Because L2 model has no seat on the middle port, the pocket can be clogged up by a fluid with solids. In such case, please use L4 or L3 model. Even if non-solenoid valve is installed, please choose position ① or position ② as air leakage position for a single acting port. Accordingly, this type of valve is suitable for lines with highly viscous fluids or fluids that include sludge and fibrous content and the like. In addition, there is no abnormal rise in pressure as in the case of ordinary ball valves, so there is no damage to the ball, seat or other parts due to abnormal pressure increases. ● Tough Seal The use of a metal seat enables the valve to be used in high temperature environments, and the seat has sufficient rigidity and flexibility to provide sealing in pressures ranging from vacuum to high pressure, without being affected by differences in temperature and pressure. The valve is also wear-resistant with respect to fluids containing slurry, powder and other wear-inducing substances. ● Full Flow When the valve is fully open, the flow passage is almost straight, reducing pressure loss and ensuring a large capacity flow. ● Shearing Action The V-shaped cut on the ball shuts out fibrous material, solids and so on, making the valve suitable for use on paper and pulp factory lines. ● Precision Control The V-shaped cut on the ball increases rangeability and enhances flowrate control performance as compared to ball, diaphragm or butterfly valves. In addition, the inherent flow characteristics are approximately equal percent characteristics. ● Configuration Features ● Integrated Body The valve body is an all-in-one body, so there are no fluctuations in valve torque due to pipe stress and no drop in sealing performance or external leakage. The face-to-face specifications are in accordance with ISO 5752. ● Flexible Seat 1) Centripetal Type Seat All three types of seat—solid, thin and soft—are provided with a clearance C for the inner diameter of the body and the outer diameter of the seat. Accordingly, providing a seat on the spherical surface creates a centripetal seal surface for the seat and ensures uniform contacting. – 15 – Manual Ball Valves ■ Tough Seal Type V Port Valve (V100ND) 2) Sealing Principle and Major Applications There are three types of seat: a solid (thick plate) seat, a thin (thin plate) seat and a soft (Reinforced PTFE) seat. Soft Seat (CF) 2.1) Solid (Thick Plate) Seat The notched section provided on the rear surface of the seat clamps the insert tightly in place,enabling the proper allowable valve seat leakage and valve torque to be provided by cantilever action. This type of seat is used primarily for highly viscous fluids and fluids containing slurry and powder. 2.2) Thin (Thin Plate) Seat A thin stainless steel spring is used as the thin seat. As in the case of the solid seat, the sealing principle is cantilever action. However, the thin seat has great flexibility, so the allowable valve seat leakage and valve torque can be set lower than in the case of the solid seat. This type of seat is used primarily for fibrous fluids, highly viscous fluids and sludge. – 16 – ■ Tough Seal Type V Port Valve (V100ND) 2.3) Soft (Reinforced PTFE) Seat The seat is made of Reinforced PTFE (CF). However, as in the case of 2.1) and 2.2), the principle is cantilever action through the use of a seat spring, so stable sealing performance is provided. This type of seat is used primarily for ON-OFF control of water, gas, solvents and other cleaning fluids. 3) Seat Compatibility The solid seat, thin seat and soft seat are compatible with one another. ● Precision Ball The ball is a precision ball manufactured using the lost wax method. The sealing surface is coated with Nickel based self-fluxing alloy or polished with a #400 Buffing. The Nickel based self-fluxing alloy coated sealing surface is precision-lapped. ● Full Flow When the valve is fully open, the ball is almost entirely hidden on the outside of the flow path, preventing fluid blockage and cavitation and allowing slurry and the like to pass smoothly. ● Stable Bearing Performance The bearings provided on the sliding surfaces of the stem and trunnion are made of a special Reinforced PTFE. This reduces operational torque and enables the bearings to cope with very frequent valve action. These two types of flange can be mounted at any three locations to enable various mounting patterns. 3 Ideal Ball Design The integrated ball and stem unit is held in place by bearings at the top and bottom, forming an ideal trunnion (fixed ball) system. The ball radius of curvature is at least 1.5 times the size of the aperture. This reduces pressure loss and minimizes damage to the body and ball from highly wear-inducing fluids (as compared to a 90° three-way valve). 4 Primary Side Seal Mechanism The spring at the seat rear surface (rubber cushion for DN100 and below; metal spring for DN125 and above) provides excellent sealing even in the event of temperature cycles and pressure fluctuations.
