Copán Overnight
Chattering parrots, crashing waterfalls, and
impossibly green canyon walls meet you at
every bend. This half-day trip down the Rio
Cangrejal is by far the most popular river trip
in the country and can even be done affordably
in a single day with round trip flights from
Roatán. It includes all equipment, professional
guides, a tropical picnic, and one night double
accommodations in La Ceiba, 5 hour raft trip,
class II-IV rapids, and a picnic lunch.
For longer white water and river trips including
longer itineraries with naturalist guides and
overnight camping,
please call.
This 2 night Copán tour is by far our most
popular mainland extension. Besides the
incredible sculptures, stellae, and museums of
the Copán archaelogical park, you will have time
to relax and enjoy one of the prettiest villages in
Central America with its cobbled streets, open
market, craft shops and restaurants. And there
are plenty of nearby attractions: Macaw
Mountain Bird Park, horseback riding to Los
Sapos and Hacienda San Lucas. 2 nights is not
nearly enough, so plan to stay longer or come
back! Includes transfers from San Pedro Sula, 2
Nights Copán (or 1 night Copán, 1 night San
Pedro if your air schedule is tight) lunch, English
speaking guide, tours of ruins and museums.
Cuero y Saldo
Wildlife Refuge
After an early breakfast,
you’ll be transported to
the Cuero y Salado Wildlife
refuge where, if the old burra is running (a
locomotive relic from plantation days,) you’ll
chug across a lowland plantation toward the
river. Drifting downstream, you’ll observe
wildlife (monkeys, manatees, and exotic
birds such as the boat billed heron) enjoying
lunch enroute. There’s a stop and time for a
swim where the river empties into the salty
Caribbean, before the return trip and transfer
to your hotel for the evening. This is a fun
and interesting trip
for all ages.
