Peace of Mind Brochure - Social Services Knowledge Scotland
Who we are:
Peace of Mind is a collaborative project
between SPAEN and Respite Now with
funding from the Scottish Government’s
Self-Directed Support Capacity Building
Fund.
SPAEN is a charity registered in Scotland under Charity Number SC29930 and a Company Limited by Guarantee with no share capital, registered in Scotland under Company Number SC399411.
Respite Now is a Community Interest Company registered in Scotland under Company Number SC421677.
What we do:
The project will fill a “gap” in the existing self-directed
support services for clients with small hours of support (defined as 10 hours per week or less) or people
who wish to “pool” some of their SDS package to undertake group activities.
Peace of Mind will:
• Create and deliver a “small hours” hub to meet the
needs of supported persons;
• Match supported persons based on interests and
needs;
• Develop a bank of PA’s to work with small hours clients;
• Map out community based assets and promote the
creative use of SDS to achieve personal outcomes.
How we do it:
Peace of Mind will operate a Referrals & Matching system. Referrals can come from:
• Individuals with SDS packages who wish to use the
service;
• 3rd parties (such as carers; friends; family);
• Health & Social Care professionals;
People can register via a simple, web based registration system:
www.peaceofmind.scot
Peace of Mind will also work collaboratively with
Health & Social Care partners; JobCentre Plus; WEA
and Unison as well as local groups.
Additional
Services:
Peace of Mind will support individuals and PA’s
through:
• Exclusive “pooled” Public & Employer Indemnity Insurance through Fish Insurance Services;
• Assist with Training Needs Assessments of PA’s;
• Source accredited training including First Aid; Moving & Assistance and Administration of Medication*
• Assist with contracts of employment and risk assessments.
*Provided in conjunction with Boots the Chemist and accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for Scotland
Benefits:
Peace of Mind brings a range of benefits
to stakeholders:
• Building “natural networks” in the communities the supported person lives
and works in;
• Reducing the amount of paid support required to live independently and as an
active citizen;
• Maximising the use of community
based assets and achieving more with
SDS budgets.
