Combined with the Shoot-Out, The Angelus received the benefits of both events amounting to over $100,000. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was most helpful, in that they “forgave” our entire hotel bill plus gave us an additional $10,000 bonus! Many thanks to everyone that was involved, especially Charlie Daniels. We are planning Charlie’s 25th year of coming to The Angelus. Mark your calendar now and be prepared for a blow out on December 3-4-5. The Christmas pageant once again was beautiful and quite well attended! So many of you came out to see the real Christmas story. Our residents perform this pageant every year—- the story never changes, but it is always a thrill for them to be able to participate and make this a gift for you. Advisors Frank Parker Jason Marques THE ANGELUS, INC. What more can we say about our Halloween event?? The 3-D rooms can compete with any other haunted house event and we would beat them! It gets bigger and better every year and Don Surenkamp from Patriotic Fireworks is already planning a lot of new haunts. Watch for specific dates, but you can count on every weekend in October. This is the ONLY handicapped accessible Halloween event in Florida with so many different things to see and do. A perfect family outing for all of Pasco (and more). We can’t wait to see all the many news things Don has planned for next year!! Page 1 The Angelus has been “home base” for our boy scout Troop 79. This troop has guided many Eagle Scouts and we are proud to have been the recipient of many of their projects. Picnic tables, benches, the bell tower, gardens, the Tiki Hut—- just a few of the things this troop has done. The boys have grown up and now we are looking for new members. Please join our boy scout troop! They are a great bunch and do a lot of things together. Camping is always a fun time and this troop has a trailer with lots of equipment, ready to go!! Anyone interested in joining or helping the scouts, please contact Tammy Balcerzak at 727-457-4912 for more information. The Florida West Coast Anglers have planned another fishing trip for our residents. Each resident is provided their own boat complete with the Captain. They go out in flotilla style and the residents are assisted with baiting, casting and reeling in their catch. What a thrill it is for them as well as the staff that assist. We thank this organization for providing this adventure for our people. They would never be able to experience the thrill of boating and fishing if you didn’t provide all you do!! Since the publication of our last newsletter our Human Resource Manager, Joelle Neri has received her degree, certifications and an award. She has earned a Bachelor’s of Art in Human Resource Management from Saint Leo University (BA H.R.A.). Joelle has achieved her Professional of Human Resources, (PHR), certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute.. She has also earned her SHRM-CP identifying her as a SHRM certified professional. Finally, she has been identified as WOMAN OF THE YEAR FOR 2014 by the Organization of Professional Women. Congratulations Joelle from everyone here at The Angelus. THE ANGELUS, INC. Page 2 Every year, we select an employee that has served The Angelus in a capacity that is “over and beyond” the call of duty. These “angels” are not doing this job for the money. They are doing it to bring out the best in every person they care for. This year, the award went to two special people, Angela Swan and Greg Campbell. Angela has been with The Angelus for mzny years. She has worked with every resident and knows all their likes, dislikes, moods, sorrows and joys. Over the years Angela has always shown compassion and interest, providing the quality care they all deserve. Greg is lovingly known as our “anorexic Santa Claus”. He is the maintenance supervisor and wears a long white beard, so you won’t miss him!! Greg is the man that keeps everything clean, painted, repaired and supplied. He is always considerate of each resident as well as the staff—- he’s the type of guy that will go out of his way to help anywhere and anytime he can. Congratulations Angela and Greg!! We have a volunteer group called “Angelus Angels”. The members of this “club” come out to The Angelus every time we have a special event. They work wherever they are needed and have been a big help to us. They are here for the Halloween Haunted house, the Charlie Daniels Event, the Family Fun and Fireworks Extravaganza, and so many other projects. They invite you to join—- just call Joe McNulty at 813-210-2371 or Duane Troutwine at 813-863-5131 for more information. A memorial service was held on March 3 for our long time resident, Bob Peoples. He passed away on Thursday, February 26—- he was 63 years old. Bob and his father Jack, moved to Holiday from Cleveland after the death of his mother, Jane in 1974. Bob started coming to our Day Program when it first started, in 1988. He became a full time resident in 1995 and his father passed in 2000. Since that time, Bob enjoyed the companionship of his fellow Angelus residents and dedicated caring staff. His sister, Nancy Janosko and her husband Bob had moved to Dade City and enjoyed having Bob visit them on a regular basis. Bob’s happy disposition, ready smile and sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. THE ANGELUS, INC. Page 3 Our brick path has been moved and consolidated to make it easier for you to find your brick!! These memorial bricks are an awesome tribute to your loved ones as well as some of the other bricks that express special events and happenings. Please come to our Annual Picnic May 3rd, and find your brick. If you don’t have one yet, now would be a good time to order!! How about birthdays, graduations, anniversaries???
