Clip-on Combs
Scissor Care
Proper maintenance is important for your scissors. A little bit
of care now will save you money in the future.
1 Don’t drop them!
2. Do not use hair cutting shears for anything else besides
hair cutting. Materials like paper and plastic etc. will quickly
damage the cutting edge, forcing them to need sharpening
sooner.
3. Oil the pivot screw area regularly with a light weight oil.
4. Always store scissors in a safe, dry place between uses.

Worn parts on your clipper can result
in poor blade cutting performance. If
you know that your blades are sharp or
should be sharp but they’re not cutting,
it could be because of a worn clipper.
Check for worn clipper parts.

- hook broken off latch
- worn sides of hinge causing blades to
rattle
- while clipper is off, check for excessive
play in the lever which can indicate worn
or broken parts inside the gear box.
- Andis drive levers, in particular, should
be changed every 3 or 4 months even if
they don`t look worn.

Blade Care
1. Make sure the blades are oiled regularly (ie. before each use). This lubrication is
essential both to prevent overheating as well as to prevent excessive wear of both
blades and clipper. Blades should be oiled in the places shown. Kool Lube will do
the job if you are busy but nothing beats oil.
2. Make sure the animal being clipped is clean. Dirt will quickly reduce the cutting
life of blades.
3. When storing blades make sure they are oiled and wrapped and in a dry place
4. Don’t forget to clean your blades in blade-wash because keeping them free of
hair and dirt will make them cut longer.
