Access Control System
Access Control System refers to the practice of restricting entrance to a property, a building, or a room to
authorized persons, to protect lives, properties, and information. Physical Access Control Systems can be classified into two types; Standalone systems that use standalone controller and Central systems comprised of readers and a control panel.

Standalone System One Door
A standalone controller is a controller with built-in reader. It can control the opening/closing of the doors without any connection to a control panel. This can be operated on network and are usually applied to small size system.

Central System
Readers transmit information to a control panel and this control panel controls the opening/closing of the doors and other items. This is
comprised of readers, a control panel, standalone controller. Both can operate using RS-485/433/232C and over a network and are usually
applied in large size system.
Access Control Product
The reader is the main device installed in the entrance and read the information of who pass the door. Readers
can be categorized depending on the 'credential' it can read. The credentials can be cards, fingerprint, face, and
password key pad. Mostly, readers in higher categories can read the credentials in lower categories'.

Biometric Standalone Controller
Biometric standalone controller can read a part of a person who passes. This can read fingerprint, face, iris, etc.

Face Recognition
Facial recognition standalone controllers have a built-in camera and
can read a face of person. It checks a face of the person who is trying
to accesses with its database of faces that were registered before
and decide whether to allow or disallow the access

Fingerprint standalone controllers has a fingerprint sensor that can
read fingerprints of a person who accesses, when he/her touches
the pad. Users should register the fingerprints of who are allowed to

Smart Card is an electronic card with embedded integrated circuits which can process a mass of data.
This is widely used in banking, with credit cards and transportation card.
Usually it refers to the card that using 13.56MHz of frequency.
Proximity Card

Proximity card is a generic name for contactless integrated circuit devices used for security access or
payment systems. Usually it refers to the card that using 125KHz of frequency.

Key Tag
Key tag in access control system refers to the tag that is shaped like a key, used to gain an access approval

Access Control Panels
Access control panels are installed for entrance/exit doors. They receive information from the readers
and control the open/close functions and setting of doors.
The communication with readers can be done via wiegand protocol.

Fingerprint Scanner
Fingerprint Scanner is a device used to register the fingerprints of approved persons.
It can be easily connected to computer using USB.
Access Control System Technical Terms

13.56MHz
One of frequency bands which has high compatibility to Smart Cards. This performs well in data transmission but features higher price than
125KHz products.

125KHz
125KHz is a more widely used frequency band than 13.56MHz in access control systems, with a read range of less than 10cm (4 inch).
�
MIFARE
A type of protocol used in access control system.
It divides 1kbyte of memory into 16 sectors and performs various functions. 13.56MHz mainly uses MIFARE protocol.

AWG (American Wire Gauge)
AWG is a standardized wire gauge system used in the United States and other areas. In access control system, cables between AWG 18 to
AWG 24 are widely used.

SAMS (Samsung Access Management Software) Pro program carries key features of
SAMS Basic (SSA-M1000). This upgraded version of SAMS Basic can control DVR and
CCTV camera setting which make it easier to manage integrated security system. Users
can see what is happening in an interested area while managing the access.
SAMS (Samsung Access Management Software) Pro Lite is the client software and do
not provide server function. SAMS Pro Lite should be used along with server software,

monitor all access events and video
which is related those events. All status of doors, input/output and cameras
are also monitored in user defined
graphic map.

SAMS Pro supports video integration with access control event. For integrated solution, user can select DVR and Camera which is mapped with specific
access control reader.
Management for Card Holder and Multiple ID
User can store various information of
card holders. Administrator may
issue multiple ID card including a
vehicle card for single card holder.
Time Schedule Management
Various Type of Reports
Using Time Schedule Management, 24 hours may be divided into 5 different
zones to manage access control of each doors, input, and output. Zones may
applied differently for days, weeks up to 10 ~ 15 different Time Schedules
depending on the access controller.
Various colors and clock makes it easy and simple to set.
User Definition Integrated Monitoring
SAMS pro supports various reports such as Card holder Information report,
Card holder alarm status report, access status report, Report of card holder’s
authority for each of the door and Card holder. Conversion or transmission
function is available for all the search/output function. User may export the
data in excel or text form. In such case, it can be useful to integrate with other
software such as Time & Attendance, Payment, and ERP. Also report itself
may be exported as Excel or TEXT, PDF, RTF, XLS, HTML, and TIF files .
