OKTOBERFEST ALREADY!?!
Month of August Cancelled
Yes! Our Board of Directors has voted to not have a
club meeting in August, because many members are
out of town, and historically August attendance has
been small. So, we're going to move forward with
vigor to September -- and what happens in
September? Oktoberfest, ja natürlich!
Pictured at left, the Papa Oom Pah Pah band, who
will play Autentische Hungrigen Fünf Musik, as they
have in years past.

NOTES FROM THE BOARD
(This new section replaces the “President’s Letter”.)
There is a big gap between the 4th of July Parade event and Oktoberfest, but we will stay in touch
and the GCGAC will be active. There will be newsletters for August and September. The hiking
group, the Alpine Dancers and our language groups will be bustling. This break will give you time to
get your lederhosen and dirndl ready for Oktoberfest.
For Oktoberfest this year, while not open to the public, we are going to emphasize bringing guests.
Bring family and friends. Just be sure to RSVP with the number attending so we have enough
sausage and beer! (The rumor I would serve salmon is not true.) – Bob Scheetz
What can I say as the treasurer; I take care of the money coming in and going out. There
will always be extra reports printed for you to look over at the club meetings. -- Christa
Leslie Parker's remarks are elsewhere in this newsletter. -- Ed
Be sure to check out the official club web page! It has all kinds of interesting
stuff, including photo galleries, links, and prior newsletters. It’s located at:

Please notify Christel Denzler when you are well or when
you want to be taken off the Gute Besserung list. Thank you!
Wir entschuldigen uns! Last month, in our July
Birthdays, we forgot to list Maria Cabellero's birthday
on July 9, and also missed announcing it on the
radio! How on earth could this have happened?
Happy belated birthday, Maria!
Tune to KNCO Radio AM 830, weekdays at 7:50 a.m. and
5:50 p.m. to hear your birthday greeting from GCGAC!
Lost Hat!
Here is one of the last known photos
of Dennis Naumann's hat, which he
wore at the Fourth of July Parade.
The hat has gone missing since
then. According to Dennis, it has
several ornaments, mementos, and
tchotchkes of sentimental value
collected over the years, and he would appreciate its
return. Have you seen it? Contact Dennis, bitte.
Alpine Dancers
The Alpine Dancers will not be practicing in August. Practices will
resume on Tuesday September 6 at 6:30 pm at the Moss residence in
Lake Wildwood. We need new dancers. If you are interested in
learning German/Austrian Folk Dances please contact David Moss at
432-2236. Lessons are free.

German American Day
Seaman’s Lodge
Christa Benson will steer this meeting so that we do not
go astray. There are certain traditions that will start off
the meeting such as the German and American National
anthems, the flag ceremony and a brief history of
German-American Day.
We are hoping to make a short but informative slide
show of famous (and maybe not so famous) German
Americans that may surprise you!
And of course a delicious German dinner will be served.
November 4
We have not settled on a theme yet but have some great
ideas and suggestions. Stay tuned!
December 3
Christmas Party
Comments and suggestions please!!
