This exhibition has been created by Gérard Fournier
(qualified teacher, History doctor and Resistance
and Memory Regional Comity President) and
volunteer fighters of Resistance and Scamaroni
company.
Through 17 boards and more than 120 documents
from Calvados, Orne and Manche archives
(Normandy counties) and also archives from
patriotic associations and private collections, this
exhibition presents the several fields of action
(military and humanitary) of French Resistance
organized in year 1944.

from Normandy to Berlin
May, 8th 2015 will be the commemoration of the
70th anniversary of the end of World War 2. Come
and see this great size exhibition in the park of the
museum that will show the key moments of Europe
liberation until Germany surrendered. Following
the Way of Liberty from Normandy to Bastogne all
the way through until total victory when Reichstag
was taken by the Russian Red Army, this exhibition
reminds you the stakes of Operation Overlord. Its
final aim was to penetrate Europe to reach the
heart of Germany.

2015 will be the 70th anniversary of Resistance,
Landings, France liberation and Victory against
Nazi inhumanity. This exhibition explains the
essential role of Provence landing in France
liberation. It has been as important as the one of
June, 6th 1944 in Normandy. See the stakes of this
decisive operation that gathered 13 nations on
August, 15th 1944 with one and only aim: free France
from Nazi burden.
It presents the different steps of these troops that
crossed the Atlantic ocean and enhances these
men and women united under the same banner.

collection of 12 year-research in the area. You will

3rd edition
Come and see pieces of art from Locust Valley,
NY High school students and local school students.
New : Postal art project, created by schools from
Chef-du-Pont, Picauville, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont
and Sainte-Mère-Église. Each pupil will draw an
envelope on Peace theme. At the end of D-Day
events, envelopes will be sent with a kind word to
American Veterans that came in 1944.

clandestine letters of her father reached her. This conference will be about her life and her
experience of Resistance and Deportation.

Sainte-Mère-Église
Sainte-Mère-Église center will be closed from Thursday 4th June (1.00 p.m.) until Monday 9th June (8.00
a.m.) in order to leave the town accessible to pedestrians and all the animations. Several free car-parks
are at your disposal at the entrances of the town. Follow the signs. Barbecue, sandwiches and drinks
will be available on the church’ square during the festivities.
CAMPING-CARS
The Camping-car park in front of the Airborne Museum stays open. A field will be exclusively for
CAMPING-CARS from Monday 1st June, road to Picauville (after N13 bridge). Parking only. On Sunday 8th
June, camping-cars won’t be allowed to leave the car-parks between 8.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m..
Circulation will be possible for water supply and services:
• Super U, ZA les Crutelles, Sainte-Mère-Église
• Camping, rue 505e Airborne,
BUS CAR PARKS
Next to the market hall, a car-park is available until 02/06, date when the fun fair will set in. Otherwise,
car-parks will be open exclusively next to the firefighters (follow indications) or rue du 505th Airborne.
The “5 min-stop” in front of the Airborne Museum will not be available. Buses can let their passenger get
off in front of the hall market.
SUNDAY, 7TH JUNE - LA FIERE
Free car-parks will be open in fields around the drop zone, so-called “la Fière” between
Amfreville, Picauville and Chef-du-Pont.
CAR PARK ACCESS
- Coming from CAEN/CARENTAN : Exit BLOSVILLE direction Chef-du-Pont and then PICAUVILLE. Follow
the signs for car-parks.
- Coming from CHERBOURG : Exit NEUVILLE-AU-PLAIN, enter Sainte-Mère-Église. Turn right direction
PICAUVILLE and follow the sign direction “Hiersac.”
PEDESTRIAN ONLY
D15 between Sainte-Mère-Église and Picauville will be forbidden to all vehicles. 45 minute-walk (3,5 km).
AMBULANCE ONLY
The road leading to Cauquigny hamlet from Neuville-au-Plain bridge (N13 exit) will be inaccessible to any vehicles.
PEOPLE with REDUCED MOBILITY, free shuttles (minibus 12 places) between Sainte-Mère-Église, rue
des AFN (Bridge of N13, direction Picauville) are available starting from 9.00 a.m.
Carentan
Friday, 5th June, early afternoon, the road between Carentan (Palm round-about) and SaintCôme-du-Mont will be closed. Car-parks will be open in fields next to the drop zone.

Place de la république and place du Grand Valnoble in the town center will be the heart of festivities
Saturday, 6th and Sunday 7th June. There will be no parking available at this time.
