Since 1930, we have been a haven for young people to experience the joys and freedom of summer, embrace camp values, make new friends and be supported by a talented and dedicated staff. Our priority is to give a sense of self-worth to every camper and staff member. We strive to give a sense of spirituality in the Catholic tradition while helping people of all different faiths along their own personal journey. We have created an inclusive environment where ALL children are welcome, regardless of gender, race, religion and socioeconomic status. We are looking for hard-working and enthusiastic people to join us this year. Working in a summer camp environment can be one of the best and most rewarding jobs of your life. You will become a part of our camp family and be surrounded by people who love the outdoors. We provide in-depth training and focus on developing skills that help our staff be successful. Working at Camp Cadicasu As a staff member at Camp Cadicasu, you are joining 80 years of camping excellence. Working at a summer camp is a 24 hour job which can be exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. The Camp Medic lives in the medical cabin in a private room with a bathroom. The medical cabin is also furnished with two single beds for sick campers. Staff members are free Saturday mornings after campers leave and are due back at camp Sunday afternoons to prepare for the following week. Job Reponsibilities Administer to all camper and staff medical needs. Review camper forms and inform counsellors, the cook and director of pertinent information. Collect and store all prescription and over the counter medicine provided by parents. Distribute prescription medications according to detailed instructions by parents. Secure and monitor ALL camper and staff medications and the medical cabin at all times. Prepare and supply emergency first-aid packs for out-trips. Keep the medical cabin clean, sanitized and tidy in a productive manner. Maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm no matter what the weather is like. Ensure that the medical cabin is stocked and ready to assist sick/injured campers and staff. Experience working with children with a positive reference. A good attitude and a strong work ethic. Health care experience specifically with kids. Leadership qualities and practice using them. Background and involvement in a summer camp environment. The ability to work independently while being a team player. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Any extra health care industry certifications are a bonus! Interest and appreciation for nature and outdoor education. Above all, we are looking for people who will wake up every morning with a positive attitude and a willingness to work to the best of their ability. We work with our staff and continually develop them to become outstanding people with a desirable skill set that will help them with future job opportunities. Qualifications 18 years of age by June 1, 2014. High School Diploma Clean criminal background check, including the vulnerable sector search.
