TOM LACK CATAMARANS
THE NEW LUXURIO
Tom Lack
To celebrate our Silver Anniversary in British
Boat Building, we have designed and launched
our fourth sistership, the 10 metre Catalac 34
Cruising Catamaran.
The other members of this family are 12, 9,
and 8 metres. (40, 30 and 27 feet) over 500 of
which are in commission, giving pleasure and
leisure for their Owner's enjoyment.
Our new 10 metre will emulate this
Company's reputation for well-built and
intelligently designed Cruising Catamarans,
giving excellent comfort and safety to all who
sail in our Catalacs. Our first and foremost aim
is to ensure relaxation, reliability and
reassurance to the families who are taken out to
sea, offshore and across the oceans, for the
Catalacs have enjoyed many years of troublefree, safe, superlative cruising.
We will take pleasure in introducing you to any
of our owners, all of whom will be glad to
relate to you the companionship they have
derived from being a member of the Lack
family, who give every moment of their time to
create a second-to-none after-sales service
which, they consider, is essential to support '
and maintain a very enviable reputation.
May I extend an invitation to you? — Come
and join our family.
US 10 METRE CATALAC 34 CRUI
The 10 METRE CATALAC 34 is built on hard chine, load carrying hulls, on
lines well proven by her sisterships. Like her very famous fore-runners she is
proving to be exceptionally safe (as one would expect from a Catalac) and
particularly fleet of foot. She has managed to sail very comfortably up to 35
degrees off the wind at 7-8 knots in an 18 knot breeze. With the very manageable
bermudan sloop rig she tacks effortlessly and very quickly picks up speed again,
making to windward very efficiently. Down wind she is an absolute dream;
spinnaker flying has never been so easy; and all this at only 10 degrees of heel.
Under the power of her two 18 hp saildrive Yanmar diesels, she cuts through
the water at 6 knots on one engine at only 2,000 rpm. Using two engines whilst
pushing into a seaway maintains this very good cruising speed which can be
increased up to 7 ½ knots when required. With the two engines mounted over 9
feet apart, manoeuvering has never been so simple, and open access to the engine
lockers provides for clean and easy maintenance. The engine services are carefully
monitored by a comprehensive range of engine instrumentation, which is
complemented by the Brookes and Gatehouse Hornet 4 sailing instruments. The
very best of British craftsmanship.
This same attention to detail and high specification is continued elsewhere
above decks, with a standard inventory including all the paraphernalia of warps,
fenders, anchor (and an anchor winch), boat hook, compass, echo sounder and
even a boarding ladder. Everything has been thought out with a fine attention to
detail that has exemplified the Catalac family image over the last 25 years in the
boating industry.
The enormous deckspace is almost clutter-free, leaving plenty of space for
sunbathing whilst under way; and the hatches to the mass of sail and storage
lockers are all neatly flush with the deck, ensuring a safe passage round the deck
for sailors, sunbathers and even over-excited children!
SING CATAMARAN
Below decks, the living accommodation has been planned to improve the layouts of the other Catalac
models, already so well appreciated.
Forward are two cabins, one with a large double berth 6'4" * 4'3", ample hanging and stowage
lockers and a vanity unit with handbasin. The second is laid out with twin berths each 6'4" long and
copious locker space. If preferred, this cabin can be a mirrored image of the double cabin to starboard.
A single cabin in the starboard quarter has a berth 6'3" long and hanging and stowage lockers.
The main saloon will seat seven in comfort and the well-equipped galley has a hob with 3 burners,
oven (with grill), refrigerator and hot & cold pressurised water, sufficient to prepare satisfying meals
and also ample locker space to stow the essential pots, pans and crockery as well as the food to be
prepared.
The Head compartment has a Baby Blake toilet, handbasin and shower with pressurised hot & cold
water.
Again, it is envisaged that a second Head compartment could be built-in to replace the single berth
cabin, in an alternative layout.
Yet a third amendment to the basic layout would be a conversion of the saloon for a further double
berth.
With these alternatives offered, the 10m Catalac can be built to your personal choice whilst still
maintaining the advantages of a production line Catalac.
