WINDJAMMER CRUISES

Tradition ahead:
all clear for setting sail.
The morning mist shrouds the horizon in mystery, blurring the boundaries
between the sky and the sea. The sun sends sparkling reflections dancing
across the water. But what is that thing glittering down there? Shimmering
fish scales? Or a mermaid who has fallen asleep in the net below
the jib boom?
On a Windjammer your imagination is easily drawn to the net, which is
spun from sailor‘s yarn. This too is a part of the tradition, like the warmly
gleaming teak, like the ropes, like every manual operation, every command,
and every step taken on the ropes. Real seamanship calls for perfection
and discipline – but for passion above all. From the captain right down to
the youngest member of the crew, the team‘s enthusiasm is catching.
The small community of guests on board comes to be joined with them
in spirit, admiring their demonstration of skill – when they climb the
rigging heavenwards, when they pull or lash cables or when the heavy
sailcloth fall from the yard. Every sea mile you travel takes you out into
the world, and takes you back to a time where only the wind rules. And
every sailing maneuver increases the sense that you are one with nature
and the elements.

T
The ideal manoeuvre:
heaving to a new day.
Yesterday it was a small harbour; tomorrow it will be a discreet anchorage.
Today the Windjammer itself offers all the scope you could need for new
discoveries. The quiet deck has a cheerful and friendly atmosphere. It‘s
not difficult to find a place for dreaming, and a table for stimulating
discussion is easily discovered. The bridge is open, the library is not far
away; the lido deck is ready to cater for parties of any size, and there are
plenty of deck chairs for sun-worshippers.
It may take you days to become fully acquainted with the front of the ship,
the bridge and all the attractive corners on deck. This is because every
spot changes with the wind and weather: each time you walk around you
will see something new, as the loving details seem to delight in revealing
themselves bit by bit. The attentiveness of the crew transforms your high
expectations and ambitious requirements into wishes that can easily be
fulfilled. With a warm smile and service that is full of cordiality, perfection
will be devoted to making you feel good. In this private atmosphere it is
easy to go with your own mood, to feel liberated and to enjoy every minute
you spend at sea – on board the SEA CLOUD and the SEA CLOUD II.

All senses on deck:
setting a course for the stars.
Muted laughter wafts down from the lido deck. Glasses clink at the bar. The
sun takes its fiery farewell, and leaves to the moon a silvery shimmering
canopy of stars. The magic of a Windjammer night begins.
Stars and sea travel go together. Once the stars showed ships the way to go
through the night. They translate romantic spirits into distant spheres, and
today they have come to designate a different kind of position specification:
they provide a standard of class and style. So in the nature of things it is
no surprise that the five stars of our ships should shine with particular
brilliance in the evening. Every course is a skilful temptation to the palate,
the sommelier pours out noble liquors and the service reaches a pitch of
formal perfection. You have free choice of a table, enabling you to enjoy indepth conversations or forge new contacts. Our kitchen team specialises in
refined combinations. Fresh, fine and light, and with plenty of variety, the
kitchen service continues right through every day and into the night – with
light barbecues on deck, the select four-course restaurant menu and the
festive Captain’s Dinner.
If you like, you can round up the evening with a glass of champagne at the
ship‘s rail, with a moonlight stroll along the deck or a cocktail in the lido
bar. After all, those culinary five-star moments find their best conclusion
under the stars of heaven.

High up on the scale of dreams:
the elegance of SEA CLOUD II.
The tangled lashings start to move. It‘s time to set the sails. Connoisseurs
understand the order of proceedings. Anyone else will just see it as a fabulous
piece of theatre – designed to carry you away into a world full of adventure,
and to a time when the seas first began to be discovered.
On the deck of SEA CLOUD II you will find multiple contrasts in combination:
hierarchies of yesteryear with the friendly comradeship of the crew,
sailing traditions along with the most up-to-date technology, present-day
expectations with a romantic atmosphere, room for privacy together with
social encounter. The decks turn out to give you a surprising amount of
space. Even after days on board, you can still discover a new favourite
spot. In the lounge, the library, the bar and the restaurant, you will be
impressed by the stylish ambiance and the overwhelming views of the sea
at all times of day. And when you wish to retire to your personal domain on
board, you have your own generous cabin provided – an elegant Kingdom
by day or by night.
In short, SEA CLOUD II has elegance and a transforming power that convince.
Cruise travellers used to their comforts become sailing aficionados; sailing
enthusiasts become epicures on extended trips. And as the crew is always on
hand, you only have to express a wish and perfection will be served up as if
by magic.

I
In the lee side of time:
the legendary SEA CLOUD.
Marble fireplaces with applications in bronze and brass, masts below deck
disguised as pillars, golden water taps, prestigious mahogany benches
that might have come from a nostalgic resort promenade – wherever you
go, SEA CLOUD gives evidence of the extravagant taste of its first owners
and of a time that became history long ago. But it goes without saying that
the incomparable atmosphere of the legendary private yacht is more than
just the sum of all its authentic details going back to the year 1931.
The eccentric preferences of the yacht‘s builders, the millionaire couple
Marjorie Merriweather Post and Edward Francis Hutton, form a stylish
backdrop that ennobles any voyage you make. Against the glory of a past
era, the relaxed feeling you get on board becomes even more exclusive.
The etiquette of yesteryear has given way to an easygoing togetherness.
The friendly attentiveness of the crew makes the luxurious lifestyle seem
modern and unconstrained. SEA CLOUD is young and yet has remained
true to itself.
For close on 80 years now, the proud four-master has been gliding out of
time and outgoing all superlatives. Sailing enthusiasts and romantics alike
have found her captivating. Once she made two people happy – now as
many as sixty-four guests can have the same treatment.

Caribbean coastlines and
an archipelago of dreams.
The bay seems to embrace the sea, and its reception committee of green
palms bows their heads in the most graceful way imaginable. The spotlessly
white beach dazzles the eye, and all the coloured fishing boats are being
gently rocked into a noonday sleep by the lapping water. Did Columbus
see something like this when he made landfall in the Caribbean?
Columbus, colonial rulers and the thunder of cannon – they have all
gone the way of history. Spanish grandeur has perpetuated itself in the
architecture of Cuba, French and British elements have mingled in the
Lesser Antilles, and in Belize and Mexico the heritage of the Maya has
been rescued from the jungle and from oblivion. What remains? People of
many different origins are typical of the Caribbean scene today – relaxed
and high-spirited for the most part.
Nature too has been delighted to make its contribution. Dominica, St. Lucia,
the British Virgin Islands and the Grenadines owe their magic to the
volcanoes. Many beaches, like the Tobago Cays, Anguilla and the famous
reef off Roatan, would not exist if it were not for the coral. SEA CLOUD
and SEA CLOUD II love to spread their sails along all these delightful
coasts. If Columbus were still with us today, he might well write in his log
book once again: “The most beautiful sight ever seen by man.”

Summer, sun
and white sails.
Beautiful beaches with pure white sand and
a soft velvety breeze – for anyone longing to
turn their back on winter this cruise offers an
attractive perspective: summer ahead. Green
palm trees sway seductively in the wind. Ten
island gems, perfectly cut by nature and mounted
in a wonderful sailing route, display their top
notch beauty. Every island is a unique solitaire.
Every coastline has its own character and its
own personal charm. National parks will take
you back to nature; elegant harbours invite you
to stroll and the Caribbean itself will dazzle you
with its brilliant colours.

An azure sky, an emerald green sea, a deckchair in the
shade and short trips to the railing – there can hardly
be a more relaxed way to arrive.
Cabrits/Dominica
Sun., 3rd day
Drop anchor: 07.00 hours. Between 1770 and 1845 the
volcanic peninsula around Cabrits was an important
strategic location, with a large fortress guarding the
coastline. Later Nature reconquered its former territory. The area is now a tropical green paradise called
Cabrits National Park*. Today Fort Stanley is reminiscent of a picturesque set in an adventure film playing
in the jungle.
Lift anchor: 17.30 hours
Îles des Saintes/Guadeloupe
Drop anchor: 21.00 hours. The SEA CLOUD II will be mooring in a sheltered bay on the main island. This small
group of islands was named by its discoverer, Columbus, who arrived here on All Saints Day and christened
the islands Los Santos.
Îles des Saintes/Guadeloupe
Mon., 4th day
The morning offers the opportunity to discover the
small island of Terre-de-Haut independently. Fort Napoleon is perched above the bay and the small town of
Grand Bourg. Iguanas sun themselves on the walls of
the old fortress and the museum documents the skirmishes between the British and French in days gone
by. Alternatively take the road to an attractive island
beach: Plage de Pompierre. Lift anchor: 13.30 hours

Falmouth Harbour/Antigua
Tue., 5th day
Drop anchor: 13.30 hours. Our shore excursion will

admiral had his fleet of ships made seaworthy are today an exclusive marina; open-air museum and small
shops in the converted workshops.
Lift anchor: 18.00 hours
Road Bay/Anguilla
Wed., 6th day
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. Anguilla is a Caribbean
exception: originated from a coral reef even though
there is no volcano anywhere in sight. There are,
however, over 30 beautiful beaches dotted around the
island and a particularly laid-back atmosphere, making
it possible for visitors to make their own discoveries at
their own pace.

to the small town of Basseterre. The historic fortress
provides a spectacular panoramic view of the islands
around St. Kitts.

Sir Francis Drake Channel
Thu., 7th day
The SEA CLOUD II will cruise through the famous channel, named after the British buccaneer.
White Bay/Jost van Dyke
Drop anchor: 13.30 hours. The name already gives
away the bay’s attraction: a wonderful snow white
beach, perfect for a day at the beach.
Lift anchor: 24.00 hours
Soufrière/St. Lucia
Tue., 12th day
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. Soufrière is sleepy in the
best sense of the word and is picturesquely framed
by the backdrop of the Pitons, the famous twin volcanoes. Our shore excursion* will take us to the volcanic
sulphur springs and the botanical gardens.
Lift anchor: 13.30 hours
Spanish Town/Virgin Gorda
Fri., 8th day
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. While the SEA CLOUD II
cruises to the island’s main town we will be beginning
our shore excursion in the “The Bath” national park*.
This is a very special stretch of coastline. Granite cliffs,
eroded into bizarre shapes over the course of time,
form a natural labyrinth both above and below water.
Lift anchor: 10.00 hours
North Sound/Virgin Gorda
Drop anchor: 11.30 hours. Re-embarkation following
the shore excursion.
Lift anchor: 15.00 hours
Gustavia/St. Barthélemy
Sat., 9th day
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. While St. Barthélmy, usually
just called St. Barth, may have been discovered by Columbus it was the French who colonized it, 150 years
later. St. Barth may well be the Caribbean’s most elegant island. Anyone looking for exclusive remoteness
will find undisturbed peace and time to stroll here. The
island has some twenty beaches and attractive landscapes to offer visitors. Gustavia’s exquisite restaurants,
bars and chic boutiques, located in beautifully restored
old warehouses, are an additional attraction.
Lift anchor: 24.00 hours

Mon., 11th day
The crew will be climbing up into the shrouds. The
SEA CLOUD II will unfurl its sails and glide towards
another island beauty under the power of the wind.
Port Elizabeth/Bequia
Wed., 13th day
Drop anchor: 13.00. Bequia, while the largest of the
Grenadine islands, is still only 18 square kilometres in
size. The colourful main town, Port Elizabeth, can be
discovered quickly. On our island walk we will be visiting a turtle farm* on the other side of the island or

Tee off the
Caribbean way.
Once a year, Sea Cloud II makes a golfing cruise
in the Caribbean. This has already become a
delightful tradition, combining exceptionally
interesting golf courses, many famous islands
of your dreams and nostalgic Windjammer
romanticism – all adding up to a unique voyage.
Four well-maintained and exciting holes stand
out against a background of palm-fringed
coasts, or extend gently through an extinct
volcanic landscape. And you will have plenty of
opportunities of relaxing as you sail the seas, or
of talking to our golf pro about techniques and
trophies. The pro will be with you for the entire
trip, both on the golf course and on board. On
golf-free days you can bask in your successes on
land, or go swimming in the sea on Bequia or the
Îles des Saintes. You can also find out something
about the colonial past at the Fort Napoleon. And
St. Barthélemy has elegant, up-market shops that
are just waiting to be discovered.
Your golfing package includes the following:
• Green fees for all 4 golf courses listed here
• All transfers
• Services of golf pro throughout the trip
• Golf carts (if available)
• 4 competitive games
• Day valuations and overall valuations with prices
• Lunch boxes

Anyone who enjoys spending the Christmas
season under green palm trees can look forward to
a sensual-contemplative get-away that combines
all that is best about the Caribbean: six

And ever changing new coastlines and interesting

The festive spirit
on a legendary course.
The skies promise nothing but enjoyment;
thoughts run into one another like the endless
blue shades of the sea and Caribbean joie-devivre and a shot of adventurous romanticism
will spice up your mood. The eagle on our
prow is taking a course which galleons once
followed. Majestic sails will take us to islands
which were only the secret hideaways of pirates.
And we will be dropping anchor wherever there
is a piece of Caribbean happiness to be found
on shore.
The SEA CLOUD offers enchantment not just on
its route across the seas but also into the New

wonderfully long weeks!

S
Staying close to the pulse of life,
with Mediterranean enjoyment.
Church bells ring to herald the evening. The steps of the cathedral become
a stone amphitheatre. Every café, tavern and osteria is as full as a theatre
that has been sold out. On the stage of everyday living, spectators and
actors are as one. And the play that is being acted out is so appealing, that
you won‘t mind repeating it day after day. The title is: “Enjoy Life”.
Mediterranean culture requests your company – on Crete or Mykonos,
in Dubrovnik or Sorrento. Even the historical monuments seem to have
lost their distance in time – their vanished present draws you in. The
pride of Venice, Siena and San Gimignano – they are still capable of
weaving their spell, and the power of faith comes home to you in churches
and chapels. Even fear of the conqueror, such as was felt at Bonifacio
in Corsica and in many coastal regions of the Adriatic, gives way to a
romantic enlightenment: behind high walls you feel sufficiently sheltered.
And Pompeii, which owes its fame to a tragic natural catastrophe, invites
you right into the heart of the Roman Empire.
But any cruise under sail takes you into the most beautiful natural scenery
of the Mediterranean – with islands, coasts and landscapes that have been
shaped by volcanic fire and weathered by the wind, that are washed by the
sea and drenched in sunshine.

Fri., 17th Apr.
2,400 square metres of sail are at the ready: for the
wind which wants to fill the canvas with life. The first
setting of the sails on the high seas gives rise to a
time-honoured tradition on board. Everyone gathers
on deck and listens to the officers’ explanations of
this drama in several acts. When the crew climb up
into the rigging and balance across the ropes to their
positions high up in the sky it is not uncommon for
the spectators down below to hold their breath. The
crew’s practised hands will unfurl the heavy sails,
which unroll with a loud noise – until they catch the
wind. A gentle shudder will run through the ship: the
elements are in control now.
At Sea
Sat., 18th Apr.
The generous space on deck makes it easy to find
ever changing vantage points from which to follow
the crew’s work at close quarters. The time on deck

to receive your visit; the library has many interesting
books and you can give free rein to your thoughts
while listening to the quiet strains of the Steinway
grand piano in the lounge. The Bridge Deck and the
Lido Deck are perfect locations for sun worshippers
Lisbon/Portugal
Sun., 19th Apr.
Arrival: 14.00 hours. Even as we enter Portugal’s
capital, Lisbon, the spirit of a bygone age becomes

of the Tejo into the city’s harbour. You will be able
to discover the old town at a comfortable pace on
our city tour by historic tram* before discovering the
rest of the city independently. Magnificent avenues;
churches and cathedrals; numerous museums
and small shops await you. And you may perhaps
decide to round off your evening with a visit to a

Sun and sailing,

the Gulf Stream.
Sail away from November, land on islands
where it is always spring and prolong your
golfing season on world-famous greens: it‘s
enough to have any keen golfer beaming like
the sun! We take in four famous courses on
our route. They are all situated on coasts
washed by the Gulf Stream, and are among
the most beautiful golf courses in Europe.
Each one has its own special features and
characteristic charm. On three days at sea
you can spin out your game by telling sailor‘s
yarns, or subject it to intense analysis in
discussion with our golf pro. When you are
under sail, it is an ideal opportunity for the
mind and the emotions to calm down. So
you can concentrate on relaxing and look
forward to the next game. Then you just walk
off the gangway and straight onto the golf
course again ...
Your golfing package includes the following:

Europe‘s sunny coastlines and islands of
the eternal spring: Cádiz - Las Palmas
Lisbon
Your golf courses are:
Portimão
Jerez
Portimão: Golf Club Palmares
Your first game takes place on Tuesday, 10th November
on this unique 18-hole golf course. Against a backdrop of
spectacular and breathtaking scenery overlooking th Bay
of Lagos, Frank Pennink has designed an unforgettable
golf course. Five of the holes are placed on the sand dunes
with the fifth, a par-5 of 550 metres making the hole a real
challenge. At present there are no villas lining the fairways
so the feeling of openness as you play is very refreshing.
(PAR 71, maximum handicap 28).
Lisbon: Penha Longa Golf Club
On Thursday, 12th November, you will be playing on
this breathtakingly beautiful course. It is situated in
the middle of a nature reserve, and is surrounded by
mountains and sea. The design, by the famous architect
Robert Trent Jones II, takes full advantage of the
unevenness of the terrain, and you have wonderful
views of the glorious landscape at all times. The first and
last three holes are in a valley surrounded by pine trees
and granite cliffs; the other holes are situated on a hill.
Professional golfers rate this championship course as one
of the best in Europe. (PAR 72, maximum handicap 28).
Madeira: Clube de Golf Santo da Serra
On Sunday, 15th November, you can look forward to
playing on one of the most remarkable mountainous
golf courses in Europe, near Funchal on the island
of Madeira. It is situated at a height of 500 metres
above sea level, offers fantastic views over the sea,
and was designed by Jones. The delightful course is
laid out on extremely uneven ground, surrounded by
luxurious vegetation. Creating it was a challenge, and
the highlight of the course, hole 4 on the Machico
Course, is still the star turn. It has par 3 (181 metres),
and involves a shot to the green across a ravine that
is heavily overgrown with vegetation. Since 1993 this
course has been the venue of the Open Ilha da Madeira,
the opening tournament of the European golfing
season. (PAR 72, maximum handicap 36).

At Sea
Sat., 14th Nov.
Between setting the sails and reefing them again, a
whole day can easily go by. On deck you have the use of
the library, with its view of the front part of the ship, or
you can visit the lounge with its panoramic windows.
You can please yourself – either dream into the distance
at the ship‘s rail, visit the bridge, or just pass the time
comfortably by enjoying the sun in a deck chair.
Funchal/Madeira
Sun., 15th Nov.
Arrival: 9.00 hours. Madeira is a blossoming garden all
year round – which is why it is known, for good reason,
as the ‚island of the spring‘. Its charm lies in the natural
contrasts to be seen on our panoramic tour of the
western part of the island*: abrupt mountain ranges,
delightful valleys, and cloven rocky coasts and fruit
plantations.

the ‚islands of spring‘ – the Canaries.

Tue., 17th Nov.
Arrival: 9.00 hours. Las Canadas National Park*, the
goal of our overland excursion planned for today,
is situated at the foot of Mount Teide, Teneriffe‘s
famous volcano. Millions of years ago a volcano have
been active here which would make Teide look like a
molehill. Its imposing remains – consisting of petrified
lava, brightly coloured volcano ash and steep crater
walls – resemble a moon landscape.

Teneriffe: Buenavista Golf Course
The last game of the trip will take place on Tuesday,
17th November, on this course that was designed by
Ballersteros. It is situated in the northwest of the island,
bordered by the Teno Massif and the Atlantic Ocean. The
fairways make use of the natural features of the terrain,
and have regard to the authentic vegetation of this
climatic zone. The central waterscape, located between hole
9 and hole 18, involves a succession of linked waterfalls and
makes a spectacular sight. (PAR 72, maximum handicap 36).
Depending on local circumstances, there may be changes to the list of golf
courses given here.

The North is blossoming:
summer days and white nights.
A red sunset is followed by the morning sun. The twilight night is of short
duration. And a whole city is wide awake. It is June in St. Petersburg.
The magical light in the sky of Russia‘s famous ‚white nights‘ has the
effect of an iridescent opal. All the golden cupolas gleam as if they have
been silver-gilt. Once a tsar‘s dream of glory the city is still magical. For
Peter the Great, building this city meant an opening to the West, heralding
Russia‘s entry into the world of the European great powers. It was closed
to the West for almost a hundred years. Now it is accessible once more:
a glorious midsummer night‘s dream – even in the full light of day.
In the four Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and
Finland, and especially in their friendly capitals, the weeks around the
summer solstice are likewise the occasion of numerous festivals. The land
seems more open, the sea more expansive, and the sky higher. The North
blossoms, and is refreshingly festive.
In Bruges in Belgium, Tallinn in the Baltic and Visby in Sweden, you
can enjoy romantic insights into a period when trade first forged strong
links between the countries of Northern Europe. Where cogs once anchored
and Hanseatic counting houses stood, the Middle Ages come across as a
proud, wealthy, bourgeois and god-fearing era – with Gothic churches,
luxurious merchants‘ houses, stepped gables, towers, broad squares and
narrow alleys. Almost each cruise starts and finishes in Hamburg, the
greatest hanseatic city of all.

Fresh summer days
and white nights.
A silver glow illuminates the sky. The twilight
seems to have an inner light. Nighttime is mystical
and magical. It is the season of the summer
solstice, the annual Nordic natural spectacle. It
impresses realists; enchants romantic souls and
dominates the atmosphere of the entire cruise
– both at sea and on shore.
The SEA CLOUD II will cruise in the wake of the
old Hanseatic cog ships. To places which owe
their riches to the medieval trading league.
Church towers, town walls and magnificent
merchants’ houses still bear witness to the
importance of these towns in bygone days.
Modern Scandinavian capital cities; island
seascapes and fresh summer days at sea will
ensure relaxation is combined with ever changing
scenery. And nature has a grand finale in store
for us: the “white nights” in St. Petersburg.

At Sea
Wed., 17th Jun.
On our first day at sea the SEA CLOUD II will be unfurling its sails and letting the wind and sea take
control. Relaxation for both the senses and the soul.
Grimstad/Norway
Thu., 18th Jun.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. Our walking city tour
including a visit to the Ibsen Museum* will lead us
through this old fishing town, located on Norway’s
Sunshine Coast. It is surrounded by a picturesque island belt and was home to Henrik Ibsen.
Lift anchor: 13.00 hours
At Sea
Fri., 19th Jun.
The days are longer than the nights. The brilliant sunlight reveals the Nordic magic. Who knows, perhaps
fluffy clouds and seagulls will accompany our windjammer on her southerly course.
Copenhagen/Denmark
Sat., 20th Jun.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. Welcoming boulevards; elegant Nordic design; pretty gabled houses and water
wherever you look – we will be changing boats during our tour through Denmark’s attractive capital
city: for a trip along the numerous canals*.
Departure: 18.00 hours
At Sea
Sun., 21st Jun.
The SEA CLOUD II will chart a course across the wide
Baltic Sea following ancient routes. Your deckchair is
ready for boarding. The bridge awaits visitors. Sunbathing or a sauna – decide as the mood takes you.
Visby/Gotland
Mon., 22nd Jun.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. Our walk through Visby’s old
town* will take us into the heart of the golden age of
the Hanseatic League. This walled merchants’ town,
a UNESCO World Heritage site, still looks almost the
same as it did in its heyday in the Middle Ages.
Departure: 13.00 hours
Stockholm/Sweden
Tue., 23rd Jun.
Arrival: 07.00 hours. The royal capital is cosmopolitan, modern but aware of its traditions. Our tour of
the city* will show it from its best sides and include
a visit to its famous flagship, the Vasa. This magnificent ship, dating from the 17th century, owes its
preservation to the fact that it capsized on its maiden voyage.
Departure: 17.00 hours
The SEA CLOUD II will glide through the picturesque
island belt off Stockholm to reach the open sea.
A reception with caviar marks the beginning of
the high point of the evening: a private concert in
the theatre of the Yusupov Palace, exclusively for
SEA CLOUD II guests.
St. Petersburg/Russia
Individual departure.
Sun., 28th Jun.
Itinerary subject to change!

At Sea
Wed., 24th Jun.
Wide horizons and white sails invite you to dream;
life on board allows you to while away the hours:
you can do, or not do, whatever you chose.
Tallinn/Estonia
Thu., 25th Jun.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. On a walk through the old town*
Tallinn, called Reval during the Hanseatic era, will
demonstrate its former importance wherever we
turn: as a frontier post between the East and the
West and as an influential medieval trading centre.
Its historic heritage, under UNESCO protection, is still
hidden away behind the town’s high walls today.
Departure: 17.00 hours
Helsinki/Finland
Fri., 26th Jun.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. Helsinki’s Cathedral, which we will
be visiting during our city tour*, is a Protestant cathedral
located in the Finnish capital’s neo-classical heart.
The church’s architecture was inspired by St. Isaac’s
Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Departure: 13.00 hours
St. Petersburg/Russia
Sat., 27th Jun.
Arriving in this metropolis on the Neva is an unforgettable experience in its own right. Standing
at the railing of the SEA CLOUD II is, however, even
more romantic – and impressive.
Arrival: 12.00 hours. The mere mention of the city’s
name itself calls up associations: of a magnificence
arising from Czarist will; of lavish celebrations and
wild revolutions; of heart-felt prayers and suffering
artistic souls. Our city tour will reveal both its
modern face and its chequered historical past*,
including visits to St. Isaac’s Cathedral and the
Church of the Saviour on Blood.

White sails and the vast expanse
of the sea: crossing the Atlantic.
As the sun gets further and further away from Europe, the eagle on the bow
of our Windjammers becomes a majestic bird of passage. Its goal is the
Caribbean, and it follows the route taken in former times by generations
of discoverers, conquerors and adventurers. The trade wind takes charge,
directing the commands and manoeuvres. In more than 500 years, the work
on board has changed hardly at all.
Young men and women from all countries of the world are adept in handling
the running and standing rigging. They climb to dizzy heights, and every
step on the lashing, every grip on the ropes, must be just right. It is a
breathtaking performance when more than twenty white sails are hoisted
in the traditional way. It conjures up a time that you thought fallen into
oblivion, when majestic sailing ships conquered the oceans of the world.
But in those days it was just the wind that swelled the sails. Now you have
romantic atmosphere as well, which joins with the imagination on the
decks of SEA CLOUD and SEA CLOUD II to make your deck chair the navel
of the world, for many lazy days – an observation post where you can
watch the clouds and the waves. Freedom is coextensive with the horizon.
Thought disappears. You can relax into a long voyage. Sea mile by sea
mile, everyday life and the land recede.

Turn your back on the world you know for 16 wonderful days. Simply sail away; listen to the silence
and relax, discreetly pampered by an attentive crew.
Editors’ lectures will make for variety, the officers
on the bridge will be pleased to answer questions
and quiet corners and convivial groups await on all
the decks. Finally have time for a good book; for
new conversations and new thoughts. Because since time immemorial the wide expanses of the ocean
and the sky have been the best projection surface
for many people. Our journey to the islands of the
New World will be dictated by the winds. Just as in
the time of the first discoverers the SEA CLOUD II
will set a course under full sail for the West Indies.
The deckhands will climb up the masts; unfurl the
sails in the morning and strike them in the evening,
when the dusk makes for a romantic atmosphere.
And our windjammer will then glide through the
night: under many friendly stars.

A strong breath
of adventure.
The wind freshens. The sails are ready. The
elements take control. Between St. Barthélemy
and the Bermudas; en route for the Azores
and to Lisbon a strong breath of adventure
will blow over the decks. The majestic eagle
on the bow will fly across the wide expanses
of the Atlantic for 20 magnificent days. How
many knots can we expect the SEA CLOUD II
to make?
The first seafarers; the discoverers and the
conquerors of the New World once charted
the same course to return to their homes.
True sailing enthusiasts know that even now
every day can offer a new sea experience. Our
time at sea will be interrupted by visits to two
beautiful island groups: the sunny islands of the
Bermudas and the Azorean islands of Faial and
São Miguel. Welcome on board!

Mon., 29th Mar.
Individual arrival in Antigua. Embarkation on the

Departure: 22.00 hours
Gustavia/St. Barthélemy
Tue., 30th Mar.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. For some 100 years the
French island of St. Barthélemy was perhaps the most
peaceful place in the Caribbean. Because in a period
of colonial turbulence the island was Swedish from
1785 to 1877 – and thus neutral. The main town
was christened in honour of King Gustav III and its
architecture has a touch of the Nordic. Since the
Rockefellers discovered the island in the 20th century
it has become a particularly exclusive Caribbean
destination. Everything today is very select and
elegant. On an independent shore excursion you
will find it worth your while to explore the historic
warehouses around the harbour bay. Attractive cafés
and smart shops await you. Lift anchor: 13.30 hours
At Sea
Wed., 31st Mar. to Fri., 2nd Apr.
Our windjammer will cruise northwards for three days,
headed for the Bermudas.
The horizon is wide. The sails have been set. For sea
mile upon sea mile the SEA CLOUD II will follow the
classic maritime route from America to Europe; from
the Old World to the New World – for many people
one of the last sailing adventures of our time.
Hamilton/Bermuda
Sat., 3rd Apr.
Arrival: 13.00 hours. The Bermudas are a group of
islands which still belong to the overseas colonies of
the United Kingdom of Great Britain. And sometimes
life here seems to be almost more traditional and British
than in the motherland. The Bermudas are actually seven
larger islands connected by bridges and causeways.
On a tour around these islands* you will see British
stately homes and plantation houses – often framed
by accurately cut hedges; rugged coastlines and ever
changing views out to sea.
Departure: 18.00 hours
At Sea
Sun., 4th Apr. to Sun., 11th Apr.
Some 2.000 sea miles lie between the Bermudas and
the island archipelago of the Azores. Entertaining
lectures will provide you with new perspectives and
stimulate you to exchange thoughts. There is much to
be discovered between the library and the sun deck,
but it is sailing with all its facets which is at the centre
of this cruise.
Our tall ship will have time to prove herself. The crew
will be able to demonstrate their skills day after day.
This is a demanding course which allows true seamanship to come to the fore. Dead calm, wave troughs,
following winds – you’ll never be closer to life than
when sailing on this route. Nature gains strength.
Freedom, romanticism and adventure will become the
guiding trinity of this five star ship.
Horta/Faial/Azores
Mon., 12th Apr.
Arrival: 09.00 hours. The Gulf Stream will almost
automatically carry anyone coming from the Bermudas
to Faial. Horta is thus a popular meeting place for
sailing enthusiasts, in particular for friends of the
transatlantic crossing from west to east. The very
harbour walls offer a unique feature: many sailors
have immortalised themselves with a painting here
– a picture gallery dedicated to the god of wind and
seaman’s tales.
For some the Azores archipelago is submerged Atlantis. For geologists it is the nine peaks of an underwater
volcanic mountain range which extends some 8.000
metres below the surface. Our excursion* will take us to
a part of the island which was only formed in 1957: to
Capelinho. This caldera has a diameter of two kilometres;
the volcanic crater walls are 400 metres tall and Faial
became 2.4 square kilometres larger. Faial is also called
Illha Azul, the blue island: because blue hydrangeas
bloom nearly everywhere.
Departure: 14.00 hours
Ponta Delgada/São Miguel/Azores Tue., 13th Apr.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. São Miguel is the Azores’ largest
island; Ponta Delgada is its capital. In geological terms
this island is also still a baby: only some 10.000 years
young. On our tour of the island we will be seeing
the different faces of a volcanic region. Pineapple
plantations prove its fertility; rugged cliffs its danger;
the crater lakes, often surrounded by hot springs, its
spirited activity.
Departure: 13.30 hours
At Sea
Wed., 14th Apr. to Fri., 16th Apr.
The last sailing leg was also a home game for earlier
Portuguese seafarers. Laden with treasure or at least
rich in experience they sailed for Lisbon – under full
sail, just like the SEA CLOUD II. Our windjammer will
glide across the ocean for a further three days. The
horizon is softly blurred between the sea and the sky.
The air and the water seem become one, to flow into
one another like the hours. The golden eagle flies
towards its destination. The journey is, however, the
reward for everyone on board, and its social high point
is the crowning farewell dinner – when we will once
again be able to recapitulate and analyse the maritime
highlights together.

Navigating the currents:
RIVER CLOUD and RIVER CLOUD II.
The most attractive routes in the heart of Europe are the big rivers. They
combine views of the city and the countryside – taking you among pulsating
metropolises, quietly idyllic landscapes and major cultural monuments. But
on board RIVER CLOUD and RIVER CLOUD II, the picturesque waterway issues
in the feeling of an expanded world – seeing that our river yachts are closely
related to our big sailing ships. And they set high standards.
Their five stars live up to the highest expectations. Their planks are international
parquet flooring. And their exclusiveness is something you feel from the moment
of arrival. Perhaps it has to do with their maritime elegance, the personal
attentiveness of the crew, the fine wood surfaces on all decks, or simply their
generosity. The nostalgic atmosphere has a relaxing effect: on a yacht, you can
feel you have really distanced yourself from the rush of the world. Interesting
excursions and carefully selected theme cruises will inspire you – and following
the intensive experience, you can continue to engage with it in depth when you
are on board. And to make sure that your special cruise will pay tribute to all the
senses, the helpful spirits in the kitchen and cellar will expose you to the fine art
of seduction. Just take a look at what we have to offer:
