We were thrilled with the response to the new Classical Coffee Concert Series. The series brought a new dimension to our programming by including daytime classical music, and attracting a new audience to The ACT. I was also very happy that the Arts Club ON TOUR Series included a work by the Firehall Arts Centre and we were able to have both companies’ Artistic Directors come out for pre-show talks and reminisce about their respective anniversaries. We focused on local talent, as witnessed in our Christmas Ensemble exhibition, the Group of 9 show in January, and the return of the Garibaldi Art Club to the gallery for their exhibition, Seasons in the Park. In addition, we featured the work of leading Canadian tapestry artist, Barbara Heller. Her retrospective, Falling from Grace, was appreciated both the quality in its execution, and the strong messaging carried by her images of war and environmental devastation. We are pleased to have created an artist’s catalogue, which was published with funds provided by the Art Gallery Gift Shop Vancouver Foundation. The shop plays a strong role in raising funds for the Gallery and featuring select craft artists from across the region.
