We are an innovative supplier of temperature
instrumentation for the OEM, military/commercial,
process industry and nuclear power markets. In
business since 1968, Weed has proven capabilities to
not only design temperature sensing devices for
extremely demanding applications, but also meet the
unique requirements of our customers. Weed has
provided sensors to measure temperature in aircraft
environmental control systems, wing-deicing, fluid
immersion and engine test stands. Weed also has the
capability to design and manufacture sensors for the
demanding brake and surface temperature
measurement market segments.

Weed has always been associated with difficult
applications, high temperature, high vibration and high
radiation. Weed has the capability to design and
assemble the entire sensor package - sensing
element, enclosure, interconnect and transmitter to
meet the most demanding needs. At Weed the

Weed's modern, highly efficient, 50,000 square foot
manufacturing facility is uniquely equipped and staffed
for the demanding requirements of Aerospace/Military
products. Weed was originally founded to
manufacture platinum wire wound RTD's. Only a few
companies in the world retain the capability to
successfully fabricate custom wire wound RTD's. We
are well known in the industry for our ability to design
and produce exceptionally rugged, high precision,
custom elements. Our highly skilled and experienced
Associates and our proprietary fabrication
technologies allow us to solve application problems
that baffle many of our competitors.
RTD fabrication capabilities are enhanced by our state
of the art Metrology Lab. Our modern computer
controlled metrology capabilities are unique in our
industry. We can provide certified NIST traceable
sensor calibrations from -80C to 650C and any point
in between. Our large suite of calibration baths and
multiple SPRT's give us tremendous flexibility for
simultaneous calibrations. We can also provide
standard ASTM E644 method response time
measurements using our proprietary response time
bath.
A series of focused work cells give us both flexibility
and efficiency in production. We can handle repetitive
manufacture and small lot processing with equal ease.
Our computer based Manufacturing Resource
Planning (MRP) system coupled with creative use of
simple KanBan principles provides rapid response
and quick throughput. All production is driven and
controlled by formal work orders detailing the work to
be done and the applicable quality specifications.
Close cooperation between Production operations and
Quality operations insures that our customers receive
high quality product on schedule.
Weed's experienced and skilled engineering staff is
available to develop the optimum solution to their
measurement requirements. In addition, they are
responsible for defining the production processes
required to best meet the design intent and for
following through the manufacturing process to make
sure that the selected processes yield the desired
results reliably and economically.
For our customers with more complex product
development or qualification requirements a project
engineer will provide project management expertise
for complete development of the sensor, sensor
package, sensor interface and any necessary
electronics. The Project engineer will serve as the
customer's ombudsman inside Weed ensuring that the
design, fabrication, calibration and qualification meet
all performance specifications

Quality Assurance
Weed Instrument maintains a mature quality assurance
system that is registered to ISO 9001:2000 and is also
based on the requirements of AS9100. The system is
structured around employee involvement, established
quality objectives, and continuing improvement initiatives
with the ultimate goal of customer satisfaction.
Strict adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements
as well as customer specifications is achieved during
engineering/design, production and post-delivery phases.

Accurately identify and calibrate Weed sensors using

Our smart sensors can be automatically configured
to your data acquisition system, eliminating the
need to re-enter data, which can be costly, time
consuming and error prone. This is accomplished
by either a smart chip embedded with the sensor,
or via a virtual electronic data sheet available to
you via the web 24/7.
As a National Instruments Sensor Partner, all of our
products have been evaluated as compliant with the IEEE
1451.4 standard for plug-and-play compatibility. We
actively promote this open standard for automated sensor
information; analog sensor compatibility is needed for
improved integration and interoperability of sensor-based
measurement and automation systems.
Sensor data critical and specific to your unique
product and application are now available in a
standardized electronic format. Never be in doubt
again as to which sensor is properly calibrated or
identified. This offers added security and peace of
mind in flight test and structural test, for example,
providing manufacturer and user information unique
and permanently affixed to the sensor.

Chisholm Trail, which brought longhorn cattle north through indian
territory to Kansas over 100 years ago. Round Rock is also part of the high tech metroplex
of Austin, home to numerous high technology enterprises and innovative manufacturing and
