Pioneer Village, a group of hand-hewn log buildings representing a display of pioneer living conditions, country store, grist mill, covered bridge, pioneer home, smoke house, blacksmith shop and more. The 1094-foot bridge was opened in 1927 and is dedicated to the memory of the Etowah County World War I heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. The Emma Sansom Monument, marking the bridge entrance, stands in memory of the Gadsden heroine. When the enemy had burned the bridge over Black Creek, Sansom mounted behind Gen. Forrest and showed him a ford where his command crossed. He pursued and captured that enemy and saved the city of Rome, GA.
