Quick, Simple e reliable 2. Env Results verified & certified 3. Product comparisons possible 4. Public consultation process Barilla is the First Private Company 28 Barilla EPD Process System 29 A “FUNNEL” PROCESS PRODUCT The system works as a “funnel process”: data DATA COLLECTION AND MANAGEMENT SPECIFIC DATA LCA DATABASE from the database and from product specific information are processed by the product system tool in DATA PROCESSING order to have the specific LCA data sheet. This document is then RESULTS MANAGEMENT (Internal documentation production) LCA data sheet used for the preparation of the EPD. INDICATORS PUBLISHED EPD EPD IN PROCESS TOTAL MODULE AVAILABLE DATA Situation at 30/04/2012 DESCRIPTION 15 Number of published EPDs available 13 Number of the product that will be covered by an available EPD when the running project will be completed 610 Total amount of the data modules that are needed for completing the 97% Percentage of the total data module available for EPD realization. It EPD activities included in the running project. represents how much the data collection performance is completed. Percentage of the total data module that are validated and ready for the VALIDATED DATA 79% EPD calculation. Barilla EPD Process System THREE VERIFICATION LEVEL The Reliability of EPD Process is ensured by three verification level: 1. Database, LCA and EPD verification, made by the Data Assessor 2. EPD Process verification by means of: a. internal audit, performed by the Process Assessor b. external audit, performed by a Verification Body (accredited body certified for audit of management systems) 3. Peer review on specific datamodule (e.g. data about cereals) 35 36 37 Galletti – Mulino Bianco 38 Arrabbiata sauces 39 System indicators EPD Certified & Published (15) 40 EPD in progress 2012 Retailers Sustainability Product Measurement Initiatives 1.
