2014 Turnout Gala
Whidbey Island Dance Theatre
Auction Catalog
Saturday, March 31, 5:30 p.m.
Island County Fairgrounds, Fine Arts Building, Langley, WA
Welcome to our
2014 WIDT Auction
Thank you! For taking time out of your busy spring schedule to join
us in celebrating and supporting the Whidbey Island Dance Theatre.
Funds raised at this event will be used to support our upcoming
productions, scholarships and youth in arts outreach. Our Theatre
has an extraordinary commitment to inspired dance on Whidbey
Island. By bidding generously you will enable us to continue to offer
these and other enriching programs for the children and the
community.
We are so grateful and humbled by the show of support from our
community. Thank you for turning out to the TurnOut Gala…we are
throwing this Auction party as an end of year celebration and strive
to make it worth your generous time and heartfelt gifts.
Christyn Johnson & Jeannie Miller
Auction Co-chairs
P.S.
If you see anything that you would like to bid on and are not
attending this year’s TurnOut Gala, please email us at
whippet2me@aol.com by 4 p.m. on the 31st. Include the full title of the
item and the amount you are offering. We will record your offer and
notify you if you are the winning bidder. You do not need to attend
the auction to win.
Welcome!
To get you ready for the big night, here are a just a few of the exciting things we have for
you to enjoy at this year’s event:
Online Auction
The fun starts NOW! Check out the online auction by following the links from
www.widtonline.org to bid on some great things, including a walk on part with Madam
Bumble!
Valet Parking
New this year, enjoy valet parking, by donation!
Raffle Run
At the beginning of the night, check out the great collection of items up for grabs on our
Raffle Run Table! Then buy your tickets from a volunteer. At the end of the evening, one
number at a time will be drawn and announced. Then the next number will be drawn and
announced. If your name is called, you get to take any item you wish from the raffle run
table immediately. You may take as long as you want to make your decision, but know that
every few seconds, someone else takes a prize!
The fine print: You must be present to win. Quantity of tickets drawn will equal the quantity of items on
the table. Not every ticket sold will win a prize.
Restaurant Frenzy
As the auctioneer announces each of these gift certificates, the first person who gets his
attention, by whatever means, gets to take home the prize at the face value. Be bold!
Plan your strategy! Beat out the competition!
4
50/50 Draw
Buy a ticket to win a cash prize! Half of all 50/50 ticket sales is awarded to the winner!
Dessert Dash
The dessert dash involves each table combining their bids to claim one of the delicious
desserts available on the dessert table. The table with the largest bid gets first chance at
dashing to the dessert table and picking the dessert of their choice! To get your chance at
the most delectable, scrumptious dessert, simply complete the dessert dash card on your
table! Be careful though… you’ll need to bid high to be the first table called and be fast to
get your favorite dessert because the next winning table number will be called quickly…
thus, the DASH part of the Dessert Dash!

Fund the Dream - Scholarships for Students

dancers to attend summer dance intensives. Dancers must apply to the
Scholarship Committee for awards to continue their dance education and
expand their horizons.
Refurbish the Nutcracker Sets
Last year we began construction on the updated staircase/castle, and the snow
cave portion needs to be completed.
And it’s time to paint the Living Room! We have been using the same backdrop
since about 1997. It’s time for a fresh look.

Special Thanks
This year’s auction planning was full of love, laughter and maybe a few moments which gave us all an
opportunity to grow. Thanks for the opportunity to work together; it has been a wonderful year!
To each and every Donor for their generosity and continued support. In return, please give your support
to our supporting businesses and individuals.
To our Auction Committee:
Dierdre Sherman: for keeping order and a sense of humor in the fast-paced
and potentially chaotic area of procurement. We so much appreciate your willingness and grace to add
yet another volunteer lead role to your already full plate.
Tonya Henny: for stepping in with great energy and ideas as well as your organizational skills and exquisite
taste in preparing the event.
Dawn Paczynski: You are a shining Star! Thank you for asking anyone for anything that was needed
for our auction to succeed. We so appreciate your amazing energy and generosity.
George Johnson: For fearlessly taking on the inaugural role of online Auction lead and web page builder.
Your willingness to create and recreate auction pages is amazing.
From the Procurement Chair Dierdre Sherman, “I would like to extend a thousand thank you's to our
graduating moms, Janet Hunter & Tonya Henny, who have been shining examples of investment in our
Company right to the very end! And Dawn Paczynski is the Official Auction Goddess!"
All volunteers who, with generosity of their time, made this event possible. We are all blessed to live in
such a loving, caring, supportive community.
Ken Stephens, techno-wizard for his back-of-house organization and management.
Gary Way, musician extraordinaire for adding to the ambiance during check in and silent auction.
Warm Thanks to all our procurers, for giving so much
in the midst of your busy lives.
The Beautiful Dancers of the Whidbey Island Dance Theatre and our Artistic Director and co-director Char
and Amy who grace our lives with their presence and for whom
we are here tonight.

CDs and Books: Poetry by David Whyte
Value$10-$20
Poetry by David Whyte, CDs and Books.
The poet lives and writes at the frontier between deep internal experience and the revelations of the outer world. There is no
going back once this frontier has been reached; a new territory is visible and what has been said cannot be unsaid. The
discipline of poetry is in overhearing yourself say difficult truths from which it is impossible to retreat.
Poetry is a break for freedom. In a sense all poems are good; all poems are an emblem of courage and the attempt to say the
unsayable; but only a few are able to speak to something universal yet personal and distinct at the same time; to create a door
through which others can walk into what previously seemed unobtainable realms, in the passage of a few short lines.

Lash Extensions
Value$105
Lash Extensions are a beautiful new way to extend the length and thickness of natural eyelashes, and are a practical,
convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara. Unlike decades-old, traditional false lashes, lash extensions
are the first innovation in lash lengthening that can be worn daily, without nightly removal. Because each tapered, synthetic
lash is bonded to a single natural lash, the final result is of effortless glamour and difficult to detect even close up.
Lash extensions can be worn throughout the year with minimal monthly maintenance. Touch-ups are recommended after the
initial full set application to refill any lashes that have cycled out. To maintain the full, thick appearance of a new set of lashes
a fill is recommended every 3 weeks.
When applied properly, lash extensions will not harm natural lashes. The application technique allows natural lashes to grow
and thrive with extensions. This technique requires several different "separation" steps during the application process each
extension is adhered to a single natural lash in order to prevent interruption of the lash growth cycle.
