Fall / Winter Program 2013
Fall / Winter
Program 2013
From the Director’s Desk
Summer 2013
Summer is almost in the rear view mirror, making room for fall winds and
the rustle of autumn leaves. But before we turn the corner to fall I would like
to thank everyone who joined us at the Park District for some summer fun.
Our day camps and childcare programs saw some new faces this summer; the
Sunset Concerts brought thousands of people outdoors to enjoy some music
under the stars. The Park District celebrated a few milestones this summer.
Hickory Ridge golf Course celebrated its 20th season of play on June 30th and
the brand new disc golf course, Hickory Winds, opened June 15, 2013.
Let’s keep the positive momentum going, and remember to “TAKE TIME
FOR FUN” this fall.

General Information
For more information Call 549-4222
Do I pay the Resident
or Regular fee?
The Resident / Regular fee is determined by your home address
and whether or not you reside within the Carbondale Park District
taxing district. Carbondale Park District taxpayers receive the
Resident fee rate. If you own your home, your property tax bill will
reflect whether or not you pay a Carbondale Park District tax. You
may have a Carbondale address but reside outside the Park District
tax boundary. That is why we ask what your address is when you
register.
Minimum/Maximum
Participation Policy
Program fees are based on a minimum number of participants
signing up. The minimum number of enrollees is necessary to
cover the cost of offering the program. If less than the minimum
number of participants required are enrolled at the registration
deadline, the Carbondale Park District reserves the right to cancel
that program. Those enrolled will be notified of the cancellation
and will receive a full refund by mail. The maximum number of
participants is determined based on safety, facility limitations, and
quality assurance.
Program Cancellation Refund
When a program is cancelled by the Carbondale Park District,
for any reason, a 100% program registration fee refund will be
issued to each cancelled program registrant.
Refund Policy
A 100% program registration fee refund will be issued only if
a request for a refund is made no less than three business days
prior to the start of the program. A 50% program registration
fee refund will be issued only if a written request for a refund is
received prior to the second scheduled meeting of the program.
There will be no program registration fee refunds given after
the second scheduled meeting of the program except as defined
under Medical Refund Requests.

Instructional Swim Classes
Swim lessons can save a life, build a child’s confidence, and introduce students to a lifelong habit of water exercise and/or competition. Our carefully selected instructors are certified American Red Cross (ARC) Water Safety Instructors. Our curriculum is expertly
planned using the water safety guidelines outlined by the American Red Cross. Whether your child is fearful of the water or just
wants to perfect a particular stroke, we have a right class for you!
Our highest priority is to provide all swim lesson participants with a safe and comfortable place to learn swimming skills that are
appropriate for their needs and abilities. Tot docks may be used to decrease water depth in the Parent Tot Exploration and Preschool
Levels. Upon registration, we will ask that you choose the lesson level that best fits your child. The suggested ages listed are merely
designed to serve as a guide but should not be the main determinant in selecting a class for your child.
Registration deadline is the day prior to the start of class. Please plan accordingly to ensure timely registration. The LIFE Community
Center is open Monday – Thursday from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, Fridays from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
