is a cooperative of 18 groups of 600 families farming on 900 small farms. Red
Ecolsierra farmers always reserve a part of their farms for forestry.
As a certified Organic and Fair Trade organization, Ecolsierra encourages
members and their families to see the social and economic benefits of using
modern production processes of organic products. This generates sustainable
income, which guarantees a better life for members.
Taste profile: Well-balanced acidity with a rich body, starts off sweet and
creamy with notes of tart fruit and finishes with a bittersweet, dark cocoa note.

Asproguate is an organization which represents 150 smallholder producers
from Cobán and Acatenango, and is committed to allowing small landholders
better access to the international coffee market, with potential for growth. Their
partners produce upwards of 1,000 bags of coffee a year in nutrient-dense
volcanic soil.
The coffee farms are located as high as 6,000 feet above sea level, and the
region’s distinct seasons allow for sun-drying along with traditional and
artisanal processing methods.
Taste profile: Toffee, apple, creamy, soft and malic.

Beneficio Santa Rosa is one of the first groups to help bring Fair Trade to
independent, small-scale farmers in Latin America. The farmers are now
working together with BSR and Fair Trade USA to improve coffee quality by
processing as a group in a new wet mill they recently acquired.
Taste profile: Clean, sweet, chocolate notes, soft nutty notes, mild acidity, full
body, balanced.
Coopac was established in April of 2001 with 1100 members aiming to
regenerate the coffee sector in the Gisenyi region of Lake Kivu. Coopac coffee
prices have been steadily climbing in recognition of the quality improvements;
in turn, the well-being of its members has drastically improved through Fair
Trade initiatives that guarantee the farmers get their fair share.
Taste profile: Bright, creamy with tropical fruit flavors as well as cola, floral,
fig, lemon, brown sugar sweetness; sparkling phosphoric and tartaric acidity.
