FARM TO TABLE- Drama Teacher Handout
Time: 45 minutes- 1 hour
1. Once tables have been cleaned, utilizing the attached Drama Handout,
turn on work music and have students fill out the questions about their
cow. You may want to prompt each of the questions aloud or improvise
more character building questions as you see fit.
2. Warm Up: Walk as your cow
Walk around the room in the character of your cow (without the mask
on). Encourage students to think about the energy of their cow: are they
fast or slow? Are they heavy (stomping around) or light (gliding around)?
Coach them to walk 30 seconds as if:
-They are in a hurry.
-It is the saddest day of their life.
-It is the best day of their life. (They just got their greatest want)
3. Create: Partner up and draw a scene location from the list attached.
Create a short (1-2 minute) scene between your cow and your partner’s
cow. Try to incorporate each of the handout questionsFi into the scene in
some way.
4. Develop: Teacher works with each group to make their scenes more
specific, developing bold character choices, encouraging a point of
conflict, and finishing the scene with either:
1. Both characters getting what they want.
2. Neither character getting what they want.
3. One character getting what they want, while the other does not get
what they want.
5. Perform: Each pair performs their scene for the class.
