2014 Turnout Gala Whidbey Island Dance Theatre Auction Catalog Saturday, March 31, 5:30 p.m. Island County Fairgrounds, Fine Arts Building, Langley, WA Welcome to our 2014 WIDT Auction Thank you! For taking time out of your busy spring schedule to join us in celebrating and supporting the Whidbey Island Dance Theatre. Funds raised at this event will be used to support our upcoming productions, scholarships and youth in arts outreach. Our Theatre has an extraordinary commitment to inspired dance on Whidbey Island. By bidding generously you will enable us to continue to offer these and other enriching programs for the children and the community. We are so grateful and humbled by the show of support from our community. Thank you for turning out to the TurnOut Gala…we are throwing this Auction party as an end of year celebration and strive to make it worth your generous time and heartfelt gifts. Christyn Johnson & Jeannie Miller Auction Co-chairs P.S. If you see anything that you would like to bid on and are not attending this year’s TurnOut Gala, please email us at whippet2me@aol.com by 4 p.m. on the 31st. Include the full title of the item and the amount you are offering. We will record your offer and notify you if you are the winning bidder. You do not need to attend the auction to win. Welcome! To get you ready for the big night, here are a just a few of the exciting things we have for you to enjoy at this year’s event: Online Auction The fun starts NOW! Check out the online auction by following the links from www.widtonline.org to bid on some great things, including a walk on part with Madam Bumble! Valet Parking New this year, enjoy valet parking, by donation! Raffle Run At the beginning of the night, check out the great collection of items up for grabs on our Raffle Run Table! Then buy your tickets from a volunteer. At the end of the evening, one number at a time will be drawn and announced. Then the next number will be drawn and announced. If your name is called, you get to take any item you wish from the raffle run table immediately. You may take as long as you want to make your decision, but know that every few seconds, someone else takes a prize! The fine print: You must be present to win. Quantity of tickets drawn will equal the quantity of items on the table. Not every ticket sold will win a prize. Restaurant Frenzy As the auctioneer announces each of these gift certificates, the first person who gets his attention, by whatever means, gets to take home the prize at the face value. Be bold! Plan your strategy! Beat out the competition! 4 50/50 Draw Buy a ticket to win a cash prize! Half of all 50/50 ticket sales is awarded to the winner! Dessert Dash The dessert dash involves each table combining their bids to claim one of the delicious desserts available on the dessert table. The table with the largest bid gets first chance at dashing to the dessert table and picking the dessert of their choice! To get your chance at the most delectable, scrumptious dessert, simply complete the dessert dash card on your table! Be careful though… you’ll need to bid high to be the first table called and be fast to get your favorite dessert because the next winning table number will be called quickly… thus, the DASH part of the Dessert Dash! Performances DANCE MOMS Dierdre Sherman, Jamee Pitts & Leah Marshall perform a hiphop dance. Warning: involves mild twerking. The best part is our daughters are mortified! SOLACE Choreographed by world class choreographer Aaron Cash. Performed by WIDT Company dancers and alumni: Ariana Abrahams Faith O'Brochta Madyson Hunter Bronte Patty-Caldwell Kiana Henny Emma Patty-Caldwell Brittany Falso Tessa Sherman Holley Johnson Alexa Varga Skyylynn Lippo Caitlin Zarifis Chelsea Matthews-Jensen MISTE Seniors Madyson Hunter & Kiana Henny dance an excerpt from Daniel Wilkins "Miste" in their final WIDT performance. 5 Fund an Item Fund the Dream - Scholarships for Students The Gretchen Jacobsen Lee Memorial Scholarship fund enables WIDT Company dancers to attend summer dance intensives. Dancers must apply to the Scholarship Committee for awards to continue their dance education and expand their horizons. Refurbish the Nutcracker Sets Last year we began construction on the updated staircase/castle, and the snow cave portion needs to be completed. And it’s time to paint the Living Room! We have been using the same backdrop since about 1997. It’s time for a fresh look. 6 Corporate Sponsors Please join us in thanking these corporate sponsors, who gifted us with services, donations not listed elsewhere or provided discounts: First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to Chef Christyn Johnson and George Johnson of Raw Indulgence Kitchen. Many of us have enjoyed Chef Christyn’s food at the Whidbey Institute, and now they have started a new raw food home delivery service. You have the opportunity to bid for a whole month of your very own, both online and live at the event. Enjoying your meal? It was all donated to us FREE OF CHARGE so that more of the auction proceeds could go to the kids. Bidding on anything with a picnic or catered lunch? Many were donated by Raw Indulgence. Check out their website at www.RawIndulgence.Kitchen Did you receive one of our beautiful postcard invitation? Please thank Whidbey Island Printing & Office Supply (Previously known as Boomerang). The poet lives and writes at the frontier between deep internal experience and the revelations of the outer world. There is no going back once this frontier has been reached; a new territory is visible and what has been said cannot be unsaid. The discipline of poetry is in overhearing yourself say difficult truths from which it is impossible to retreat. Poetry is a break for freedom. In a sense all poems are good; all poems are an emblem of courage and the attempt to say the unsayable; but only a few are able to speak to something universal yet personal and distinct at the same time; to create a door through which others can walk into what previously seemed unobtainable realms, in the passage of a few short lines. Donor: The Heron Lash Extensions Value$105 Lash Extensions are a beautiful new way to extend the length and thickness of natural eyelashes, and are a practical, convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara. Unlike decades-old, traditional false lashes, lash extensions are the first innovation in lash lengthening that can be worn daily, without nightly removal. Because each tapered, synthetic lash is bonded to a single natural lash, the final result is of effortless glamour and difficult to detect even close up. Lash extensions can be worn throughout the year with minimal monthly maintenance. Touch-ups are recommended after the initial full set application to refill any lashes that have cycled out. To maintain the full, thick appearance of a new set of lashes a fill is recommended every 3 weeks. When applied properly, lash extensions will not harm natural lashes. The application technique allows natural lashes to grow and thrive with extensions. This technique requires several different "separation" steps during the application process each extension is adhered to a single natural lash in order to prevent interruption of the lash growth cycle.
