TITLE: Bittersweet, Apocalyptica feat. Ville Valo and Lauri Ylönen
COMPOSITON AND LYRICS BY: Apocalyptica
GENRE: Musicvideo
RUNNING TIME: 3min 40sec
ASPECT RATIO: 1.78:1 / 16:9
CAMERA: Red One Camera
SMALL SYNOPSIS: A beautiful, angelic woman is longed after her death by two men (Valo, Ylönen) –
Their love towards her is so deep that they try to contact her spirit by Ouija board.
The spirit of the young woman – now trapped in a place reminding of a sinister version of Elysian Fields
– does not understand what is after her, and so she tries to escape the calling. She will succeed, her
afterlifepower being greater than the power of the men.
In the end it is revealed, that the two men themselves are being posessed by a darker force.
A COLLABORATION
The musicvideo itself excists to promote the previously mentioned finnish talents – Apocalyptica, Him
and Rasmus – and even combining the already excisting fanbases by bringing them together, and
presenting the participants together. By doing this, also Finnish potent itself is highly promoted.
The musicvideo is being directed and edited by Antti Jokinen.
“The inspiration for the visual aspects of Bittersweet came from Kalevala, a core collection of finnish
mythologies – The untouched land, in all its rareness, like the other onscreen characters, tells a story of
its own. - - - Also, the swamp-area of Sodankylä represents the kind of nature that is understood being
very Finnish.”
INTRODUCTION of the MUSICIANS
APOCALYPTICA
Current members; Paavo Lötjönen, Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Mikko Siren
Apocalyptica is an internationally recognised cello-quartet, best know for their innovative way of
combine metalmusic with classical elements – Namely, the cello.
Since 1996, the band has come a long way – First playing covers by such bands as Metallica, Faith No
More and Pantera, and further along the journey has been continuing by the quartet playing their own
compositions. Apocalyptica is also collaborating with other top selling artists, f.i. Nina Hagen, Sandra
Nasic (Guano Apes), Linda Sundbland (Lambretta), Till Lindemann (Rammstein) and Corey Taylor
(Slipknot).
Apocalyptica has also been rewarded by their feature film compositions in Finland – They received an
Jussi-reward in 2008 February – Soundtrack of the film Musta jää, Black Ice.
“There`s a primitivity to be found in both metal and classical music
- It`s more hidden in classical music, but it`s very powerful and strong. If you listen to the symphonies of
Shostakovich, when he`s really going hard it`s comparable to Pantera or Sepultura, Also, people in both
worlds love good musicians.” – Eicca Toppinen

shades with an classical string instrument.
Him has been awarded in many occasions, by different sources; In 2004
Ville Valo was nominated as “Golden God” of the year, by the British
metal magazine Metal Hammer. In 2006 the release Dark Light broke the
border of 500 000 sold records in United Statesof America, making Him

LAURI YLÖNEN, The Rasmus
Lauri Ylönen is the lead singer of the Finnish rock`n`punk sensation The
Rasmus, which has been selling gold and platinum releases all over the
world.
The band was formed in 1994, when the members of the band were still
young punk fans – Since then the style of the group has been evolving, from
punk to pop, and towards more serious rock`n`roll.
Lauris high pitched voice makes a good companion to Ville Valos deeper one
– Apocalyptica combining the two forces with a third one, the cellos.
