PASTOR’S CORNER
Beloved Parishioners & Friends of St. Sharbel,
The vision of Transformation Church is birthed out of the very
heart of Jesus.
The Great Commandment:
And Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This
is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You
shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two
commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew
22:37-40
The Great Commission:
And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on
earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of
all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the
end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
In Transformation Church's vision, "Multi -ethnic,
Multi-generational, mission-shaped community" is from the
Great Commission and "Love God completely (Upward), Love
ourselves correctly (Inward), and our neighbors compassionately
(Outward)" is from the Great Commandment.
Wishing you God’s choicest blessing, I remain
Devotedly yours,
Chorbishop Alfred Badawi
LITURGICALLY SPEAKING
FEAST OF THE BODY OF CHRIST
The institution of the Eucharist is celebrated on Holy Thursday.
On that day, we also commemorate Christ’s washing of the
disciples' feet, the institution of the priesthood and the agony of
the Garden of Gethsemane.
For this reason, the Feast of the Body of Christ (Corpus Christi)
was established to create a feast focused solely on the Holy
Eucharist.
In 1264, Pope Urban IV instituted he Feast of the Body of Christ
to be celebrated on the Thursday after Pentecost, and thus honor
the belief in the body and blood of Jesus Christ and His Real
Presence in the Eucharist, with a Feast Day outside the Season of
Lent. The Pope wanted to give the faithful an opportunity to
revive their love and fervor for the Holy Eucharist.
PRAYER...
Loving and merciful God, we thank you for the 28 years of
blessings upon our parish of Saint Sharbel founded here at this
location in Warren. We ask you to send down your Holy Spirit
upon each member of this parish and fill us with love as we begin
our new journey. Make us instruments of this love to share with
everyone that we encounter at home, at school and at work, in our
neighborhoods and throughout our parish community. Work
through us so that we can bring your loving presence to those who
are searching for you. Help us to grow in gratitude so that we can
recognize and thank you for all the good things you have given to
us. Instill in us a deep sense of generosity so that we can willing to
share our gifts, our talents, our time, and our financial resources
with others. Deepen our desire to listen for your voice, to follow
your will and to do all things for your honor and glory! Help us to
live our faith and to cherish our Maronite Syriac tradition. May
your light shine through us and may the Holy Eucharist be our
unity and our life. To you be glory and thanksgiving now and forever. Amen. Read by Sarah Ashkar (5/31/15)
