General information on maintenance and cleaning Bill validators, or acceptors, scan currency using optical and magnetic sensors. Upon validation, different bill properties are compared to internal reference values. If the item is accepted, it is retained by the machine and gets placed into the cash box. If the acceptor detects the bill as counterfeit, the piece of currency is rejected by the validator. One has to keep in mind, that the acceptor performs best when its components are clean and undamaged. Any dirt or damages can potentially reduce the acceptance rate of the validator. Generally, the intervals at which the acceptor needs to be cleaned at, depend on different factors. These include, for example, the direct environment surrounding the validator, its application area, and its degree of utilization. Machines that are placed in dusty areas, or smoking areas, should therefore be cleaned relatively often. There is no general rule as too how many times the acceptor should be cleaned, as it depends on the surroundings of the acceptor. Detergents You should use A soft, non-fluffy cloth ( eg: cotton or microfibre) Cotton buds A mild detergent (basic). The cloth/cotton buds can be dampened but make sure no water is going inside the acceptor. The driving belts and the wheels can be cleaned with Isopropanol. Please avoid any contact between the lenses and alcohol or other solvents. An alternative way of cleaning, would be using our JCM cleaning cards. These cleaning cards are designed specifically for cleaning on site. It needs to be mentioned however, that those cards do not replace thorough cleaning. JCM Cleaning Card dirty lenses and roller clean lenses and roller What you should not use! Hard or pointy items should not be used when cleaning. They can scratch the lenses. Do not use solvents like petrol or spirit! These can lead to cloudy optical lenses. Do not clean with compressed air. Maintenance- and Cleaning intervals The head unit should be cleaned every two to three months. (Fig. 02). This applies to general cleaning. Under unfavourable circumstances the head unit should be cleaned more often. Procedure: Clean thoroughly all lenses, wheels and driving belts (note yellow marked areas) and check the head unit for potential damages. The UV reflector (marked in red) needs to be cleaned as well. Open the head unit by pulling at the locks. fig 02 Example for contaminations QA-IF007 R02E Wartungsanleitung UBA_newLogo.doc Japan Cash Machine Germany GmbH Page 6 of 17 Maintenance Manual fig 03 UBA Series fig 04 Cleaning with the JCM Cleaning card The JCM cleaning card is a preventative tool, that is designed to reduce contaminations and paper abrasion. Optimum functionality is ensured between the regular cleaning intervals. Fig. 05 Procedure: 1. Make sure the machine is switched on, and does not malfunction. 2. Remove the cleaning card from its packaging and insert it into the acceptor, like a normal bill. 3. The cleaning card is accepted and rejected. 4. Repeat the process. 5. At the last turn, when the bill validator accepts the bill and tries to place it into the cash box, hold on tight to the cleaning card, so that the driving belts get cleaned. 6. After having used the cleaning card, make sure to through it away. QA-IF007 R02E Wartungsanleitung UBA_newLogo.doc Japan Cash Machine Germany GmbH Page 7 of 17 Maintenance Manual UBA Series Thorough cleaning and checking is recommended every eight to twelve months. The intervals are shorter under unfavourable conditions. Procedure 1. Remove the head unit. (fig 06) Fig.06 2. Check for any superficial damages Again check for damages in the cog wheels etc. Damaged parts need to be changed. The acceptor can also be sent to JCM-G. The parts that need to be cleaned are numbered on the photograph. Dust and dirt need to be removed, too!! Testing and cleaning! NB: The belts and wheels need to be cleaned the whole way through. They can be moved by hand. . This may not only result in because of the acceptor’s direct environment, but also because the parts are getting older. If the acceptance rate is still low after cleaning the acceptor, and no mechanical problems are obvious, the sensors may need to be calibrated.(fig 5.). In the unlikely event of continued malfunction please write down the 1. 2. 3. 4. name of the product serial number Software Version LED Blink Codes and contact our Customer Support 5. Adjustment There are two kinds of adjustment => Quick adjustment und PC supported adjustment Please note! Please note the settings of the dipswitch, so that they can be repositioned to their original settings, after the adjustment. An adjustment is only possible if: - the machine was cleaned! - the head unit and the carrying unit are inserted and the acceptor is plugged in - the face plate was removed. Different accessories are needed in order to successfully carry out an adjustment (details fig 6. accessories). The adjustment paper is specifically fitted to the model and the width of the head unit. We therefore kindly ask you to check which adjustment paper you are using! The adjustment is only possible if the adjustment paper is clean and undamaged. Please handle the paper carefully, put it in a plastic bag, and store it in a lightproof area. QA-IF007 R02E Wartungsanleitung UBA_newLogo.doc Japan Cash Machine Germany GmbH Page 10 of 17 Maintenance Manual UBA Series Quick Adjustment This procedure is useful for the application on site. It is not as exact as the PC supported adjustment, but can be carried out easily and without any additional materials. Procedure: 1. turn off the electricity 2. turn on (DIP Switch) No. 1,5,6,7 and 8 (fig 10) 3. connect the UBA to the power supply 4. insert the black side of the calibration paper (KS-069) into the UBA (fig 11) 5. The acceptor will accept and reject the paper, and will return the paper after the adjustment If the green LED light flashes, the adjustment was successful. If the red LED light flashes, the UBA needs to be checked again. Fig. 10 QA-IF007 R02E Wartungsanleitung UBA_newLogo.doc Japan Cash Machine Germany GmbH Page 11 of 17 Maintenance Manual UBA Series PC supported adjustment This procedure is more complex than the quick adjustment, but it does provide more reliable results, as all sensors are calibrated. When possible you should use this method! You need the following accessories for the PC supported adjustment: MIB232 Black Reference Paper (KS-0… ) White Reference Paper (KS-0 …) Mag-Tool MG-03 JCM Adjustment Software Methodology 1. turn off the electricity 2. turn on position 8 of the dipswitch . Fig. 11 3. turn on the electricity. 4. wait until both LED lights on the CPU board are switched on. QA-IF007 R02E Wartungsanleitung UBA_newLogo.doc Japan Cash Machine Germany GmbH Page 12 of 17 Maintenance Manual UBA Series 5. Turn off DIP switch position No. 8 6. Open the JCM Adjustment Software UBA_Adjustment V106-04.exe and click on „Start“. 7. You might need to type in the serial no, click on OK. 8. Follow the instructions shown on the above left side. QA-IF007 R02E Wartungsanleitung UBA_newLogo.doc Japan Cash Machine Germany GmbH Page 13 of 17 Maintenance Manual UBA Series Procedure: Insert the white reference paper. Put on the lid and click Enter Insert black paper. Put the lid back on (click) => OK (Enter) Insert UV- reference paper. Put the lid back on (click) => OK (Enter) 9. Using the MAG tool (Adjust MAG peak) When the first part of the adjustment is done, the magnetic sensors need to be calibrated. In order to do this, please use the JCM-G MAG Tool (fig 13). After switching on the MAG tool, insert the green board, as far as the label.„WBA 1x/2x“, into the head unit. The board needs to be moved forwards and backwards until the software recognizes the maximum amplitude. Click on ENTER and do not move the board. The WBA is adjusted within a few seconds.
