The SCEF Spring Gala helps raise money to support critical programs and create better educational opportunities for our children. These funds make a lasting impact, not only on the students in our community today, but for every future student. Each
year, through our combined efforts, we strive to raise the bar. This year we are seeking to raise $500,000 at the Gala, which is
key to achieving our annual goal of $2.4 million.
We are especially grateful to our donors who have supplied fabulous auction items and to our sponsors who help us produce
this event. A special thank you to the school PTAs and PRT, principals, teachers, administration and many volunteers who help
make this evening such a huge success.
Thank you again for generously supporting SCEF and joining us as we raise funds to support every child, every day, in every
classroom.
Sincerely,
Roberta Marks and Amy Truel, Spring Gala Co-Chairs
and the SCEF Spring Gala Executive Committee

Arrivederci! You’re off to Italy for a 7-night stay in one of Tuscany’s iconic medieval hill towns, Cortona.
Ideally situated two hours north of Rome and 90 minutes south of Florence, Cortona is the perfect location for a Tuscan experience. Your home for the week will be the idyllic, “Casa Sogni”, a quintessential
blend of Tuscany’s classic architecture paired with modern conveniences. A beautiful enclosed garden
with 200 year-old olive trees gives way to panoramic views of the city and the entire valley, Cortona’s
hillside and the spectacular Lake Trasimeno. Live like a local as you take your 10-minute daily walk
into town. Round out your holiday with optional concierge-arranged cooking classes or wine tours and
decide over a glass of Brunello whether you’ll return to San Carlos! Ciao!

How to Bid on Silent Auction Items
Mobile bidding on our Silent Auction items begins at 7pm and runs continuously until it closes at 10:30p.m. There are no paper bid sheets!
Here’s how mobile bidding works:
Setup is Easy!
1. Bring your fully-charged Internet-enabled phone to the Gala.
2. Once you arrive at the hotel, log in to the Wi-Fi network using the network name and password on the back of your program.
3. Upon check-in at the event, you will receive a text message with your personal link to our Spring Gala mobile bidding site. Simply click this
link to start bidding! There is no app to download.
TIP: If you don't receive a text, please stop by the Help Desk Table for technical assistance or ask any of our roaming Mobile Bidding Assistants
(wearing glittery top hats). If you don’t have a smart phone, see one of our mobile bidding assistants and they will help you place bids using a
tablet.
4. Once you click on your link, you’ll be asked to confirm your name on the bidding website before placing your first bid. Please do not share
your link with anyone else.
Find an Item to Bid On
There are two ways to find items:
Search: Search for a specific item by entering a keyword or item number.
List View: View a list of auction item categories. Select any category to see a list of items within that category.
Start Bidding!
To bid, click on the item image. On the following screen, click "Quick Bid", "Bid" or “Watch”.
Quick Bid places a bid in the next available bid amount.
Bid allows you to select from various bid amounts. You can enter a bid amount that is higher than the next
available increment, and the system will continue to bid for you until your max bid amount is reached.
Watch will place the item in your "My List" area on the Home page for easy reference.
If you are outbid, you will receive a text asking whether you’d like to bid again. You can bid as many times as you’d like on a single
item. For all biddable items, the guest with the highest bid at closing time wins!
Made a mistake? The mobile bidding interface does not allow bidders to remove bids. Please see one of our mobile bidding volunteers for assistance.
Party! Party! Party!
To purchase a spot at one of our fabulous parties, navigate to the party and click on the "Buy" icon. Select the number of tickets you
want to purchase and complete the sale. Parties are not biddable items. Once you purchase your spot, you’re all set! No further
action is required.
Tip: Want to know who else is going to that fabulous party? After clicking on the item image, scroll down and click on the arrow next
to "Package History." A list of guest names will display.
Fund-A-Need
To donate to Fund-a-Need, click on the Fund-A-Need button on the Home page. You will see the FAN wish list logo, along with a list of
donation options including "custom amount.” Enter your desired amount and complete your donation. And, thank you!

Fund-A-Need
This year, each school was asked to develop a wish list for our Fund-A-Need campaign. The
larger the Fund-A-Need pot grows, the more wishes will be fulfilled. Donate to Fund-A-Need
and help make these wishes come true.
San Carlos Education Foundation
The San Carlos Education Foundation (SCEF) is a nonprofit fundraising organization that helps the San Carlos School District provide a
well-rounded public education for all students. We work in partnership
with parents and the community to support core and innovative programs that are vital to an exceptional education.
Your donations to SCEF benefit every child, every day in every classroom. We are grateful to our volunteers, community members, teachers, staff, administration and PTAs who support the programs we fund
and help raise the bar for our schools.
Last year we granted over $2.4 million to the San Carlos School District
and San Carlos Charter Learning Center to fund smaller class sizes (K-3),
school libraries/literacy programs, counselors, technology, performing
arts (including band, chorus, orchestra), middle school electives, science
materials and so much more.
Thank you for joining us tonight as we join together to celebrate and
raise funds to continue to help our public schools.

The Fine Print: If you bid over the fair-market price of
an item, the excess payment may be tax-deductible.
Consult your tax advisor for details. Please pay special
attention to all conditions, restrictions and expiration
dates on items and services. In general, all services,
tickets, gift certificates, etc, must be used within one
year of the auction and take place at a mutually agreeable time between donor and purchaser, except where
noted. Restaurant gift certificates do not include tax,
tips, wine or any alcoholic beverages.
All articles are sold “AS IS.” SCEF makes no independent investigation of the value or quality of any of the
goods or services offered, and is not responsible or
liable for the correct descriptions or authenticity of any
item. Please read the item descriptions and restrictions
carefully. All sales are final. If you have a problem with
an item that you’ve won, contact Christopher Kashap at
gala@scefkids.org.
As an IRS-certified charitable organization, SCEF relies
on community donations of goods and services for the
Spring Gala auction. Those goods and services come
from the donors, and not from SCEF. If you are the winning bidder on any auction item, you assume all of the
risk associated with the good or service auctioned. In
addition, because SCEF is not the provider of any goods
or services auctioned at Spring Gala, you agree not to
sue SCEF, or to try to hold SCEF in any way responsible,
for any consequences of your winning bid, whether related to the good or service or the provider of the good
or service. SCEF could not afford to continue to fund our
schools without this agreement from you. Thank you.
