FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Los Angeles Art Association, a nationally recognized non-profit art
organization, will launch its 85th anniversary kick-off at its Annual Benefit Auction on August 1, 2009.
The auction, widely embraced by the art community and leading collectors as a showcase of
art trends, will feature more than 100 works by emerging, mid-career artists, as well as celebrated
luminaries including Kehinde Wiley, Richard Artschwager, Ed Moses, Andy Moses, Lita Albuquerque,
Salomon Huerta, Greg Miller, Alex Couwenberg, Lia Halloran and many more.
Hundreds of LA’s most influential movers and shakers are expected to attend the exclusive
champagne VIP preview featuring food by NOBU and spirits provided by Blue Angel Vodka. The live
auction to be presented by Christie’s Los Angeles President Andrea Fiuczynski will begin promptly
at 7:15pm, and the silent auction closes at 9:30pm. LAAA Executive Director Peter Mays states: “We
are considered by Los Angeles’s leading art galleries to be a major feeder to the gallery scene, so
our auction is a great place to discover emerging talents while they are still very affordable to a broad
