Celebrating Mother’s Day – The Mothers of Endeavour Foundation
Endeavour Foundation’s 61
year-old history is rich with
remarkable people, none more
so than the remarkable mothers
who started it in 1951.
Mothers such as Thora
Pribbernow, Elizabeth Hooper
and Sybil Moxon found
that the education system
excluded their children with
intellectual disabilities.
They refused to accept that their
children couldn’t be educated so
they started teaching them on
the verandah of the Hooper’s family home at Coorparoo, Brisbane.

From such humble beginnings
grew Endeavour Foundation
and mothers are still at the
forefront of everything we
do. They play an important
role on Area Committees,
as advocacy champions and
by offering their thoughts
and advice.
As Mother’s Day approaches
we remember the group
of incredibly dedicated and
resolute mothers of yesterday
and today to whom Endeavour Foundation and its clients owe a
huge debt of gratitude.
