Hastings County Community Profile
On behalf of Hastings County and its residents,
I wish to extend a warm welcome. Our County
is vibrant with a rich and colourful history and a
future full of potential. A recent survey of
International and Canadian tourists has even
uncovered that Hastings County is among the
top 15 places visited in Ontario! This
Community Profile was created to provide our
business community, prospective investors and
developers with current information on our
region. It provides a report of our County’s vital
statistics as they relate to demographics,
economic base, education, lifestyle and our
government activity. I am confident that the
information contained within these pages will
be of great benefit to you. Our Profile is
updated annually to ensure that the most
current statistics are available. Should you
have any questions about the information
provided, our economic development staff
within the Planning & Development
Department would be more than pleased to
assist.
Sincerely,
Rick Phillips, Warden

Hastings County commands a unique and enviable position in the Province of Ontario. You can find
yourself just seconds to work and minutes to the cottage. A sound industrial/commercial base,
revitalized downtowns and the legacy of a strong work force has made Hastings County the viable
County that it is today. Hastings County is the second largest County in Ontario with 14 lower-tier
municipalities. These communities offer The Best of Both Worlds. Whether you want to be right in the
centre of town or out on the lake, Hastings offers a great alternative to the large metropolitan city. In
an era when access to broadband and communications breaks down the barriers, no longer does the
large city have the advantage over the small regional community. With the area of 1,473,861 acres
served by Canada’s largest toll-free Highway 401, the Trans Canada Highway #7 and Highways 62,
37, and 28, the County offers excellent road accessibility. You can be in the Greater Toronto Area in
less than 2 hours! The County offers a low cost of living and marvellous educational facilities. Loyalist
College (Canada’s outstanding small college) provides numerous training programs in support of
local businesses and industries. As well, both Trent and Queen’s Universities are within commuting
distance.
Hastings County is the place to invest and expand your business!
