THE POSEIDON STORY
YOU DR. AND MRS. RECHNITZ
Poseidon Early College
High School is made possible through a generous
one-million dollar donation by Dr. Robert and
Mrs. Joan Rechnitz of
Red Bank. This is the
largest donation ever
made to Brookdale Community College. The
Rechnitz’s are the founders of Two Rivers Theater Company in Red Bank
and they also served extensively in the education
and public service arena.
Mrs. Rechnitz is a graduate of Monmouth University and has served as a
board member on several
committees including
“Friends of the Park” and
the Women’s Council for
the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical
Center. Dr. Rechnitz
worked as an English and
American Literature professor for over thirty
years at
Monmouth
University.
In addition to
Poseidon’s
donation, the
Rechnitz’s
contributions
have funded
many other
local organizations including the
creation of

A MESSAGE FROM
MS. TARA L. STEPHENSON
Dear Poseidon Families:
Our school year kickedoff with a fantastic start!
This year will be a busy
year for our students.
Not only will students be
working diligently in the
classroom, they are also
dedicating themselves
and exploring various
avenues outside of the
classroom. I encourage
all parents to stay informed of the happenings
at Poseidon and continue
to support and cheer on
your children! Our staff is
dedicated in providing a
first class education and I
am always here to assist
in anyway that I can! Our
students, staff , and community are enthusiastic
for the amazing things
this year will bring!

of Janet Zilinski, an 11year old who died of sudden cardiac arrest following a cheerleading squad
practice is a new law that
took effect on September

Mission Statement
Poseidon genuinely
engages first generation
college-bound students to
complete a rigorous
curriculum, supported by
technology, clearly
aligned to student interest
and state standards.
Coursework is provided
in a challenging and
supportive environment
with an applied learning
focus that provides
students a structure that
enables them to earn
their high school diploma
and to overlap those
efforts with those needed
to earn an associate's
degree, leading to a
bachelor’s degree.
