YOUTH & ADULT SPORTS
Youth Basketball League
A fun recreational league where everyone gets to play! Separate divisions are offered for boys and girls in the following grade groups: 3rd4th, 5th-6th, and 7th-9th. We also offer a co-ed division for 10th-12th
graders. Registration deadline is Friday, December 16th. A $10.00 late
fee will apply after December 16th (if space is available). Registration
opens October 1st so sign up now!
*Volunteer Coaches are encouraged to contact the Recreation Department early
in the registration period.

KinderSports: Soccer
Do you have a 3-5 year old full of energy and ready to participate in
sports? If you do, then KinderSports is the program for your child.
In KinderSports toddlers learn team work, good sportsmanship, the
value of physical fitness, sports safety and the basic skills needed for
various sports. Classes are non-competitive and run in a friendly and
nurturing environment where parents, family, and friends are encouraged to cheer and support the children in the program. This season’s
sport focus will be on: INDOOR SOCCER.

Next KinderSports Session: Basketball
“Fit to Win” Basketball Camp
This basketball camp is for boys and girls in 3rd to 6th grades. Each
player will have the opportunity to “Achieve Basketball Excellence”
through a progression of skills focusing on the “triple threat” (shooting, passing and dribbling). Participants are required to bring a lunch
and a snack. Fee for this camp is just $10.00 if you also register for
our Youth Basketball League. What a great way to get ready for our
Youth Basketball League starting Jan 14, 2012. Space is limited, so
please register early.

Pee Wee Basketball is for children in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Registration for

Coed Adult “Futsal” Style Soccer League
Join us for this exciting opportunity to play in an adult futsal league this
Fall! Get together a team of 6-10 players or sign up individually. Space

“Kool Kicks” A futsal league for children
The exciting sport of futsal is a style of indoor soccer. “Kool Kicks”
is a futsal league for children to enhance their skills and apply them
to the game of futsal. Children ages 6-8 will learn fundamental soccer skills while learning the joy of the sport. Classes will include skill
clinics, sportsmanship drills and players will apply their skills to a futsal game during the second half of class. Indoor fun on rainy days!

Babysitting Certification Course
Join American Red Cross instructor Nancy Young for a
one-day Babysitting Certification Course for participants
11-16 years of age. Participants will learn valuable tools to
give them the confidence and knowledge to be exceptional
caregivers. Pre-registration is required. Please Register
early as the class may fill up.
Participants are asked to bring a lunch and a snack. Handbooks must be purchased from the instructor at the class.
All participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitting

can be arranged for your child. The McKinleyville
Parks & Recreation Department has made special arrangements with Santa at the North Pole. If you would
like your child(ren) to receive a letter from Santa, fill out the “Santa
Letters” form and mail it or drop it by the Parks & Recreation Department located at 1656 Sutter Road. Forms are available at our office

Puppy Training
Join experienced instructor Delilah Huck for a six week course designed to help new owners deal with and understand normal puppy
behaviors that can sometimes be overwhelming and frustrating for the
inexperienced puppy owner.
Learn the tools for solving problems such as digging, chewing, mouthing and more. Lessons will include teaching your dog to come, sit
down, stand, walk on loose lead, interact with people without jumping,
and go to your bed.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
Basic Dog Obedience
Join experienced instructor Delilah Huck for a six week course designed
to teach you how to become the leader in your relationship with your
dog and for your dog to view you as such. Once you have accomplished
this, your dog will begin to look to you for guidance. Our goal is to
teach your dog to listen and respond to you in all situations.
This class will cover heel on a leash, down stay, sit stay, come when
called, down in motion, keeping your dog’s attention around distractions and how to elicit play behavior from your dog.

This course will teach students a basic command of Mandarin Chinese.
There will be an emphasis on listening, conversation, speaking, mastery of
the “four tones” and Chinese culture. Presentation of basic grammar will

Rally Obedience Meets Tuesdays: 5:30pm-6:30pm
This course is designed for those who are, or are considering competing
in the fun sport of “Rally Obedience.” The instructor competes in Rally
Obedience at the Excellent level and has taught obedience, formal, and
“family,” for 14+ years. It’s a great way to have fun and sharpen your dog’s
skills in the obedience ring and beyond. Come check out a class and see

Dog Tricks class is a fun way for dogs and their handlers of all ages to
learn a variety of commands not usually covered in an obedience class.
Have fun with your dog and develop skills that will help your dog learn!
Skills like “rollover”, “high- five”, “sit up”, “crawl”, “bow” , and “get in a
box” are just some of the tricks covered in this class.
Agility Foundation Class February 28-April 10
Meets Tuesdays: 6:30pm-7:30pm
This course is designed to teach dogs and handlers foundation behaviors
needed to shine in the sport of agility. We work to develop and improve
skills such as cueing your dog to move with you, read your motion, clicker/
yes training, crate games, come with speed, nose touch circle work and tug.
We work on different surfaces and do tricks; All things important for agility!
