Fall 2015 SERVICE CREDIT UNION OPENS PEASE BRANCH Service Credit Union recently opened its 50th branch worldwide, 32nd in New Hampshire and 2nd on a stateside military installation. The branch is located at 153 Newmarket Street in Portsmouth, N.H. and is open to all military ID cardholders, active and retired. “Service Credit Union is honored to return to the place where it began more than 55 years ago. Service Credit Union was at the event to pass out summer-themed giveaways to both adults and children. Saturday, August 1, 2015 Motor Weekend Car Show- Spangdahlem This is the flagship event for the 52nd FSS/FSD on Spangdahlem Air Base. This event featured cars, trucks and motorcycles that competed in different categories. There was a live band, food and drinks. Service Credit Union was on-site to distribute free giveaways. Saturday, August 15, 2015 Fishing Derby- Grand Forks, ND Service Credit Union’s sponsorship helped to fund the event. Military members also had an opportunity to sign the Military Saves Pledge at the event. Service CreditUnion was also on hand with giveaways. Thursday, August 20, 2015 Diversity Day- Spangdahlem The third annual Diversity Day brought all of the different cultures in Spangdahlem together to celebrate and learn about each other’s history, heritage and traditions. The event had music, children’s activities and entertainment for the entire family. Service Credit Union was the exclusive sponsor of the event t-shirts. Saturday, August 22, 2015 C.A.R.E Fair- Stuttgart Panzer/Patch This event showcased all of the services available to the military community members. Service Credit Union was on-site to hand out giveaways and information. USO Sun and Fun Day- Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC) A children’s appreciation event before school began for the KMC area. Service Credit Union was the sole sponsor of the Service Credit Union Kiddie Train. The event had numerous activities for families and children. O U R Hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, chips, popcorn and cake were free to all the visitors at the event. Service Credit Union was at the event to distribute giveaways. Friday, September 11, 2015 C O M M U N I T Y Ninja Warrior Challenge- Grand Forks, ND This squadron competition combined a golf tournament with an obstacle course. Service Credit Union setup a table on-site with program collateral and giveaways. Ready & Resiliency Fair- KMCC Wednesday, September 23, 2015 Service Credit Union had a table at KMCC food court to showcase what Service Credit Union has to offer when it comes to resiliency-based services. Resiliencybased services are financial, medical or psychological services, which support resiliency with regards to behaviors, attitudes and problems that military families may face from time to time. College Night- Rhine Ordnance Barracks Air Force Ball- Grand Forks, ND Service Credit Union was a sponsor for the Grand Forks AFB annual Air Force Ball. All proceeds from the event went to support Grand Forks AFB Airmen and their families. Saturday, September 12, 2015 Air Force Ball- Spangdahlem Air Base Service Credit Union sponsored the 2015 Air Force Ball on Spangdahlem Air Base. This event fosters a healthy and formal atmosphere for Airmen to enjoy dining and socializing with their peers, colleagues and special guests while at the same time improving the U.S. Air Force. Service Credit Union sponsored every E1 – E4 Airmen’s Air Force Ball ticket. Thursday, September 17 - Sunday, September 20, 2015 Ramstein Welfare BazaarRamstein Air Base This is Ramstein Air Base’s largest event of the year, with attendance of over 20,000 people from the military community. The event featured over 140 vendors from throughout Europe, great food, and a public drawing. The Welfare Bazaar was hosted by the Ramstein Officers’ Spouses Club (ROSC), who uses the proceeds to give back to the community. Friday, September 18, 2015 Air Force 68th Birthday- KMCC, Ramstein Southside, Spangdahlem Air Base and O/S Contact Center Service Credit Union honored the Air Force’s 68th Birthday by offering cake and refreshments at Service Credit Union Air Force Base locations. Representatives from over 110 Universities, Colleges and Educational Organizations based out of the U.S. and Europe offered an opportunity for students to learn about different programs and options available to them after they graduate high school. Service Credit Union was on-site to distribute notebooks, shopping bags and materials pertaining to our Student Checking accounts. This event was hosted by USAG Kaiserslautern & MWR and Kaiserslautern High School. Friday, September 25, 2015 Family Glow Golf TournamentGrand Forks, ND Service Credit union was the sole sponsor for the family fun event which draws families to the golf club at sundown. Individuals and teams competed for prizes. Service Credit Union will be on-site to hand out family-friendly giveaways. Saturday, September 26, 2015 Fall into a Healthier You- Ansbach Service Credit Union teamed up with the Katterbach Fitness Center to sponsor the Fall into a Healthier You program. This health-based event will last 8 weeks and will encourage participants to attend classes for points, including fitness and nutrition for the entire 8 weeks. A large Service Credit Union banner was hung inside the gym beginning on the event kick-off and will remain for one year. Squadron Half-MarathonGrand Forks, ND This half-marathon event was a fundraiser where Service Credit Union hosted a table to hand out giveaways and account information. All proceeds from this event went towards helping a local airman with brain cancer. Service Credit Union President/CEO Gordon Simmons recently presented a monetary donation to Veterans Count on behalf of the credit union members who have the Veterans Program Affinity Credit Card. Veterans Count Seacoast Chairman Greg Whalen accepted the check for the organization. As part of Service Credit Union’s Veterans Program, 2% of the interest paid on the Affinity Credit Card is donated to the Veterans Count organization. Veterans Count provides critical and timely financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families.
