribbons, cut six 5 inch strips of each color.

Have ribbons, garland, and chain cut to be the appropriate size.
Have six 5 inch ribbons of each color to make the center piece of the mum.
Chapter 3: Procedures on how to make the
centerpiece of the mum
In this chapter I will explain how to make the centerpiece for the Homecoming Mum with the 5
inch strips.

How to make the centerpiece of the mum:
1. Holding a green 5 inch strip make it into a loop.
2. Using 1 of the Round 4 inch paper backer disks carefully staple the loop onto the edge
of the disk
3. Repeat steps 1-2 until you have covered the edge of the disk with all 12 strips.

the previous section.
Chapter 4: Procedures on how to create the mum
In this chapter I will explain how to set out the ribbons to create the Homecoming Mum.

Procedures
How to begin to make the mum:
1. Place the 2nd Round 4 inch disk on a flat open space.
2. Using one the 2 ft “Homecoming” Ribbons place the edge of the ribbon on the edge of
the disk. Continue the same process with the rest of the ribbons. The ribbons should be
placed equally spaced but only on the bottom edge of the disk.
3. Repeat step two with the green and white 2 ft ribbons
4. Carefully staple down all of the ribbons onto the cardboard
5. As indicated in step 2, place the 5 strands of the Football Garland on top of the ribbons,
also equally spaced out.

6. Using the hot glue gun place a pea sized amount of glue onto each football garland and
glue onto ribbons. ☼

Add Glue to the cardboard where the ribbons and garland are on. Also add glue on the
back of the centerpiece cardboard and firmly press together. ☼

In this chapter I will explain how you can personalize your mum with the materials that were
listed in chapter 1.

Personalizing
How to personalize the mum:
1. Using caution add glue to the back of the Emerald Homecoming Burst Charm. ☼
2. Place in the middle of the centerpiece you created in the previous chapter and press
down firmly.
3. Using one of the various mum trinkets add a pea sized amount of glue to the back of the
trinket and carefully place onto the end of one of the white ribbons. Hold in place for a
few seconds.
4. Repeat step 3 for the rest of the mum trinkets

5. Using the silver metallic helmets use the same process as step 3 but place the helmets on
the middle of a homecoming ribbon
