OUR PARNERSHIP WITH
PROSTATE CANCER UK
Football’s partnership with
Prostate Cancer UK began
at the start of the 2014/15
season with a two-year
agreement seeing all
Football League club
players wearing numbers
on the back of their jersey
with the Prostate Cancer
Man.
Scunthorpe United took this
partnership further ahead of
the 2015/16 season; making them their official
shirt sponsors for the campaign and wearing
their logo for all 46 league matches and any
cup fixtures that the Iron participate in.
The club’s partnership doesn’t just stop at massive
companies – we are delighted to support a number of
charities, both locally and nationally in aiding their
recognition, funding and awareness of what they are all
about.
A football club is also an excellent stream to circulate your
business’ or charities’ message that may not ordinarily
reach this sort of public domain.
On confirmation of the partnership, Iron Chief Executive
Officer James
Rodwell said:
“These are exciting
times at Glanford
Park with a new
stadium coming and
the prospect of a successful season on the pitch, so we
wanted to do something special to recognise this.
“We are delighted Prostate Cancer UK have agreed to work
with us to promote the cause and raise some much needed
funds to help battle what is a killer disease.”
Meanwhile, Mark Bishop, Prostate Cancer UK’s Director of
Fundraising, said: “The partnership with Scunthorpe United
is a fantastic chance to boost awareness of the disease and
new thousands of pounds to help more men survive in the
future.
“Football is vital to us, because it reaches thousands of men
unreachable by conventional health messages. Scunthorpe
United is very much Men United.”
The Statistics:
1 in 8: Men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Over 42,000: Men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the
UK every year – more than 110 every day.
Over 300,000: Men are living with prostate cancer in the UK.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
