Zamarano, a prestigious agricultural/
horticultural college located just
outside the capital of Tegucigalpa.
Visit the beautful Lake Yajoa and
Pulhapanzak Falls, and explore the
amazing Maya Ruins of Copan.
Interact with fellow garden
enthusiasts at the garden club of San
Pedro Sula and visit the historical
Lancetillea Botanical Gardens. Also
included are opportunities to swim
with dolphins, enjoy a boat tour of
Cuero y Salado Reserve, and hike
through the lush tropical forests of
Pico Bonito National Park.

ITINERARY
DAY 1 - TEGUCIGALPA
Upon arrival at Tegucigalpa International Airport, transfer
to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner this evening and
meet your guide for a briefing of the tour. Overnight at
Hotel Honduras Maya. (D)
DAY 2 - TEGUCIGALPA
Visit Zamarano, Central America’s leading agricultural
university. Meet professors and students while learning the
many ways Zamarano is such a success. Overnight at Hotel
Honduras Maya. (BLD)
DAY 3 - TEGUCIGALPA
This morning take a guided hike in the private cloud
forest belonging to Zamarano. Students and professors
use this cloud forest for research and to practice plant
identification skills. This afternoon visit private gardens
and nurseries in Tegucigalpa. Overnight at Hotel Honduras
Maya. (BLD)
DAY 4 - YAHOA LAKE
Travel to the largest lake in Honduras, Lago Yahoa. This
beautiful area is home to an incredible diversity of flora
and fauna. Discuss challenging environmental issues of the
lake with your guide during a relaxing boat ride. Dinner at
the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Las Glorias. (BLD)
DAY 5 - COPAN
This morning visit Pulhapasaz Falls, one of the most
beautiful falls in Honduras. Swim in the pools at the
bottom of the falls and explore the Maya ruins on the
grounds. Picnic lunch at the falls. Continue to the town
of Copan, home to famous Maya ruins. Overnight at Hotel
Marina Copan. (BL)
DAY 6 - COPAN
After breakfast, take a guided tour of the Copan ruins
followed by a visit to the Museum of Mayan Sculpture.
Late this afternoon travel a short distance to the hillsides
of Copan and Hacienda San Lucas. Overnight at Hotel

DAY 7 - SAN PEDRO SULA
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the Maya ruins at
Sepelatura. Later travel to Lancetilla Botanic Gardens
near the Caribbean port town of Tela. Lunch en route.
Following your visit, transfer to the hotel in San Pedro
Sula. Overnight at Crowne Plaza Hotel. (BL)
DAY 8 - ROATAN, BAY ISLANDS
Visit the Honduran Foundation of Agricultural Research
(FHIA). Meet with special guides and professors to
discover the projects underway at the foundation.
Following lunch transfer to the airport for a short flight
to Roatan. Upon arrival transfer to your beachfront cabin.
Remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Hidden
Garden Cabins. (BL)
DAY 9 - ROATAN, BAY ISLANDS
Learn about the incredible dolphins at Anthony’s Key
then take the opportunity to swim with these incredible
creatures. At an additional expense, spend an optional
full day with the dolphins and their trainers. Lunch at
Anthony’s Key Resort. Remainder of the day at leisure.

DAY 10 - LA CEIBA
This morning transfer to the Roatan boat dock for a ferry
ride to the mainland. Upon arrival transfer to Pico Bonito
Lodge. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore the
grounds, hike through Pico Bonito National Park, swim
the waterfalls of the park or the pool of the resort, and
take a guided night hike to see nocturnal species of the
forest. Overnight at The Lodge at Pico Bonito. (BD)
DAY 11 - LA CEIBA
This morning after breakfast transfer to the railroad station
for a rail cart ride to the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Reserve.
Upon arrival meet your local hosts and take a relaxing boat
ride along the rivers, looking for flora and fauna. Later you
may want to meet local people of the reserve, including
the children and their modest school. Enjoy a typical
lunch prepared by the residents of the reserve. There are
beautiful beaches the other side of the reserve to swim in.
Afternoon free to relax at the lodge. This evening enjoy
a farewell dinner with a special guest of the Pico Bonito
National Park system who will speak about the challenges
of this amazing park. Overnight at The Lodge at Pico
Bonito. (BLD)
DAY 12 - FAREWELL!
Transfer to the La Ceiba airport for a 15 minute flight to
San Pedro Sula. Upon arrival, connect with your flight
back to the United States. (B)

Cost does not include international airfare.
Single supplement is available for $280.
THE FINE PRINT
Rates are based on double occupancy for participants and do not
include international airfare. Holiday surcharges may apply. Program
may incur unforeseen fuel surcharges. A $200 per person deposit and
enrollment form is due upon booking and no later than four months
prior to departure. This deposit is refundable until 95 days prior to
departure excluding a $100 cancellation fee. Final payments are
due no later than 95 days prior to departure. Cancellations received
less than 95 days prior to departure are not refundable. Travel/trip
