Once again, this year’s educational program is a cooperative result of leading authorities and prominent worldwide Institutions on the surgical and medical retina fields. TVRS is a combined effort of the prominent Professor Bandello from San Raffaele University in Milan and Professor Zografos from Jules-Gonin Eye Clinic in Lausanne along with the local organizers, the faculty of the Papanikolaou Hospital. The School is also a project of the South–Eastern Ophthalmological Society and under the auspices of the Northern Greece Ophthalmological Society. This years wet labs include: • Vitrectomy using only 23-25-27g MIVS • Wide angle observation systems EIBOS –BIOM. • Office based Vitrectomy set up. • New machines and instruments presented by the industry. • Cost effectiveness in Vitrectomy • 3D videos from live Retina surgery • Dry Labs in Medical Retina from J. Datseris • Wet labs, Cataract Surgeons courses, in Facing Cataract Complications from the side ports, using MIVS instrumentation for the anterior chamber, are some of the titles which will be addressed. We grow and evolve inspired by our mentor Dr G. Guarnaccia and by the feedback received from our previous participants. This year TVRS evolves to an advanced course to keep up with the growing demand of technical questions and problems, that our young fellows are facing alone. The curriculum vitae of this year’s participants indicated that very soon, they will become instructors of our school. This year’s evolution……. TRUE TO LIVE SURGERY (TTL) Until now all the Vitreo Retinal labs were performed using table mounted microscopes only.. This year, with the support of Haag- Streit Surgical and Alcon, we will have 3-4 floor- mounted complete surgical microscopes connected with the latest wide angle observation systems. Newest technology vitrectomy machines from leading manufacturers will be used to perform vitrectomy and ILM removal on artificial eyes. This is the closest you can get to the real live surgical set up in a wet lab, using also the foot controls of the microscope. Looking forward to welcoming all to the TVRS spirit and thank you for joining us! On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Bandello Francesco Professor and Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology, San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy bandello.francesco@hsr.it Zografos Leonidas Professor and Chairman of the University Eye Clinic, Lausanne, Switzerland l.zografos@oncol.ch Nikolakopoulos Αthanasios Chairman of Eye Clinic, “G.
