Save the Children is currently responding to the Internally Displaced Persons and Syrian Refugee crises in Iraq along with responding to the IDP situation inside Syria. In addition to responding to emergencies, Save the Children implements development and early recovery programs in southern Iraq. Save the Children is currently working in 10 of Iraq’s 18 governorates, reaching children and families in the north, central and south of the country. EMERGENCY RESPONSE Save the Children works in close collaboration and partnership with the following: Save the Children has been delivering programs to help both Iraqi IDPs and Syrian Refugees including: Child Protection programs that reunite children who have been separated from their families, identify children who need extra support and ensure that children have a safe and secure place to learn and develop. Education programs that ensure displaced Iraqi, Syrian refugee and children from the hostcommunity get the education that they deserve. WASH programs to provide clean water to drink, cook and bathe, as well as basic hygiene supplies and sanitation infrastructure. Food programs to help families who have fled their homes, secure an adequate amount of food, in both the short-term and long-term. Shelter and Non-Food Items programs ensure families who have fled their homes have the basic items they need to protect them from the elements, help them retain a sense of normalcy and care for their children and themselves.
