MINOTTI DESIGN IDENTITY 2011
Coordinated by Rodolfo Dordoni
One look at the new collection and you immediately understand why. Why such a weighty, and true word was
chosen: identity. The reason lies in the lines drawn by Rodolfo Dordoni, in the consistency and strength of his
designs. In recognizing the needs expressed by humankind, in his research. The reason lies in the stability of
a firm that, over time, has figured out how to mature into its own unique individuality, trace a pathway, define
a clearer awareness. Identity translates into a clear statement: this is who we are, this is what we want. Above
all, projects that meet the needs of the present: functional, flexible, authoritative. Without sacrificing a warm
welcome, a softness declared by lines and proportions, right from the start. Of course, there are echoes of
essential design, leaning more toward understatement rather than opulence; to the highlights more than to the
rhetoric of signs. But, where everything is governed by intelligent thought that knows how to weave together
innovation and history, technology and beauty. Minotti is a classic, thanks to its tradition, balance, and
quality. Minotti is contemporary, thanks to its research, mission, and future directions. Two perspectives, the
same identity.

ALLEN
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
The Allen sofa is a perfect example of what Minotti means by “sofa”: an object defined by its smooth lines and
proportions, its added height from the floor, and the functionality of its dimensions, without sacrificing soft lines
and rounded shapes, especially where the arms are concerned. Even though it’s a product of design, Allen is
certainly not lacking in comfort, thanks to the high back that offers total support for the back and the head.
Internal padding of the arms and back is molded, while the reversible seat cushion is covered in goose down.
The feet, made of molded, die cast aluminium, describe a sinuous line, proof that the classical concept is
inherent to Minotti’s DNA.
Spotlight on feet: made of die cast aluminium, in Pewter colour (a shade created by Minotti Studio) they have
sinuous lines and classic structure, in both proportions and materials. Molded, they are the result of
technological research and reinforce the association between Minotti and uniqueness. In terms of foot
placement, they’re seen in profile when the sofa is viewed from the front, while the flat surface is visible when
the sofa is viewed from the back or side.
A totally new design concept: unlike traditional chaise longues that form the end unit of a seating
composition, this element already possesses a “hint” of the sofa in its shape. Thanks to its “L-shaped” design,
it foreshadows the sofa and carries it forward. Minotti also solves the problem of overlapping feet in the
corner, and preserves the purity of design. A sense of clarity enhances the value of this piece in a key area of
home living - the place for socializing with friends and enjoying family companionship.
Frame: one-piece solid wood frame with metal reinforcements set crosswise.
Frame preparation: let into high-density polyurethane foam in different densities. Arm and backrest padding
with soft fireproof foam insert for enhanced softness and comfort. Additional thick fiber lining thermally bound
to a white canvas.
Cushions: channeled goose down filling for the seat cushions with very resilient polyurethane foam
central insert. Channeled goose down for the backrest cushions.
Feet: molded aluminium die-cast feet (exclusive design by Minotti Studio), Pewter coloured paint with
extra-glossy anti-touch finish. Protective Hytrel® (soft scratchproof rubber) glide.
Cover: fully removable fabric covers. Non-removable leather for the frame, removable leather backrest and
seat cushion covers.

DONOVAN
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
At first glance, the austere grouping of the Donovan sofa elements calls to mind the essential nature of cubism.
But once seated, the sensations change. Donovan’s softness is surprising, swathed as it is in goose down,
arms and back included. While eight different thicknesses of expanded polyurethane lend the seat cushion
comfort that cries out quality. One of the latest Donovan innovations is the one-piece seat that creates a
uniform seating surface without the classic “cracks” between one seat and another, and makes it possible to
group elements together, even using sections with different dimensions, to create original and pleasantly
asymmetrical compositions. If it’s true that its personality tends toward understatement and aims to appeal
primarily to younger tastes, that doesn’t close the door on versatility - at ease in a modern, minimalist setting,
simply upholster it in a jacquard fabric and it’s a perfect fit for a more classic decor. As to details, the eyes are
drawn to the alluring Black-Nickel metal designer feet; they stand out against the floor just enough to express
themselves. In a whisper, but with attitude.
The mix of elements that makes up the Donovan sofa were carefully designed, square pieces that are also soft.
The proportions of the armrest prevail over those of the back; both are fastened to the seat - three pieces held
close together that come alive, creating an angular effect on the outside, very functional and linear, and soft
on the inside, forming a fluffy niche.
The Donovan corner element has two attractive functions: the first is to achieve “design-ability” among all the
elements (end and center elements) creating an infinite variety of sectional combinations; the second is to be
a “one seat end element”, even when combined with a simple end element of any size, to recreate the effect
of a single long sofa, but with an individual “corner niche”. The special detail at a 45 degree angle to the back,
with its soft, cushiony lines, and workmanship that, with a skillful bit of tailoring, echoes the shapes, creating
a feeling of wrap-around continuity and voluptuous lines.
Frame: solid wood. Frame let into elastic straps with a high rubber content.
Frame preparation: seat padding with high-resiliency polyurethane foam in different densities, that has been
aggregated for anatomical, differentiated and long-lasting comfort. All the frame has a channeled goose down
padding to enhance softness and make the seating appear like a big inviting cushion.
Cushions: channeled goose down filling for the backrest cushions.
Feet: metal, Ø 25 mm, glossy Black-Nickel finish. Protective nylon glides.
Cover: fully removable fabric covers for the backrest cushions and frame.
Single sofa and compositions available in different sizes from cm. 180x103xH80

JENSEN
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
Technology is here, as is the school of Italian master upholsterers. In other words: design and comfort. This is
Jensen, designed to set the standard - one hundred percent armchair. Rigid, the external structure lends
stability to the shape; while the goose down cushioning invites surrender. Around the edges of the structure,
a caneté highlights the design, along with a zipper, visible on the front part of the seat, and serves two
purposes – decorative and practical. But, it’s the base that expresses the impeccable originality and
uniqueness of Jensen. The triangular section of die-cast aluminium offers wave after wave of harmonious
curves, modulating degrees of thickness and roundness. An interplay of the most sophisticated Minotti
technology made possible through research, design and engineering. At the service of evocative beauty.

SAVILLE
Design Gordon Guillaumier
A chair informed by contemporary design, what inspires it and what it aspires to. Innovation, comfort,
sculptural vigor, retro accents, and the ability to interpret complex processing elements like curved wood. And
quality, of course - in the goose-down cushioning, tailored stitching, high-quality upholstery. Saville’s destiny
is to last over time, a feature inherent to Minotti style.

CASE ARMCHAIR
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
Descendant of the Case dining table chair is the new Case Armchair, the armchair that looks like a basket, with
an essence of line and refined elegance to match. Wrapped in a mantle of saddle-hide, it envelops a
one-piece seat to be upholstered in a fabric of choice from the collection, offering infinite combinations and
textural interaction. Here, the Minotti Design Identity is expressed not through shapes which, in their
simplicity allow it to blend easily with any sofa in the collection, but rather through the fascination expressed
by the sophisticated juxtaposition of materials, a quality consistently recognized as a way of life for the Minotti
brand. Not to mention the rich craftsmanship and comfort offered by the goose down seat cushion.

TATLIN-SOFT | TATLIN | TATLIN-SOMMIER | BEDSPREAD
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
The Tatlin bed is all about the headboard, upholstered in saddle-hide, in the colours Mud, Tobacco, Dark
Brown and Black, with detailed workmanship that calls to mind refined luggage - in the rounded corners, the
stitching, the lush thickness. Tatlin has an unusual split personality - a softer Tatlin, with accessory cushions
upholstered in the same fabric as the bed sides, that attach to the headboard with snap-on saddle-hide straps.
The other is a more minimalist, uncompromising voice, where the saddle-hide headboard is always in full view.
A product with a uniquely formal expression, yet able to convey two distinct emotions.
Frame: multi-ply wood headboard and bed frame.
Frame preparation: padded with resilient polyurethane foam of different densities (CFC-free waterlily). The
bed frame is covered with fiber thermally bound to white canvas, which confers softness to the frame while
separating it from the fabric.
Covers: the headboard has two panels covered with saddle-hide. The saddle-hide is available in the following
colours: Mud, Black, Tobacco and Dark Brown. Tatlin-Soft version: the headboard has two cushions, with
non-allergenic fiber padding, strapped onto the saddle-hide panels with snap buttons. Matching cushion
covers and bed frame cover.
Feet: molded die-cast aluminium feet (exclusive design by Minotti Studio) with Pewter-coloured, extra-glossy
anti-touch finish.
Cover: the bed frame and cushion covers are completely removable.
N.B.: adjustable spring height. The spring support can be fitted into the frame in several positions to
accommodate any kind of spring.
Tatlin Bedspread: handmade bedspread, covered with Art. Artis fabric on one side, 01 Natural-Graphite
colour and on the other side in Art. Artis fabric, 04 Graphite colour. Fabric blend: 21% linen, 26% cotton, 53%
viscose (see Textile collection Art 17). The bedspread is double-faced.

CLAYDON
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
A table designed, engineered and created to be adaptable to any setting. To be, and remain “evergreen”, an
example of “good design” - design purity, functionality, class. Starting at the top: choose from the elegance
of oak, the sophistication of marble or the contemporary look of glossy lacquer. While the base narrates a
boldly artistic tale, the subtext is technologically aware. Evolutions in depth and curves, the harmonious flow
of lines dictated by the pencil converge toward a virtuosity of form that only a major investment in casting
moulds can achieve.

MILLS | MILLS LOW
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
The dimensions of the Mills chair are delicate; the profile is dynamic; the structural design is clear. Its
Scandinavian genes are there; clearly stated. The result is contemporary - built for comfort, generous in its use
of materials, and refined workmanship.
This captivating little chair is the offspring of the Mills chair, Mills Low features a lower seat height for
inclusion in a living room setting, in perfect harmony with the sofas in the collection. Its lightness and slim
dimensions are balanced by an abundance of personality and spirit of design. An invitation to comfort,

Fine tradition is echoed in the smooth design of this chair and armchair – the spirit is “contemporary” and the
vibe is clearly 50’s, updated with the latest technology. The quality of the materials and the sophisticated

PERRY
Design Rodolfo Dordoni
6
Perry coffee tables have pewter-coloured die cast aluminium legs that express an uncommonly ample
physical presence. Paired with a solid wood top, the union is modern and elegant, and the telltale marks of
time will make it more fascinating, warmer and lived-in. Versatile, Perry mixes perfectly with the products from
the entire Minotti collection, and is totally at ease next to the Allen sofa, which heightens the dialog between
the feet of one and the legs of the other. Legs whose location allows for a unique integration and placement
with the Davis pouf – a compact pouf, padded with goose down – essential in spirit and flexible in nature. Such
studied simplicity calls for some sophistication; the lower part of the pouf is upholstered in leather, fitted with
a zipper, and stamped with the Minotti logo; and at the corners, discreetly, the elegant Black-Nickel metal feet
peek out. Whether it’s due to the spirit, or the nature of the design, the personalities of these two seem made
for each other. In three words – this is Minotti living – sophisticated, durable, versatile.

Wood is its soul - the Moka oak structure forms the classic shape of the container. Leather is the heart - it
covers the door panels, lending elegance and the element of surprise. Pewter-coloured metal is the brilliant
detail: a handle set into the same perimeter that houses the leather. That’s how wood-leather-metal become
an inseparable trio in the name of simplicity and strict geometry. A unique project - a piece of furniture that
stands apart from the stereotypical definition of a container, proof of quality craftsmanship.
