USED CHILDREN’S BOOKS “Even though the books are worn, they hold wonderful stories waiting to be shared.” The Giltner Elementary school is once again requesting used book donations to be used for a spring “Adopt a Book” activity at our next Literacy Night. Please drop off your book donations at the Giltner school office by the beginning of March (we will continue to take donations year round). Thank you, Mrs. Reeson Title I Teacher Giltner Elementary School GILTNER’S Giltner, NE LITTLE EINSTEINS MONTHLY NEWS February 2012 Volume 2, Issue 2 Back at It A MONTH OF UNDERWATER FUN In January, the kids have been studying about “under the water life”. They read Fishy Tales, which helps them understand how different sea creatures live. With this story the kids pretended to go fishing with real poles and bobbers. They also had a sink/ float lab and observed “real live fish”. They also read A House for Hermit. This was a story about underwater life but also presented the kids a message about “growing up”. With the story we made a box town and built different businesses and role played being the customers 5 SENSES The infant class has been learning and exploring their “5 Senses”. They got to marker and paint with their hands. Some liked this better than others. They read stories feeling the animals and hearing the sounds these animals make. They enjoyed exploring jello and tasting it. But as always the favorite of both teacher and children was music. These kids love dancing to music which always brings a smile to the teachers face. Item 1. Call meeting to order: President Hinrichs called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m., with board members, Burson, Most, Hinrichs, Waddle, and Watson present. Burson moved that it hereby be determined that this public meeting was preceded by public notice and is determined to be legal and in open session. Open meetings laws are posted on the South Wall of the meeting room. Motion seconded by Most. Motion carried by roll call vote: 5 voted yes and 0 voted no. Motion by Burson and second by Watson to excuse the absence of board member Cates.Motion carried by roll call vote: 5 voted yes and 0 voted no. Superintendent Lambert reported on NETA conference on 4/27, SOCS Website Company, Labor Relations Conference info, early state aid info, and negotiation timeline info. Item 7. New Business: A. Waddle motioned and seconded by Watson to approve the Sargent Drilling bid. (Depreciation Fund) Motioned carried by roll call vote:5 voted yes and 0 voted no. B. Burson motioned and seconded by Most to approve Loren Humphrey (Football Crown) bid to redo football field crown. (Depreciation Fund) Motioned carried by roll call vote: 5 voted yes and 0 voted no. C. Most motioned and seconded by Waddle to approve the Tilley Sprinkler System bid for football/practice field area. Item 9. Closed Session: Burson motioned and seconded by Most to go into executive session to discuss negotiations. The executive session is strategy session on bargaining. Time 8:14 p.m. Motioned carried by roll call vote: 5 voted yes and 0 voted no. At 8:37 p.m. Hinrichs motioned and a seconded by Most to come out of executive session.
