Director’s Corner August already!? We just cannot believe how fast this summer is flying by! We are having so much fun here at the center. Our summer fun club groups are enjoying a great calendar of events and trips, and really enjoying themselves! UPCOMING EVENTS The end of the summer always brings about transitions and changes. If you anticipate a change in schedule or enrollment, please make sure to email us right away. Ms. Rea is one of the SFC teachers and has only been with us a few months, but she sure is loved! She is very attentive to details and makes sure all her kiddos are taken care of each and every day! To start the month off we will be learning about music and dancing. The children will get to explore different types of music to include classical, jazz, and classic rock. We also have different performers who will play music for the children. If anyone is interested in coming and playing an instrument for the children please let us know. The following week we will be learning about the Fine Arts. During this week we will see several different famous paintings during circle time and the children will be given many different open ended materials so they can create their own masterpieces. We will also learn about colors throughout the week. The third week we will be focusing on Architecture. The children will get to be architects and builders by building with many different types of materials. The last week of the month we will be Actors! The children will have many opportunities to act by using puppets, costumes, props, etc. Also, we are very excited to welcome Ms. Rose to our room. We look forward to getting to know her better! We will be imitating animal sounds and movements, feeling different textures of fur, basing our art projects on animal shapes, and enjoying books and songs about animals. Our baby sign this month is "Thank You" and we will be practicing this often, especially at meal times. We are very happy to welcome Ms. Daquelle as part of our Infant A teaching team! In the short time she has been with us she has proven to be a calming and loving presence for our infants. Later this month we will begin to transition some of our older infants to eating meals at a table. It's hard to believe how quickly they are growing! Enjoy this last month of summer! Ms. Linda, Ms. Tracy, Ms. Daquelle Page 3 Toddler B News Toddler B is going to the beach! August will be full of fun in the sun, sand between our toes, lots of water play and learning all about the beach. We're excited to deck out our room to an underwater world! We'll explore sea creatures, shells, beach balls, surfing and so much more. We even have a beach themed day in stored, where we all wear our best beach gear! Be on the lookout for more details soon. Ms. Jessica has decided to go back to school at GVSU to pursue a degree in Phycology start August 31st. She has morning classes until 9:45am on Tuesdays and Thursdays so Ms. Cassie has kindly offered to come in early those days. Other than those two days there are no other changes. We'd also like to wish happy birthdays to Alex (August 15th) and Landri (August 25th). ♥Warm Wishes- Ms. Jessica, Ms. Cassie and Ms. Amber Pre Kindergarten News Summer is passing us by quickly we have about four weeks left before regular school begins. During the month of July we have learned about Gardening, Beach and Camping. Some of the themes we will be working on during the month of August are Zoo Animals, Birds, Rain Forests, and Summer Treats. I will also plan a couple more water days, as the children really enjoy this. Last Week of August before school starts the pre-k teachers will plan lots of fun activities for the children. --Ms. Mariam, Ms. Emily, and Ms. Bev Infant B News I can't believe August is already here! Where has this summer gone? This month we will be incorporating a lot of songs and books into our day. Our friends are very interested in books and love when we sing to them. If your child has a favorite book or song we would love to hear what it is so we can include it in our day. We are going to try to have a couple of water days this month. These will be weather permitting and we will let you know when we are planning on one! We would like to welcome Mia and her family to Infant B. We are very excited to have you apart of our classroom! Ms Terri will be on vacation August 5 – August 12. Ms Jenna will be covering for her, She will be in 7:45am-5pm. Ms Jen will be in 7am-3pm during this time. We are going to soak up all the sunshine and warm weather while we still can. Thank you to everyone that came to the picnic! We love seeing families outside of Milestones. Skyler Dawe is our new opening assistant. We are VERY happy to have her on board in our room. The children love her and so do we! During the month of August we will be doing art outside using materials that we find on the playground. We will also be playing in water and with the sprinkler. Be on the lookout for water day signs! August will also be full of learning circle time songs. We are going to work really hard on creating a circle time routine that the children are excited about! We will also be doing a lot of music activities with instruments. August is shaping up to be a fantastic month!! -Ms. Frankie, Ms, Skyler and Ms. Amber Preschool News Where is summer going??!! August is finally upon us but please don't fret we have a great month planned for summer to go out with a bang!! We are traveling to Thailand, China, Australia, and South Africa!! We will be going on field trips to the Splash Pad, Planetarium, and Boulder Ridge Wildlife Park!! We hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer!! Thanks, ♥Miss Toni and Miss Nikkole Early Preschool News We enjoyed a fun-filled month learning about animals. We learned about farm, circus, ocean and zoo animals. We finished out unit by taking a trip to Boulder Ridge Zoo. It was exciting to see so many different animals. For August, we are doing lots of fun themes to end our summer. The first week we are doing all sorts of fun summer activities, like making popsicles and lemonade, doing lots of water days and doing some art activities outside. Then we will do a week on pirates, a week on Wild West and the last week will be outer space! We plan to enjoy as much of the summer as we can! We have had so much fun in summer fun club this year and have really had some fun trips this past month. Some of our up and coming trips include, Binder Park Zoo, Holland Aquatics Center and Soccer Buddies(Jenison Soccer Zone) just to name a few. We are said to be saying good bye to some of our support staff as they get ready to head off back to school. If you get the chance please make sure to say an extra thank you to Rae, Rachel, Kaitlyn and Courtney as they head back to school over the next few weeks. They have all been such an awesome addition to our program and have made this summer really a great one for your children. We also want to say a special thank you to Ronda for driving us around to these trips we get to take on a daily basis. Ronda will be leaving us Friday, August 7th. Without this awesome group of support staff we wouldn't have the program we have! Here's to a great month of SFC!!!
