Pre-registration and supplying your own materials is required unless otherwise stated. Please note that full payment must be received at the time of registration. There are two easy ways to register: IN PERSON Come to the Trail Aquatic & Leisure Centre anytime during our operating hours and our staff will be happy to take your registration. MasterCard, Visa, Debit, cash and cheque (payable to the City of Trail) are all accepted. They must be within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian, 16 years of age or older, at all times. Ratio of children 6 years or under to parent or guardian must be no greater than 3 to 1. Children who are not yet toilet trained are required to wear either a pool diaper or cloth diaper and plastic pants. SHOE POLICY – Fitness Centre If you are coming to use the fitness facility at the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre, please ensure you have a clean, indoor pair of athletic shoes available to present to the cashier upon entry to the building.Your cooperation in helping to maintain a clean facility and improve the life span of the equipment is appreciated. MEMBERSHIP CARDS Everyone who has purchased any of our membership pass options to the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre has received a photo ID card. This ID card permits you entry into the facility. All participants who have a membership card are required to scan this card each time they utilize the facility. Please note that if you forget your card, regular admission rates will apply. TOURISTS With valid identification, anyone who lives outside of the Greater Trail Area is eligible for the TRP (Trail Resident Program) rates on drop-in admissions and 10x or 20x passes to the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre. Youth Weight Room Users Check out Toonie Times on page 2 All youth who are 13 & 14 years of age are required to attend a Teen Get Fit session and have a consent form signed by their parent in order to use the Fitness Centre. See Page 27 for details. Swimming LESSON REGISTRATION Participants are encouraged to register more than one week prior to the start date. Lessons will be cancelled where there is insufficient registration. We try our best to accommodate the demand for lessons and we will create more classes if the waiting lists are full. STARFISH (4 to 12 months) Orientation to water for babies and parents. The goals are to help babies experience buoyancy and movement through songs and play in the water. 2. DUCK (12 TO 24 MONTHS) Orientation to water for babies and parents. The goals are to help babies experience buoyancy and movement through songs and play in the water. 2. SEA TURTLE (24 TO 36 MONTHS) Swimmers learn, through fun games and songs, how to combine skills, how to kick with a buoyant object and how to perform basic floats, glides, and kick. ‘On My Own’ Ages 3 - 5 years UNPARENTED 4. SEA OTTER Swimmers enter this level when they are 3 years old. Using games and activities, swimmers learn to open their eyes under water and further develop basic floats and glides, and swim 1 meter. 5. SALAMANDER Once successfully completed Sea Otter, swimmers learn to swim 2 meters, further develop basic floats and increase their distance on front and back glide. Learn appropriate water safety skills. 6. SUNFISH Swimmers learn to swim 5 meters, increase their front and back glide with kick, develop their rollover glide. Safety skills include deep-water skills and use of a PFD. 7. CROCODILE Swimmers learn to swim 5 meters on their front and back, perform dolphin kick and begin using rhythmic breathing. Safety skills include jumping into deep-water and performing surface support for 10 seconds. 8. WHALE Swimmers perform a front and back swim for 10 meters. Safety skills include identifying safe swimming areas, jumping into deep water, swimming 5 meters, surface support for 20 seconds. With over 18 years of weight training experience, Diana specializes in women’s weight loss, muscle toning and overall fitness, for women of all fitness levels from teens to seniors. PENNY WALTON Certified Personal Trainer Penny has been in the fitness/sport/recreation industry for over twenty years, and though she is certified in many facets of fitness, strength is her ‘strength’! As of late, she has been teaching a lot of Core and personal training with cardio components, but is willing to challenge you! She works with youth, adults, and seniors, and can develop a program that suits you! ‘Slow & controlled, strong and lean.’ CPR / FIRST AID/AED certified. Lynn Kenneway Certified Personal Trainer Lynn has been involved in the fitness industry for the past 20 years and is certified in aerobics, step, aquafit, osteofit and strength training, and also as a personal trainer. She has developed and conducted classes such as adapted fitness and boot camps, and has a passion for health and wellness for all age groups. CPR / AED certified. JENNY PICTIN Certified Personal Trainer Jenny is a CFES National Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. Her passion is to motivate and inspire clients in their journey to fitness and health. If strength, weight loss, and toning are your goals, then Jenny will ensure you learn to use the weight room equipment safely and effectively. Her program design also includes how to engage deep abdominal stabilizing muscles (core) when performing specific low impact body weight exercises. She works with all age groups. Cindy Devine Registered Physiotherapist Cindy is a registered physiotherapist with 30 years of physiotherapy and conditioning experience. Presently she runs a daily full body conditioning program for injured workers trying to get back to work. She also sees private clients for individual exercise prescriptions. Cindy was a professional athlete with three mountain bike world championship medals, was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall Of Fame and is a Trail Home of Champion. With a minimum of three days notice prior to the start date of the program, a full refund will be processed. (Three day cancellation period is from Monday to Friday only, weekends are excluded.) OH NO! WE HAD TO CANCEL! The Trail Parks & Recreation Department may need to cancel a program if course enrollment is below the required minimum. Avoid disappointment and register early! 2. If a program registration is cancelled or if you transfer to another course between one and two days prior to the start of your program, a $10.00 administration fee will be charged. Please also note that if you are cancelling or transferring programs one day before the start of your program, Trail Parks and Recreation must be notified by 4:00 pm (Monday to Friday) the day before the program start date and the administration fee will still apply. TRAIL RESIDENT PROGRAM In order to receive the discounted TRP rates advertised throughout this brochure, participants are required to have a TRP card. All programs and services are open to everyone; however, without a TRP card full rates will apply. Permanent residents of Trail, Warfield and Beaver Valley can receive a TRP Card at no charge. Simply complete the required application and bring in two pieces of the noted documentation and cards will be issued. Non-residents can purchase a resident card if desired. Tourists, (people living outside of the GreaterTrail area), are eligible for the TRP rate on Drop-In admissions with valid identification. Please note, that when phoning in your registration, you will be asked for your TRP card number. Please have your card ready when you call. The program supports individuals and families whose household income falls within the “Low Income” level as set by Statistics Canada.
