Class 23 (Main Ring) - HEAVY HORSE TURNOUT – TWO WHEELED CARTS Open to heavy horses driven to Single Turnout in harness with two wheeled vehicle driven by a lady or gentleman. Exhibitors may not compete in classes X & Y with the same vehicle. VAT) Judging will commence at 9.00 a.m. in the Main Ring (1) The following two Classes are Qualifiers for the 2016 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships at Driving Addington on 24th September. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for the following Type-Section ‘a’ Single hackney type – over 13.2hh ‘b’ Single hackney type – 13.2hh & under ‘h’ Single registered Mountain & Moorland (excluding pure bred registered Welsh) Disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2016 Semi Finals at Driving Addington. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyred vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible. 31/HS50 THE WYCHE CUP. A Perpetual Challenge Trophy presented by James Benoy Esq., for the Champion Exhibit in the Private Driving Classes to be competed for annually, plus the NAS Championship Rosette, also £20 to the Champion and £10 to the Reserve. 1st and 2nd of Classes 86 and 87 to compete. VAT) Judging in Main Ring 1 – immediately following Championship Class 89 (Main Ring 1) – JUNIOR PRIVATE DRIVING CLASS – SINGLES, PAIRS OR TANDEMS Open to horses or ponies 4 years old or over. The driver must be aged 10 years or over on the first day of the show and to be 17 years of age or under, and accompanied in the vehicle by a competent adult groom. Judged on the ability of the Whip. Prizes: 1st £20; 2nd £15; 3rd £10 33/HS52 DRESDEN MAENED TROPHY. A Perpetual Challenge Trophy presented by Miss C. Heaps of Stockport for the Winner of the Junior Private Driving Class NOTE: The horses or ponies in all the Private Driving Classes must be driven to a suitable vehicle (show wagons and commercial vehicles are not eligible). The Driver to be the owner or member of the owner’s family (professional drivers are not eligible) BDS Regulations concerning young drivers and the wearing of hard hats. Young Drivers The driver must be aged 10 years or over on the first day of the show at which they are to compete. A driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over, a “responsible adult”. Proof of age will be required if necessary. It is the responsibility of the owner/driver (if over 18) or (if the owner/driver is under 18) the responsible adult to ensure that his/her groom/s is/are competent for the purpose of attending to the turnout and aged 10 or over on the day of the show. When in the vehicle grooms, passenger/s and driver must have their feet firmly on the floor of the vehicle or use a suitable fixed footrest. This regulation applies at all times and in all areas on the showground. Hard Hat Ruling All drivers/grooms/passengers under the age of 14 years must wear a correctly fitted hard hat when in a carriage or in attendance to a turnout. 12 Class 90 (Main Ring 1) – PLEASURE DRIVING - SINGLES AND PAIRS – Any height Pleasure Driving classes are for newcomers to showing and not intended for those who show in private driving classes. Regular showing competitors are asked to respect this. Pneumatic tyres specifically designed for carriages (i.e. not car tyres) are allowed. Lamps need not be carried. These classes to be judged on general cleanliness, safety of turnout, correct fitting of harness and vehicle suitability. To be judged: 15% vehicle suitability, fit and cleanliness; 15% harness suitability, fit and cleanliness; 70% driver & groom, horse/pony, way of going and suitability as a family pleasure animal. Competitors may, for example be required to drive and halt between two pairs of cones and/or given other specific movements to execute in their show. Open to horses, ponies, donkeys & mules. A single or pair driven to a vehicle capable of seating 2 or more persons. Traditional and non-traditional vehicles are permitted, and for the purposes of this class they will be judged on equal merit. Prizes: 1st £20; 2nd £15; 3rd £10 All competitors will receive a special rosette presented by Carriage Driving Magazine. THE “DAVID PEAKE” LIGHT HORSE TURNOUT SECTION This Section generously sponsored by David Peake, Wrenbury, Nantwich and for which the Society wishes to acknowledge and thank Judge: C.J. Marson Esq., Swansea Entry Fee: £7.50 (incl VAT) – refund following appearance Judging commences at approx. 11.45 a.m. in Main Ring 1 This Class is a Qualifier for the 2016 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships at Driving Addington on 24th September. The highest placed turnout owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for the following Type-Section ‘j’ Two wheel Light Trade ‘k’ Four wheel Light Trade Disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2016 Semi Finals at Driving Addington. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals. Class 91 (Main Ring 1) – LIGHT HORSE TRADE TURNOUT – open to Horses/Ponies 4 years old or over. Only bona fide vehicles and implements (as determined by the Secretary) accepted, strictly no exercise carts or “Dressing Up” of vehicles, and no goods to be carried unless a coster turnout when a small sample load may be carried. N.B. all Farm Implements must have a Leader and Driver, and please note CHAIN HARROWS will NOT be allowed. This Class open to Coachman Driven Vehicles i.e. Landau, Victoria, Brougham. Prizes: £50 plus refund of entry fee to each entry which appears. In addition:- 1st £20; 2nd £15; 3rd £10; 4th £5 /HS47 Prize to the Winner – Border Fine Arts 29/HS48 THE CREWE AND NANTWICH BOROUGH COUNCIL PERPETUAL TROPHY, presented by the Borough Council, will be awarded to the highest placed Exhibitor in Class 91, who resides in Cheshire East, and is a Member of the British Driving Society. 30/HS49 THE DAVID PEAKE CUP a Perpetual Trophy presented by David Peake Esq., to the memory of his parents “Jack & Nellie”, will be awarded to the Winner of Class 91, to be held for one year.
